evelinaonline asked:

Okay, so for the one-shot requests, how about something Ben/Klaus centric? (obviously platonic) Also lately I've found myself just picking a random word (an object, place, feeling) + a character, and somehow it turns into a one-shot. I don't know, maybe that will help you come up with more prompts for your writing, since you asked for them and all ^^

Okay, I wrote this! It might suck because I did it all in one day :D

Words: 1,251

Ben was hanging by his tentacles from a chandelier, waiting for Klaus. Smiling slightly, he heard the door open and saw his brother step through the doorway. Ben dropped down from the light. “Boo!”

Klaus screamed, dropping the ouija board he was holding. “Christ on a cracker!”

Laughing, Ben sat up. “You should’ve seen the look on your face! Oh my god…”

Stepping out from the chair she had been hiding behind, Vanya giggled. “That was hilarious, Ben.”

Klaus glared at his sibling, though he was smiling slightly. “I’m going to get revenge on both of you.”

Later that day when they were all supposed to go to bed, Klaus found all of his siblings in their bathroom, getting ready for bed. Smiling mischievously, he said, “I have a great ghost story for all of you.”

Luther rolled his eyes. “We need to go to bed.”

“Luther’s right,” Allison said quickly, always eager to agree with him.

“You mean Luther’s scared,” Diego said, scowling at both of them.

    “I’m not scared!” Luther defended.

“Yes, you are!” Vanya, Ben, and Diego said in unison.

“No I’m not!” Luther glared at all of them.

“Then prove it. If you can stay for the ghost story then you’re not scared.” Klaus smiled evilly.

“Fine.” Luther refused to let anyone think he was scared of anything, which was part of his never ending mission to impress Reginald.

“Fabulous. Meet me in the attic.”

Ten minutes later, all of them were sitting in the attic with blankets, pillows and flashlights. Klaus had also brought his ouija board and was holding his flashlight under his face to add a scary effect. “The ghost story is about someone we know… the ghost of Number Five!” As he said this, a chair fell over. Vanya and Diego jumped.

Luther looked slightly shaken up. “Five’s not dead. He ran away. Dad- I mean, Hargreeves said he was dead so people wouldn’t try to find him.”

“Shut up, Luther. You’re not telling the story.” Diego said, glaring at him.

Klaus continued, “Three years ago, Five was killed in this very house. Reginald was annoyed at him and once Number Five had ran away, he hunted him down and-”

Luther interrupted him again. “That never happened.”

    Everyone shushed him, even Allison.

“Let him tell the story!” Ben hissed.

“Anyways, after Reginald found him, he decided that he had to make sure the rest of the Umbrella Academy wouldn’t try to escape too.” Klaus held the ouija board close to his chest.

“He killed him?” Vanya asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Klaus nodded and everyone turned to look at Luther, absolutely sure he would contradict him, but he said nothing, apparently interested in the story.

“He tied up Five in this very attic,” Klaus whispered.

Diego grabbed Ben’s arm. Ben pushed him off, so he clung to Vanya instead.

Klaus smiled, pleased by the effect his story was having on his siblings. “He kept him here for weeks, slowly killing him.” A door creaked and slammed shut. All of them jumped. Diego was practically on Vanya’s lap, shaking slightly.

“Reginald, He, he wouldn’t do that,” Diego said, unsure of himself, his voice shaking even more than he was.

“Wouldn’t he?” Klaus asked, he laid his ouija board down. “Why don’t we ask Number Five?”

Ben was scared, much more than he was willing to admit, but he wasn’t going to avoid an excuse to scare Luther even more. The latter was looking around the dark attic nervously. “Hell yeah, we should,” Ben agreed.

Smiling, Klaus laid the planchette down on the board. When no one moved, he sighed. “Unless you’re all too scared…”

Luther, Allison and Ben instantly put two fingers on the planchette. Diego and Vanya hung back, looking nervous.

Laughing at Diego, Luther said, “Who’s scared now?”

Scowling, Diego put two fingers on as well. As part of their life long rivalry, he refused to seem less capable than his brother. “I’m not- not scared! Come on, Vanya.”

His sister shook her head, refusing to touch the ouija board.

Klaus put two fingers on the planchette. “If there are any spirits here tonight, give us a sign.” As he said this, it slowly move across the board to HELLO.

    Allison gasped. “Who’s there?”

The planchette moved to the numbers and came to rest on the 5.

“Number Five?” Luther asked in a hushed voice.

Y-E-S. “I knew it!” Klaus said, excitedly.

“He really died?” Vanya squeaked.

“He must’ve. How did you die?” Ben asked.

R-E-G-I-N-A-L-D. “He killed you?” Luther asked, sounding genuinely terrified for the first time.

Y-E-S. Another chair fell over and Vanya let out a scream before Ben clapped a hand over her mouth. “Shut up, or we’ll be caught!”

Shaking slightly and scared senseless, Vanya apologized as she stared at the chair.

“This is ridiculous, He wouldn’t kill anyone, especially not Five.” Luther sounded like he was trying to convince himself as much as the rest of them.

A light bulb fell from the ceiling, shattering inches from Luther. They all jumped.

“You made him mad!” Vanya exclaimed, clinging to Diego. “Now he’s going to eat us!”

“Ghosts don’t eat people, Vanya, don’t be ridiculous,” Klaus assured them, but he sounded slightly scared.

The wardrobe at the end of the room began to shake, the doorknobs rattling. They all stared at it, too scared to move.

“N-Number F-Five? Is, Is that you?” Diego asked, shaking almost as much as the wardrobe.

The wardrobe fell over with a loud crash that shook the attic floor. All of them jumped and Vanya and Allison let out strangled screams. The doors fell open and a mass of dark cloth fell out and rose into the air, revealing itself to be one of Number Five’s old Umbrella Academy uniforms.

“Five?” Allison in barely a whisper.

As the uniform floated towards them, furniture rose into the air. They all stared in horror as the uniform stopped, inches from Klaus. “Hey, Five, what’s up?” He said in a voice of eerie calm.

A chair floated over and stopped right next to Vanya. “Please don’t eat us.” She whispered. The chair fell and landed inches from her and she screamed, tears running down her face.

The rest of the furniture came crashing down around them and they all screamed. Allison clung to Luther, crying hard. Ben was shaking, his hoodie pulled over his head. Diego was holding one of his knives but his hands were shaking so badly he could barely hold it. Vanya was lying on the floor, refusing to move. Klaus was shaking slightly, covering his mouth with his hands.

The door burst open and the lights turned on. Reginald Hargreeves stormed in, followed by Grace. “What is the meaning of this? Number One, explain in five words or less.”

Luther looked up at him before throwing on Grace’s shoes. Ignoring her ruined shoes, Grace hugged him. “Oh poor thing, let’s get you to bed.” Luther nodded and he and Allison followed their mother out of the attic.

“Number Two?”

“D-dad, I- I mean Sir Monocle–”

“Too many words. Go to your room, Number Two. You too, Number Seven.”

Diego helped Vanya out of the attic, still shaking.

“Number Six?”

“Five tried to kill us,” Ben said, his voice muffled as he was hiding in his hoodie.

“Number Five? Number Four, what is he talking about?”

Klaus moved his hands away from his mouth, revealing his smile. “I got my revenge.”
