A Celebration of Raymond Douglas Dowden’s Life, age 74, of El Paso, Texas, will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, Texas with burial following at Concord Cemetery in Zavalla, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, Texas.

Raymond died Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at William Beaumont Medical Center in El Paso, Texas.

A native of Hemphill, TX and resident of El Paso, TX, he was a former pastor of Kinsel Chapel for 4 years. He was a veteran Army Staff Sergeant, for the Artillery Division, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nelda Fay Dowden, of El Paso, Texas; his son, Steven Douglas Dowden and wife Stephanie Ann, of Houston, Texas; and daughter, Stephanie Paulette Erickson and husband Gregory, of El Paso, Texas; his mother-in-law, Jimmie Fay Coleman, of El Paso, Texas; sisters, Bobbie McFarland and husband Wilburn, of Mauriceville, Texas and Judy Williams and husband James of Provencal, Louisiana; and grandchildren, Ryan Dowden, Trace Dowden, Trenton Erickson, and Kadyn Erickson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Ethel Dowden; and brother, Clayton H. Dowden.
