Dress like Alexander Berkman

Only most outrageous agent on bourgeoisie would claim Oscar Wilde, Alexander Berkman or rest of the anarchists lacked style 100 years ago.

But since then, anarchist swag has been lost and movement is in a crisis.

Change will come Wednesday 10th of August in anarchist Black Kallio festival in Helsinki, from 4 PM at infoshop Mustan Kanin Kolo (Hämeentie 26).

Helsinki joined international days of action for Russian political prisoners

After Tel Aviv, Helsinki joined the solidarity campaign. A picket in the center of the city was organised. 1st of July, in the opposite side of the railway station, around 10 anarchists stood with a banner "Freedom to Crimean prisoners" (Vapaus Krimin vangeille) with pictures of Oleg Sentsov and Alexandr Kolchenko, and "Freedom for all political prisoners" (in English). Few hundred leaflets were spread.

Peace to Ukraine, free Russian political prisoners!

Vladimir Putin will visit Finland on friday 1th of July 2016. Conflict in Ukraine is still going on, in year 2016 only more than 600 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed and wounded in ceasefire violations. Both parts of the conflicts have been reluctant to fulfill their responsibilities under Minsk II treaty. Vladimir Putin admitted presence of Russian troops last December, and he is one of the persons directly involved in the continuation of the bloodshed, and bears personal responsibility for human rights violations in occupied Ukrainian territory.

Anarchofeminism or parliamentary feminism?

In Mannerheim-hall of new student house Thursday 11th of February 6 PM

Suvi Auvinen and Tiina Rosenberg discuss feminism and power. Does the patriarchy have something to do with state and capitalism? Should feminism be compatible or incompatible with the parliamentary system? Can feminists harness the state and the corporate world to drive the feminist agenda? Should feminists establish parties, march on the streets, attack the police do something else?

Anarchism was put in practice in a number of work collectives of the 70's.

In the year 1968 - on nationwide strike and university occupation in Helsinki

Imagine the following situation. Due to a strike, public transportation is paralyzed all over the country. Some restaurants and shops shut their doors and 30,000 people are gathered in Helsinki to oppose the current cabinet’s austerity measures, despite of wind and rain. This (18th of September - trans.) is the first joint demonstration by all the confederations of labor unions in Finland since the last depression 24 years ago. “And now we are here again” is said on stage at the demonstration.

Notes from the general strike of 100 million euros

We flowed among the water and our co-demonstrators to the mass demonstration at the central railway station in Helsinki. We were there to oppose the redistribution of income from the poor and the middle income workers to the rich, and from employees to corporations planned by the cabinet of prime-minister Sipilä. There were more than 30,000 of us.

In the past year the U.S. has seen a dramatic wave of resistance to racialized policing. In some cases the protests expressed themselves within a reformist framework of police accountability, but quite often they extended to a rejection of police as such. Our talk will chart anarchist involvement in U.S. anti-police struggles from 2009 to the present, with special attention to race, the left, and the current non-state backlash.

Disturbances lecture series 27th of September: Ultra-light history of the anarchist movement

A historical movement has emerged against austerity policy of Sipilä government, and demonstrations during summer of 2015 have been biggest in Finland for decades. However, change of politics demands change of the government, how could this be reached?

Anarchist Black Cross Helsinki statement on the benefit gig of May 2nd and National Boshevism

Anarchist Black Cross of Helsinki organised a support concert 2nd of May with Liquid Sisters, Suspiria, Mare And The Corpse-Eyed Toads, Celibat, Kombinator. Three latter bands were from Russia and ahd over-lapping membership.   During and after the gig it became known that some members of the Russian bands had National-bolshevik sympathies, and eventually gig planned for Turku the following day was cancelled by organisers there.   It is rather stupid to make remarks against immigrants while you are hosted by immigrants, but what else may you expect from a National Bolshevik.
