Once an order/offer is placed on a work listed with Buy Now and Make Offer, the seller will receive a notification. They will then have 72 hours to respond to the order/offer. This is to confirm the piece is still available and ready to ship. You can see more on this here: How long will it take for a gallery to confirm my order or offer?
If you’re negotiating and receive a counteroffer, you’ll have 72 hours to respond to the gallery. Be sure to check your email inbox regularly when you’re making offers on Artsy.
If a seller does not reply within 72 hours, the order will expire. Once orders expire, the hold is removed from your credit card accordingly.
Once your order/offer is approved, your credit card will be charged and the gallery will prepare your artwork for shipment. Once the work is shipped, you will receive an email from [email protected] with tracking information and an estimated delivery date so that you may follow along. You may also check on the status in your Order History tab at any time, which you can learn more about here: Where can I check the status of my order?
If your offer is declined, we will let you know why via email. If the gallery found your offer too low, reopen negotiations by clicking “Make offer” again, or buy it outright by clicking the “Buy now” button (if available). If the work is no longer available or the gallery can’t ship to your location, contact our team at [email protected]. Our designated Orders Team will help you find a similar work. You can learn more about this here: My offer was declined, but I’m still interested in the work. What should I do?
