Thing (comics)
The Thing (Benjamin "Ben" Grimm) is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character is a founding member of the Fantastic Four. The character is known for his trademark rocky orange appearance, sense of humor, blue eyes, and famous battle cry, "It's clobberin' time!". The Thing's speech patterns are loosely based on those of Jimmy Durante.
Actor Michael Bailey Smith played Ben Grimm in The Fantastic Four film from 1994, Michael Chiklis portrayed the Thing in the 2005 film Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, while Jamie Bell acted the part in 2015's Fantastic Four.
In 2011, IGN ranked the Thing 18th in the "Top 100 Comic Book Heroes", and 23rd in their list of "The Top 50 Avengers" in 2012. The Thing was named Empire magazine's tenth of "The 50 Greatest Comic Book Characters" in 2008.
Publication history
Created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist/co-plotter Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in The Fantastic Four #1 (Nov. 1961).

Thing (The Addams Family)
Thing T. Thing, often referred to as just Thing, is a fictional character in the The Addams Family series. Thing was originally conceived as a whole creature (always seen in the background watching the family) that was too horrible to see in person. The only part of him that was tolerable was his human hand (this can be seen in the 1964 television series. The Addams called him "Thing" because he was something that could not be identified. Thing was changed to a disembodied hand for the 1991 and 1993 Addams Family movies.
In Spain it was called Cosa ("Thing") while in other Spanish-speaking countries it was named Dedos ("Fingers"); in German-speaking countries das eiskalte Händchen ("the little ice-cold hand"); in Portuguese-speaking countries Mãozinha ("Little Hand") or Coisa ("Thing"); and in Italian was called Mano ("Hand"). It was also named "Ting" (An easy word for calling a dog in the Thai language).
Appearances
Thing was the creation of Charles Addams, who drew the Addams Family cartoons in The New Yorker magazine, beginning in the 1930s. He first appeared in Addams's 1954 book Homebodies. One of Addams's cartoons shows the Addams mansion with a sign at the front saying "Beware of the Thing." Additionally, Thing has been in the original television series (1964-66), the revived series The New Addams Family (1998), in the related movies The Addams Family (1991), Addams Family Values (1993) and Addams Family Reunion (1998), and the 1992 animated series.

Synopsis:

John Carpenter’s The Thing is nothing short of a legend when it comes to horror films. While it was a box office failure initially, the later days brought it the glory and worldwide appreciation for its horrific monster and themes like paranoia, suspicion, distrust, and claustrophobia. However, there were many unanswered questions left by it. We’ve already created a video in which we deep-dived into various aspects of The Thing; it’s titled The Thing Creature - Anatomy, Timeline, Real Form And Future Of The Franchise Explored In Detail. But don’t worry, we’ll leave the link in the description.
Coming back, in this video, we will explore the comics that went to great lengths to describe what happened to MacReady and Childs after the first film ended. Did they survive? Was one of them The Thing? Did they kill each other? We will not only answer these questions but also talk about what happened to The Thing before the events of the 2011 Prequel. Basically, we’ll track The Thing’s history from 1121 AD to the events after 1982. So, our brothers and sisters from another world, get yourselves comfortable and grab your fire extinguishers because MacReady, here, is going to use a lot of flamethrowers on The Thing.

This video explores the abilities, powers, and origin of the Marvel Comics character "The Thing." From Ben Grimm growing up poor with his older brother Daniel in New York City as a part of the Yancy Street Gang, getting on the right path after getting taken in by his doctor uncle, meeting his best friend Reed Richards as a roommate while on a football scholarship at Empire State University, becoming an excellent pilot during his stint in the U.S. Air Force, gaining his unique appearance and superpowers after being dosed with exotic cosmic energy alongside Susan Storm and Johnny Storm during Reed's spaceship test flight, striving for the betterment of humanity as a part of the Fantastic Four, insecurities not preventing him from having a love-life and eventually marrying Alicia Masters, various adventures during the Secret Wars, a major role in the Fear Itself storyline after grabbing onto The Serpent Cul Borson's Hammers of The Worthy and becoming Angrir Breaker of Souls, briefly absorbing the Infinity Gems to become The Infinity Thing, to membership with other superhero teams like The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy; Let's take a look at this powerful Marvel superhero, and arguably the toughest mutate in the Marvel Universe. This includes a short, canon character biography and my own opinionated "Sage Rating," which I use to give ratings of comic book and science fiction characters.
