What happened on Towel Day 2020?

Due to the pandemic, Towel Day 2020 will be mostly celebrated online and at home. Thankfully some great online events have been created for this year that marks the 42nd anniversary of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the galaxy! (the radio series was first broadcasted in 1978, the novel was published in 1979).

Special online events on 25 May 2020

When May 25th starts in New Zealand, it’s still May 24th elsewhere in the world. Which means that our kiwi brothers and sisters will miss most online events due to the time difference. But… all morning they will be able to enjoy two Brazilian livestreams starting at 6 and 7am NZ time because in Brazil it will still be May 24th and our Brazilian friends start celebrating a day early. The language may be a barrier but the spirit sure will be there!

On May 24th at 19:00 UTC (May 25th 7am in New Zealand) Don't PaniCON - Juntos em casa (Together at home) goes live on YouTube from Brazil. They’re going to view the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy TV series and chat with Kevin Jon Davies. More to be announced.

Simultaneously, there's a livestream from Power-Kon Recife, which sounds like a brilliant annual convention. They celebrate Towel Day every year but we don't know if there will be much related content, but you'll surely be able to get your geek on. Their livestream will feature artists, voice actors, game championships, karaoke, a dubbing workshop, live shows, cosplay, Kpop performances, DJ’s, geek stands selling products online, international correspondants reporting from other countries, etc.
