The Festival is presented on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., by the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage and co-sponsored by the National Park Service. Admission is always free.

In 2021, the Festival will offer monthly digital programs and a weekend of artisan-based digital programming in late June. The presentation on the National Mall has been postponed until 2022.
