A talented songwriter and energetic performer, Gregg Swann left a legacy of music appreciated by pop music fans in the U.S. and around the world when his career was cut short by cancer on February 1, 2011. A Missouri native, he began performing in college; after graduation, he pursued a music career in New York.
Building on years of solo performances in clubs and on college campuses, Gregg began recording and performing with fellow musicians in New York, competing on the syndicated television program “Star Search” and playing a series of shows in Europe.

Allmusic Review

We had to do it.

Liquido were a strange case of one-hit wonders. Founded by two Pyogenesis members (who left the band after Mono), they released an eponymous debut with a commercial acclaim like no other band in Germany, not even Rammstein: their song “Narcotic” was so successful in Europe that it was defined the “second best song ever” by a German radio list. After the drunk phase of regurgitation due by that tormenting hit (the band disbanded in 2009), we can freely say the song wasn’t the masterpiece it was supposed to be: excluding the initial organ intro and carnivalesque keyboard hook, it’s a simple syncope-led simple rocker in C# major. The rest of the album contains mainly catchy, dreaming but clean-, sheen-produced stadium Post-Grunge with cooing vocals, inoffensive grooves, marching paces and distorted The Smashing Pumpkins-like guitar riffs in Drop C# tuning. The songwriting is so repetitive and based over a few power-chord chord changes for single songs that it appears almost minimalistic: besides, the songs range from tentative, insufficient pseudo-singles in the vein of the said “Narcotic” or are vomit-inducing late-afternoon whispered pseudo-intimal filler (“I Will Have It All Today”), not to count the horribly strained vocals. All in all, the band’s mainstream recognition not only was undeserved, but more like the result of luck than anything else.

WHIPPERSNAPPER America's Favorite Pastime 1998

Discogs

Artist Biography by Stacia Proefrock

Forming in the suburbs of Atlanta while they were still in high school, Whippersnapper was originally called Corpus Spin. The band's five members, guitarists Mike and Jason, drummer Pat, vocalist Andy, and bassist Andy B., decided to adopt the current name fairly soon after the band's founding. Their first recording was a split 7" with Ronin -- soon they were hitting the ground running and touring with punk giants like Green Day, 88 Fingers Louie, and blink-182. Lobster Records issued their first two albums, America's Favorite Pastime (which was released in 1998 when the bandmembers were all 19) and 1999's The Long Walk. The first album featured pretty standard East Bay-influenced hardcore played with youthful energy -- but by the time The Long Walk was issued, the band had moved to L.A. and soaked up enough new influences to produce a more adventurous album that played with rhythm and lyrics, resulting in a more creative product. Appearances Wear Thin, Whippersnapper's first for Fueled by Ramen, appeared three years later.

MCRACKINS What Came First? 1995

Discogs

The McRackins are a Canadian pop punk band that was formed in 1994. Their song and album titles revolve around egg puns (i.e. "Bat Out of Shell") They have had approximately 70 releases from over 30 different record labels.
The McRackins nearly always play live in full costume and made up to look like two eggs and a dog. The band claims that they were transformed from men to two eggs and a dog and given super pop-punk powers as the result of a freak nuclear accident. The band consists of twin eggs Bil (guitar, vocals), Fil (bass) and dog Spot (drums). Their original drummer Tommy (The Chicken) Thacker played on a few of the earlier releases and is now a member of famous Canadian band Gob and is also the touring guitarist for Sum 41. Theo Goutinakis from Gob also played bass on the bands 1999 release "Comic Books And Bubblegum".
With sporadic touring throughout their native Canada and the US up until that point, 1996 saw the band take their live show to Europe. Dubbed the European Eggvasion, the McRackins toured seven countries as well as recording some live electric and acoustic sessions for the BBC. The band has made several music videos, which have received light to medium rotation on music channels in Canada, the US, and Europe. Further media exposure includes an appearance in a Molson Canadian beer television commercial, a cameo role in an independently produced motion picture titled Downhill Willy, and various television and radio features.
The band came out of hiatus to finish their album Bat Out of Shell. Their twelfth full-length album was released worldwide in 2006 by Wynona Records, Italy and contained twelve new tracks. A full European tour followed in Jan/Feb 2007 in support, visiting over 30 cities in 12 countries over a 6 week span.
In early 2007, they released MCRACKINS VS JOKERS with Italy's JOKERS on San Martin Records, Italy. The band is currently completing their latest CD "Eggzit" which will be released in North America and Europe by New York based label "Cheapskate Records" in summer of 2008. The CD will also be released in Japan (with 5 bonus tracks) by new label "Suggoi Records" in December 2008 with their first ever tour of Japan in the spring of 2009.
In November 2009 Finland based punk label "Killer Records" released a new MCRACKINS live cd "Live From Thunderbird Radio Hell" which features a 1995 CITR radio session hosted by Nardwuar The Human Serviette. The band has also finished recording their 14th studio album "It Ain't Over Easy" which will be released in early 2010 and will support it with a 3-week European tour in April.

SIDECAR Three Wheel Heroes 1997

Discogs

Artist Biography by Jason Ankeny

All Those Opposed Cleveland pop-punk quartet Sidecar -- singer/drummer Brandon, guitarists Billy and Brett, and bassist Steve -- debuted in 1995 with the 7" Swingset, followed a year later by the full-length Three Wheel Heroes. At some point, Pete replaced Billy on guitar; guitarist Phil also joined on along the way. The Take a Loss EP appeared in 1998, and in mid-1999 Sidecar returned with All Those Opposed on Fast Music. Working in the studio with Bill Stevenson and Jason Livermore, You're Killing Me appeared in early 2003, and though a split release with Samiam was also worked on, it was ultimately shelved by the label without being released. Having built a solid local and Midwest following -- but remaining rather unknown elsewhere -- Sidecar last played together in mid-2003, as the bandmembers then went on to play with other projects.

SIX GOING ON SEVEN Self-Made Mess 1997

Discogs

Artist Biography by Andy Kellman

During their eight-year existence from 1994 to 2001, the emo/indie rock band Six Going on Seven released three full-lengths and a number of stray singles and compilation appearances. Referencing bands from Fugazi to Jawbreaker to Buffalo Tom, the band consisted of singer/bassist Josh English, drummer Will Bartlett, and guitarist James Bransford. After a debut single for Hydra Head, the band fell in with the Some label and recorded 1997's Self-Made Mess at Dave "The Snake" Sabo's (Skid Row) New Jersey studio. Heartbreak's Got Backbeat followed two years later, and the band's final record, American't (Or Won't), was released in 2001 on Big Wheel Recreation. As Six Going on Seven progressed, their sound slickened and softened and English's vocals became less throaty.
