Hi! I request you to create a page for Gyaanipedia. It is a wiki farm, having various language wikis. So I think like Miraheze and WikiApiary, Gyaanipedia is also eligible to be here as it also uses MediaWiki software for its wikis. So it's my humble request kindly create a page for Gyaanipedia. Thanking you with due respect.

I don't see how it's a wiki farm. It doesn't allow users to create new wikis there. It's a single wiki. Please add your wiki to WikiApiary and move along.
MediaWiki.org is not a site to advertise other wikis or wiki farms. That's what WikiApiary is for.
About Miraheze, Brickimedia, etc, I wonder why do we have pages about them here. They seem pretty irrelevant and can potentially open a can of worms here.
Copyright is not relevant in this discussion.
Excuse me @Kuber Motion Picture Entertainment Film Production why did you jumped in my discussion?
Dear Ciencia I don't found creation of page Gyaanipedia is an advertisement as the English version of this wiki which is the main one, generates a huge traffic everyday with having more than 222k articles so from which aspect it looks like an ad. I don't know why all Wikimedia wikis just kick out talent in seconds and if for example a corrupt politician establish a company and invite all notable medias for coverage then his company will be called as notable in few days or may be months. Don't you think that this is wrong?
This is offtopic. Your wiki is not a farm, and has no reason to stay here
I am not inclined to grant this request either citing others.
DefaultSettings.php was reorganized in gerrit:674743.
It should be applied to Manual:Configuration settings (and Template:SettingSummarySection).
Maybe, but that patch won't go out until MediaWiki 1.37, so the documentation would be confusingly different from "reality" for all sysadmins for nearly a year from now. Perhaps we should wait?
I was trying to make a new page called Wikimarkup tutorial but it will not let me. Here is what I have so far in my test:
This is a guide on working with WikiText (aka WikiMarkup)
Step One
Head over to the wiki page you want to edit for this example I`ll say mediawiki.org/User:Caldwmic002/sandbox, then your gonna want to tap Edit Source in the top right corner.
Srep Two
Type some text, when you want to make a section type ==<Name>== and a su-section is === <Name> ===
There is already ample wikitext documentation.
Where was the change discussed?
@Leaderboard It was discussed at Project:Proposal for changing logo of MediaWiki, 2020 for quite some time. It was only yesterday and today that the changes were actually made to the MediaWiki software and deployed to the WMF wikis.
OK, well I thought a change as major as the logo would be advertised more widely (SiteNotice?), as somehow I've missed this again. Edit: I've actually voted on the Round 1 proposals, hmm.
It was in a site notice (or maybe two two?) here over several weeks. But it was also months ago, and memories fade.
MediaWiki:Sitenotice - I can't find any notice relevant to the logo in the histories...
It was on wikitech-l, which is really the mailing list of record for MediaWiki.
I would have expected it to be also on mediawiki-announce, as this change impacts basically everyone.
That list is described as "Low-traffic list for announcements of new MediaWiki releases and security updates." - this doesn't seem to match that description. Anyways, it'll get included in tomorrow's security release announcement.
Yeah, some people I've talked to didn't know about it (and they manage Wikis).
Regardless, it's a nice logo.
It's a, well... strange day to change the logo. April Fool's day :)
The logo was changed on 2021-03-31: https://sal.toolforge.org/log/a1qGingBa_6PSCT9rB51 But you likely only saw the change on 2021-04-01, yes. :-)
Announced on April 1.
That was actually well into April 1 here in Central Europe (UTC+2)… Good thing I’m so lost with time due to sitting in my room almost 24/7 for a year now that I didn’t even think about this being an April Fool’s day thing. 😉 (But seriously, some notice a few days ago at least here on Village Pump would have been useful.)
I can also see "2021-04-01" as the announcement date on the main page (in the news section)
Yup. Looked like a joke. Oh well lol
I had no idea about this change either, but the logo looks nice.
I thought I was being trolled for a second, lol
April Fool's day has been my first thought as well.
- Even more since site logo has not been changed the same day. Right now it is the yellow flower with brackets.
- Deployment should have been synchronized, site logo first, and never ever do someting serious on April 1st.
I almost reverted my colleague who updated our templates today.
Count me among those thinking April fools. This morning my favicon updated but the actual logo hadn't changed. Since I generally don't land on the MediaWiki main page I didn't see the announcement and had to search around to find the explanation.
I also had to Ctrl+F5 to force a refresh before the new logo appeared.
Agreed that regardless, it's a nice logo.
It has been updated. Clear your cache.
Ah, okay, but it updated now without clearing my cache. Something happened very recently.
Yup.
The new logo and favicon still are not displaying in Chrome on my iPad, so maybe the cache busting settings are not working as expected.
Oh well, enjoy the nostalgia?
Hello Dear,
I have proposed a project grant to improve documentation of MediaWiki maintenance scripts, to be reviewed during this grants round.
The proposal is at meta:Grants:Project/Jayprakash12345/Improve documentation of MediaWiki maintenance scripts

Just a short message to call people interested to review, comment and discuss my PhD thesis on Wikimedia movement. All the best !
People use Wikiversity? Reading for novelty factor, if nothing else.
Hi there, I work in the software development department of Wikimedia Deutschland and I'm trying to create a page here:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikibase/Institutional_requirements_for_Wikibase
Unfortunately, I receive this message when I try to publish on the page: "We're sorry, your edit was not saved as it matched the rule: Prevent new users from creating articles in mainspace. This usually happens because the type of edit you made is often done by vandals and spammers. If that is not the case, we apologise. If you believe your edit was constructive, please file a request here, explaining what you were trying to do."
Is there some kind of list of approved accounts I can be added to so as to allow me to edit this page both now and in the future?
Thanks in advance for your help
I've added you to the Autopatrolled users, which should stop filter 83 from stopping you from creating any pages.
Hi Mainframe98, thanks for your speedy response and help. Much appreciated.
Hello. Can anyone try to move Help:Edit Review Improvements/Gadgets and Help:Edit Review Improvements/Glossary to Help:New_filters_for_edit_review from parent pages? Thanks.
Done!
