We acknowledge the Turrbal and Jagera People as the First Peoples and the owners and custodians of the land and waterways where we live.
We acknowledge and pay our respects to ancestors of this country, Elders, knowledge holders and leaders – past, present and emerging. We extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
Aboriginal Leaders and Elders have often stood with RAC Qld for the rights of refugees and asylum seekers and have lead the way in welcoming refugees and asylum seekers.
First Peoples have fought against racism and violence at the hands of Australian governments and have highlighted the implications for everyone, when human rights abuses go unchecked.
Systems of violence, injustice and oppression harm us all. Achieving justice for refugees goes hand-in-hand with the struggle for real justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We call on all refugee rights supporters to join the Refugee Action Collective (Qld) as we stands alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in their ongoing struggle for justice.
