On this date in 1982, Ludus released their second and final full-length album, Danger Came Smiling. The album was comprised of 18 short tracks. No singles were released from the album. On CD, this album was packaged with their 1981 EP, Pickpocket. The band hailed from Manchester, England and featured female lead singer Linder Sterling.

On this date in 1982, The Gun Club released their second single, "Fire Of Love". Ironically, the song did not appear on their debut album, Fire Of Love. It was on their second album, Miami. The B side of the single, "Walking With The Beast", did not appear on either album.




The Gun Club was part of the Los Angeles scene along with 45 Grave, The Cramps and X. They were part blues-influenced horror punk, part psychobilly. Distinctive lead singer Jeffrey Lee Pierce died of a brain hemorrhage in 1996.

The album was a double album containing one record containing 15 studio tracks and the other containing 25 songs of mostly live material with a few studio demos. The album reached the #1 spot on the U.K. albums chart. The punk band from Essex, England broke up in 1984.

The Ruts - Something That I Said

On this date in 1979, The Ruts released their third single, "Something That I Said". The B side was "Give Youth A Chance". The A side appeared on their debut album, The Crack. The B side was a non-LP track that was added as a bonus track when the album was re-released on CD. The band lasted two albums (the second, a semi-compilation) before the overdose death of singler Malcolm Owen. They tried to carry on under a new name, Ruts DC, with very limited success.

On this date in 1979, the UK Subs released their third single, "Tomorrow's Girls". It was backed by "Scum Of The Earth" and "Telephone Numbers". The A side appeared on their debut album, Another Kind Of Blues, though it was a re-recorded version. The two B sides were non-LP tracks. When the album was re-released on CD, all three tracks from the single were added as bonus tracks. The single reached the #28 spot on the U.K. singles chart.

On this date in 1981, G.G. Allin released his third single, "Gimme Some Head". It was backed by "Dead Or Alive". His backing group for this single was the MC2 (Wayne Kramer and Dennis Thomspon of The MC5). Both tracks appeared on his debut album, Always Was, Is, And Always Shall Be. The Bostonian was born Jesus Christ Allin and was famous for his outrageous stage antics. He once promised to commit suicide onstage but that did not happen. Instead, he died of an overdose in 1993 well away from the stage.
