March 5, 2021: Cadbury is celebrating the 50th birthday of the wildly popular Creme Egg in the way most celebrate turning the big 5-0 — with plenty of booze.
The UK arm of the chocolate giant have teamed up with Chicago brewers Goose Island to create a stout that tastes like the iconic choccie — and fans are going wild for it on Twitter.
The Golden Goo-Beer-Lee Creme Stout will be available to order online, and promises to feature the same chocolatey and creamy notes of the confection, thanks to a blend of malted barley, oats, wheat, milk sugar (lactose), cacao nibs and vanilla bean.
Twitter users are already in a frenzy over the drink, with one critic calling the boozy limited-edition brew "a great Easter egg substitute".
"This is actually a bit of ridiculousness on beer that I can get onboard with," another fan wrote.
Brand manager for Cadbury Creme Egg in the UK, Raphael Capitani, said the drink would be available for all Cadbury Creme Egg lovers to try.
"We have always celebrated the unique and wonderful ways of enjoying a Cadbury Creme Egg and with this launch we are taking EATertainment to a whole new level."
The master brewer behind the new beer Andrew Walton said the flavours of the stout complement the Creme Egg.
"We wanted to big up the chocolate and creaminess of the beer while keeping it super drinkable," he explained.
The first batch sold out quickly, but the brewery will be selling a final release on March 8 to celebrate five decades of the iconic choccie, but fans had better get in quick, according to the website.
"Purchases will be limited to 1 x 2-can pack per customer and we only have 500 packs left — when they're gone, they're gone".
February 10, 2021: Easter has come early for chocolate lovers, with Cadbury launch a Caramilk Easter range for the first time.
This year Caramilk fans will welcome the return of the 110g Caramilk mini-eggs bags, as well as two brand-new, significantly more substantial items — the 150g Caramilk Gift Box and the 125g Caramilk Bunny.
Last year, the bags of Caramilk mini-eggs sent fans of the cult chocolate into a spin, with shoppers stockpiling the treat and stores selling out around the country.
Cadbury also announced some other brand favourites among the new Easter line-up, with the launch of the Mint Chip and Cherry Ripe Cadbury 125g bunny, and Cherry Ripe Easter Gift Box.
The latest Cadbury Easter products will start appearing in all leading supermarkets and independent retailers from February 10, 2021.
February 3, 2021: Lindt has followed the caramel trend, releasing two velvety new flavours in its iconic milk and dark chocolate squares.
The masters of fine chocolate have filled their famous chocolate formula with sea salt caramel, adding a smooth mouthful to each crisp bite.
A hint of honey fills each swirl balancing sweetness with a kick of salt.
Lindt Australia Master Chocolatier Thomas Schnetzler says the new release will remind adults of "the pleasure of enjoying" chocolate "without occasion, just for the pure love of enjoying fine chocolate."
Out just in time for Valentine's Day, Schnetzler says the squares are suitable "as a gift" or kept for yourself as the "perfect indulgence".
"The caramel is created with milk and butter to provide a rich, dairy flavour and luxurious velvety mouthfeel and texture that balances perfectly with the chocolate," he adds.
The squares will be available in all Lindt retail stores and cafes, and all major supermarkets from February 1.
January 14, 2021: After months of speculation, Cadbury have launched their most retro flavoured block to date, and chocolate fans are already in a frenzy over the ice-cream-inspired treat.
The Neapolitan has dropped in Coles stores, sending shoppers into a spin, with online comments ranging from "I wanna try it so bad" to "I'm going to hunt it down".
Just like the popular ice-cream, the new block blends chocolate, vanilla and strawberry together, so you get all three flavours in each bite.
Popular junk food review Instagram account @foodfindsgeelong has already rated it "10/10", telling fans "we couldn't wait to try this".
"Hard to believe Cadbury hasn't done this before, m&ms did it back in 2017 and they were so good! And this hits the same," they shared with fellow junk food fans.
"It's exactly what you'd expect it to be... milk & white chocolate with strawberry flavored chocolate that generally taste like Neapolitan ice cream".
The post has already garnered more than 800 likes and more than 150 comments.
"I seriously can't remember the last time I was this excited to try a chocolate block!" another critic chimed in.
"This looks glorious! It's actually really hard to find Neapolitan ice cream these days I've found - it's a classic from my childhood," another agreed.
It's not the only choccie brand to launch an ice-cream inspired treat this week. Click through for the details...
January 13, 2021: Nestlé has dropped two new KitKat flavours, and true to the warmer season they're inspired by two popular, if not controversial, ice-cream flavours; Caramel Crisp and Mint Choc Chip.
Released yesterday, the brand-new flavours come in both block and 4-finger varieties, available nationwide at major supermarkets and select convenience stores.
The KitKat Mint Choc Chip features crisp wafer fingers covered in creamy mint-flavoured chocolate, topped with Swiss cocoa crisps on a choc base, while the KitKat Caramel Crisp boasts wafer fingers smothered in creamy caramel-flavoured chocolate and French caramel flakes on a white choc base.
While mint choc chip flavour historically has a habit of dividing critics, Nestlé Head of Marketing Confectionery Joyce Tan said the two flavours have long been a hit with choccie lovers.
"With mint and caramel continuing to come out on top as fan favourites, what better way to enjoy these flavours and a break over summer, than with our new ice-cream-inspired KitKat bars?"
Despite having only just been launched, online fans are already singing their praises, with one Facebook critic declaring "Caramel crisp is amazing!!!" and another having trouble deciding which flavour to buy first: "Both thanks love Kit Kats."
We reckon 'both' is a pretty safe bet.
January 6, 2021: Well, 2021 is shaping up to be an incredible year thanks to some delicious new treats about to hit supermarkets courtesy of Allens.
The confectionary brand has announced the release of Allen's Mini White Choc Raspberries, Allen's Mini Chocolate Black Cats and Chokito Bites!
Allen's Mini White Choc Raspberries are a delightful play on the traditional treat and while some argue white chocolate isn't 'real' chocolate, it's safe to say these will be delicious regardless.
Allen's Mini Chokito Bites sound equally delicious, with the chewy, caramel confectionary sure to delight in bite-size pieces.
Most controversial are sure to be the Allen's Mini Chocolate Black Cats with their divisive liquorice flavour encased in chocolate which could serve to attract new fans.
Allen's has certainly been clever by releasing three varieties at the same time to cater to all tastes and for those of us who like them all, there are happy, happy days ahead.
January 6, 2021: In chocolate news that will polarise lovers of confectionary Nutella has launched a new product called B-ready, giving those who can't get enough of the nutty spread another way eat it on the go. Â
The delicious treat has a crunchy wafer shell filled with creamy Nutella and wheat puffs. Fans reportedly include David and Victoria Beckham.
While most of us enjoy eating Nutella directly out of the jar using a spoon, this new portable product is welcomed by chocolate lovers and is sold in packs of six.
But not everyone is convinced it's the best way to eat Nutella, with some fans wondering whether it can beat the real thing.
B-ready is available in Aussie supermarkets from today.
In addition to the traditional jars and now B-ready Nutella bars, Nutella also comes in single serves called Nutella & Go which include crunchy biscuit sticks to dip into it.
November 23, 2020: Confectionary giant Cadbury have just launched a new range of ice-creams on sticks, and chocolate fans are in a spin over the summer-friendly dessert inspired by two of their most popular blocks.
Peters Ice Cream and Cadbury have joined forces for the dessert, which combines chocolate from the iconic Dairy Milk block with Peters vanilla ice-cream.
The new offering comes in two flavours — a classic vanilla featuring chocolate swirls and coated in Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate, and a hazelnut flavour coated in milk chocolate with crunchy hazelnut pieces.
The product announcement has been welcomed online with much fanfare over the weekend.
Since hitting freezer aisle shelves, shoppers have been enthusiastically commenting everything from "These are worth buying" to "These are sooooo good".
"Just take my money," one critic wrote on the Cadbury Dairy Milk Facebook page.
The post from Cadbury also sparked passionate calls from vegan fans to bring out a plant-based version, with some slamming the dairy version as "selfish" and "abuse".
"It's 2020 you can make this taste as good, vegan...no excuses. Come on Cadbury!" one critic wrote.
"Please consider having a plant based alternative which is cruelty free," agreed another.
November 16, 2020: KitKat are launching a brand-new Christmas dinner-inspired range for the festive season, with four unique flavours that are sure to divide chocolate lovers.
The limited-edition range, Christmas Feast, was designed by KitKat Chocolatory head chocolatier, Connie Yuen, and features four single KitKat fingers with flavours inspired by both classic savoury and sweet Chrissy courses.
Among them: a 'Prosciutto, Melon and Champagne' appetiser teamed with white chocolate and crisp batch baked wafers; an 'Australian Baked Ham with Orange and Clove Glaze' main course with citrus notes, smoother milk chocolate; a 'Honey Glazed Carrots' side dish featuring dried carrot and honey glaze with milk chocolate and crisp wafers; and a 'Christmas pudding with Brandy Custard' dessert with milk chocolate, plump currants and spiced milk ganache with a brandy custard drizzle.
KitKat collectors can buy one of the limited-edition packs for $25, available exclusively from KitKat Chocolatory boutiques or online at kitkat.com.au, with delivery nationwide.
October 9, 2020: The divisive flavour that inspired its own Bring back Arnott's Chilli Tim Tams fan page in 2015 is back on shelves this week, this time with a dark chocolate twist.
Arnott's say the limited-edition flavour will only be around for a short time.
The treat combines two crunchy dark choc biscuits with a rich chocolate and chilli flavoured cream, and final coating of dark chocolate – and fans are already in a frenzy online over the treat.
Tim Tam marketing manager Matt Grant says the new flavour delivers "a hot Tim Tam experience like no other". But Facebook critics are divided on the spice-factor, with some declaring it not spicy ("my 3 year old son eats them with no problems") and others scrambling for the milk ("Shut up and take my money... then pass me the milk").
Not everyone will be rushing out to buy the spin-off treat, with one critic writing: "You have ruined a perfectly good Tim Tam."
But for fans of the chilli chocolate combo Christmas has come early, with hundreds currently talking about it on social media.
"I love these. Excitement!" one Facebook fan wrote.
"Yum I wanna try!" another agreed.
Those keen to give the new Dark Choc Chilli Tim Tam a try would be wise to stock up before they disappear off shelves.
September 28, 2020: More than two months after an alleged leaked photo of Violet Crumble milk caused an online frenzy, the product is finally about to hit shelves.
The company behind the new chocolate offshoot Robern Menz today confirmed there is indeed a chocolate honeycomb flavoured milk on the way, set to become available from October 1.
"It may have been 107 years in the making, but it's better late than never,"Â said Phil Sims, CEO of Robern Menz, which has partnered with another iconic Australian brand, Bickford's, to produce the milk.
After research commissioned by the company revealed that one in three Aussies are hoping for a chocolate and honeycomb flavoured milk, the CEO said "we had to give Aussies what they want."
"Chocolate and honeycomb splattering together with milk just makes sense," he said of the heavenly combination.
The brand-new product comes on the back of the recent launch of the popular Violet Crumble Caramel.
Violet Crumble Chocolate Honeycomb Flavoured Milk will be available to buy at Coles Espress and Caltex nationally, as well as independent supermarkets for RRP $4.50.
August 26, 2020: Hands up if you knew there was a fourth type of chocolate? You heard us — after white, dark and milk there's another kind called Ruby chocolate, and Magnum just became the first ice-cream brand to debut a Ruby chocolate ice-cream.
Pioneered and crafted by leading premium chocolate manufacturer Barry Callebaut and finally unveiled in 2017, Ruby chocolate is made with Ruby cocoa beans sourced from Ecuador, Brazil and the Ivory Coast of West Africa, and bursts with delicate sour berry flavours and a millennial-fabulous ruby hue. That's right — that's not food colouring you're seeing.
At the time it debuted the new flavour was hailed as the biggest innovation in the chocolate world since white chocolate was discovered 80 years ago.
The new Magnum flavours are part of a rare collaboration between Callebaut (pronounced Calebo) and the ice-cream brand, and well — we reckon it's a match made in heaven.
The newly-unveiled fourth choccie features in two luxurious new flavours: Magnum LUXE Ruby & Raspberry, featuring white chocolate ice-cream and raspberry swirls, and Magnum LUXE Ruby & Blood Orange, featuring zesty blood orange ice-cream.
The new desserts retail for $4.70 each or $10.50 for a four-pack, and are now available nationwide from most supermarkets and convenience stores.
For anyone who calls themselves a true choccie fan, it's a no-brainer.

July 6, 2020: The folks behind experimental Japanese dessert cafe Tokyo Lamington are teaming up with homegrown brand Koko Black for a one-day pop-up on World Chocolate Day, on Tuesday July 7, 2020.
With international travel off the cards for now, the one-day pop-up means Aussies can get a rare taste some of the brand's cult lamingtons at Koko Black stores in Sydney and Melbourne. Tokyo Lamington is currently only available in Singapore and Tokyo.
Famous for their unusually dense sponge base and quirky flavours, the popular brand have dreamt up some seriously decadent, special-edition cakes for the collab — from a Caramelised Coconut Lamington, to the native-leaning Davidson Plum and Thome Lamington, and a Triple Choc Lamington.
The brains behind the cult dessert enterprise include Eddie Stewart (former Black Star Pastry chef) and Min Chai (founder of N2 Extreme Gelato). The duo have turned heads with such non-traditional flavours as black sesame, matcha and fairy bread — all obscenely 'grammable, it goes without saying. Today, those flavours even include bubble tea, durian and cough syrup.
Dessert fans can purchase all three special edition lamingtons as a pack for $21, but with limited numbers available you'll want to get in early to avoid disappointment. Visit kokoblack.com for your nearest store.
May 28, 2020: Arnott's are putting the latest Tim Tam flavour offshoot in the Aussie public's hands, with a new online poll dividing hardcore fans of the biscuit.
The contending flavours — Tim Tam Double Choc Caramel Cream and Tim Tam Coconut Cream — are already polarising online critics, with Aussie comedians Christian Hull and Tanya Hennessey recruited to add fuel to the sweet, sweet debate.
The responses so far range from the hilarious to the downright brutal. And well, combos of both.
Coconut, usually a controversial flavour in our experience, is holding it's own nicely in the comments stakes.
"We have so many caramel flakes already! Let's get tropical," writes one Team Coconut fan.
"I am so on the side of coconut... caramel doesn't even have an emoji," another agrees.
Over on Team Caramel, the responses are just as biting.
"Coconut is only for body wash," writes one critic.
"There's flavours other than caramel? Never noticed!" another voter chimes in.
So far, the official poll is favouring caramel, but voting closes on June 2, so there's still hope for coconut lovers yet.
May 1, 2020: It turns out we're not the only ones experimenting in the kitchen in isolation. KitKat have been tinkering away at HQ, dreaming up new ways to make the 'have a break' treat even more indulgent — and well, they've succeeded.
The iconic choccie bar has launched two decadent new flavours; KitKat Gooey Caramel sneaks in a lustrous layer of caramel on a crisp wafer, while KitKat Mint Cookie Fudge combines wafer fingers with a delightful-sounding "mint fudge".
Nestlé head of marketing confectionery Joyce Tan said the brand is always looking for new ways to create "indulgent breaks", and she thinks the new range will deliver on that.
"We've taken the original qualities of the much-loved bar and created a light yet lavish treat for chocolate fans."
The new KitKat range is available nationwide in Coles, Woolworths, Big W and independent and convenience stores for RRP $2.
Magnum have just launched their "most decadent ice cream ever", with five new additions to the family.
The Australian and New Zealand launch means it's the perfect opportunity to chow down on some luxe ice cream before summer is over.
The newest additions include three new 'Magnum LUXE sticks' which comprises of Caramel Hazelnut Truffle, Raspberry Panna Cotta and Chocolate Cake Batter which retail for $9.00 for a pack of three. The new range also encompasses two new luxe tubs: Salted Caramel and Chocolate Ganache which retail for $9.50 per tub.
However, shoppers are currently in luck as currently in Coles and Woolworths every tub and pack of three ice creams are retailing for $6.50. So, if you're looking for a bargain for some 'luxe' food items, then now's the time to get them.
Everyone has seen those Insta-worthy birthday cakes made out of Kit Kats, but has anyone considered a Kit Kat made from birthday cake?
Kit Kat US certainly has, announcing 'Birthday Cake' as the latest in a series of limited edition flavours. Set to hit shelves in April, the new Kit Kat features a classic crispy wafer centre that has been drizzled in white creme and sprinkles. Yes, you read that right - this Kit Kat has sprinkles in it.
The packaging will also feature a fun celebratory blue design, similar to the test packaging above.
But Aussie Kit Kat fans will be disappointed to learn they may never get to taste this delectable creation. It's looking like this one will be a US exclusive, as it's being launched by the American Kit Kat company, which is owned by Hershey's.
November 14th, 2019: Darrell Lea's new limited edition summer flavours have landed, and they're already causing some controversy.
At 9Honey, we love a good taste test, and chocolate is always a winner. Well, almost always. Darrell Lea has unveiled its two limited edition summer flavours, and one at least has caused some seriously shocked responses in this office.
First off the bat was the undeniably fun Harbour Fireworks flavour milk chocolate block. Likened to an evening enjoying Sydney Harbour's New Year's fireworks, it's filled with caramelised popcorn, the crunch of rice bubbles and popping candy (the fireworks). A clear winner there, no argument.
But the second milk chocolate block of Gold Coast Road Trip saw a few arguments brewing, thanks to the inclusion of that most divisive ingredient - pineapple.
"Yeah, no thanks," was one response to the block containing soft pineapple pieces, toasted coconut and honeycomb.
"Are you kidding? It's delicious," was the reply, before there was spirited debate doing the rounds.
From this taste tester right here, you've got to try it and decide for yourself, but I'd suggest that even if you're not usually a pineapple lover, there's something beguiling about the tropical punch in the milk chocolate. It's certainly one to debate for the summer.
Just good luck if you think you can convert any of the pineapple haters out there... because you've got to get them to at least try it first, and that's where the drama begins.
Available at Woolworths nationally and with an RRP of AUD$5 for the block, we think the hilarious arguments alone are money well spent. Happy road tripping.
18th April, 2019: This might just be the best news to break before Easter.
Arnott's just took five of their classic biscuits flavours and transformed them into chocolate blocks.
From Iced Vovo to Wagon Wheels - the Australian biscuit brand has debuted a new chocolate experience for Australian's to get amongst.
“We’ve selected a range of flavours that we know Aussies are sure to love – whether it’s the delicious buttery crunch of Scotch Finger, the undeniable Wagon Wheel combination of biscuit, raspberry and marshmallow, the ever-humble coconut and raspberry from Iced VoVo, or the sweet and salty with Jatz, there’s something for everyone".
Lets start with the famous Wagon Wheel, and keep scrolling through for a sneak preview at all the new chocolate bars on offer.
Delicious crunch of the Scotch Finger with butter biscuit pieces is a classically indulgent choice!
Jatz! Because salty and sweet is always a good idea.
The Jatz block fuses rich milk chocolate with slightly salty cracker pieces.
