Dave Brown (born 24 August 1973) is a British comedian. He is most famous for his work with The Mighty Boosh. His most prominent role is that of Bollo the ape. He also plays Joey Moose, and several others, as well as choreographing the dance routines.
He is originally from Southend in Essex, where he attended South East Essex College (Now part of South Essex College) and then went on to attend Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College (now Buckinghamshire New University), where his degree was credited at Brunel University, along with Noel Fielding (who plays Vince Noir), and is an art director. He designed the DVD cover for the live tour and boxset, and also works as a designer and photographer.
Dave Brown was a pioneer of rugby league football in Australia.
He played in the opening 2 seasons of the new sport for Eastern Suburbs, 1908 and 1909.
A centre, Brown made 14 appearances for the East's club during the 1908 and 1909 seasons, including the NSWRL's first match and first premiership decider. He played one match in 1910 before retiring.
In the 1909, season Brown represented Australia in a match against a touring New Zealand Māori side that season Brown also appeared in several non-sanctioned matches between a rugby league's side known as the 'Kangaroos' and a rugby union side known as 'Wallabies'.
Like so many rugby league players of that time Brown was a former rugby union player, in 1907 he took part in the rebel series against the New Zealand 'All Golds' that helped to launch rugby league in Australia. In its appreciation, the NSWRL awarded Brown life membership in 1914.

Brown began his career on The Sunday Times in 1989, working for other publications before joining The Independent in 1996.
Brown became well known for his cartoon of former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon as a "Monster eating Palestinian babies" in a paraphrase on Saturn Devouring One of his Children, a grotesque painting done by Francisco de Goya in 1819. For this cartoon, Brown won the 2003 Political Cartoon of the Year award, presented by the former cabinet minister Clare Short on 25 November 2003 at the headquarters of The Economist in London.
After it received numerous complaints, the Press Complaints Commission (PCC) decided that the cartoon did not breach its code.
