Argentine „Futbol“ Roundup: Atlanta Campeon, Disturbances and Death at Velez – San Lorenzo, etc.

Its been a while since there was a little report on the high and lowlights of the Argentine futbol world, but as usual there has been no lack of interesting anecdotes….

First and foremost, I have been afraid to mention it as superstitious fears of possible consequences impede me to think clearly, but at this point it seems safe to say it: ATLANTA IS LEAVING THIRD DIVISION!!!! After an 11 year long nightmare, there are now 10 games remaining in the season, and Atlanta is 12 points ahead of the second placed team.

*For a couple of weeks, not only was Atlanta first, but Racing was in first place as well, a confusing change from the reality we know, which led me to often have to pinch myself to make sure this wasnt a dream. Here as well, I was too afraid to make public mention of this situation, for fear of provoking bad luck. Now that Racing has lost the last two games and is no longer first, Im assuming its safe.

*What always was and probably always will be unsafe is of course attending a futbol match in Argentina, as Velez and San Lorenzo insist on making terribly clear twice a year. This time, Velez fans advanced all the way to the San Lorenzo entrance of the stadium, one San Lorenzo fan died after a police beating, and the game was suspended after seven minutes because of disturbances in the stands.

Prague: Mayday 2011

We would like to draw your attention to this excellent event organized by Czech Antifascist Action every year in Prague. Fire and Flames will be there, and we strongly suggest you be there as well! Lots of people, great atmosphere, wonderful location, creative, diverse, and even child friendly, and of course politically very support worthy. You can see pictures of last years Mayday festival here.

Aside from the excellent work on Mayday, the Czech antifa has also recently released a very readable article regarding the ever increasing efforts of Neo Nazis to take advantage of and assume elements of „alternative“ subcultures. This phenomenom, ever stronger in Germany, seems to be most massive in the Czech Republic. You can read the article here.

MayDay Festival 2011

„On behalf of Antifascist Action, we invite you to May Day – a political festival with cultural overlap – for the fourth time. The festival will take place on the 1st May 2011 on Císařská louka in Prague, starting at 12:00.

During the first day of May, many Czech as well as foreign bands will take over the stage, as well as interesting lecturers, workshops, theatre plays and movie screenings that you will get a chance to attend. Kids as well as their parents will for sure welcome the possibility to visit the children’s corner where the kids can play with their parents or be taken care of when their mom and dad want to see their favourite band or a lecture. We will kick off the celebrations of 15 years of Antifascist Action on Císařská louka, so we worked really hard to make you love the program. So let’s see what is there for you to enjoy:

We continue with the past years trend and so we extended the lecture part of the festival some more. This year, our festival will host the following names: ALAN CARTER, professor of Philosophy on the Glasgow University, an influential anarchist thinker concentrating on ethics, moral philosophy, human impact on the environment and it’s relation to the life itself. JOHN HOLLOWAY, sociologist and lecturer of the Autonomous University of Puebla, who is cooperating on a long-time basis with the Zapatista movement. We will also be honored to welcome an anarchist activist and member of the antifranquist resistance OCTAVIO ALBEROLA. A representative of the KPK (Collectively against Capital) group will give a lecture on the reforms in the Czech Republic and a representative of the Mouvement Communiste will speak about the recent revolts in the Arab countries.

The musical part of the festival will again be very colorful – many bands across genres wanting to support the emancipating ideals agreed to play. You can look forward to the uncompromising metal/hardcore of the Germany’s own HEAVEN SHALL BURN. HSB have their space among the top of their genre and they will play in Prague after a couple of years, and this time completely without getting paid, as well as all the other bands and performers. Among these, there will be PSH – a Czech hip-hop legend that will bring many of their guests on stage in a special MayDay set. Ska fans will sure welcome a big name of the scene – THE CHANCERS, who are well known for the energy of their shows. The Serbian RED UNION will bring their melodic HC/punk with a clear political message, as well as their brothers in arms, BAYONETTES. The up-to-date form of hip-hop will be represented by LUSHLIFE from USA, another band representing overseas will be SPECTRES from Canada, bringing their energic post punk following the path of Joy Division or Wire. There will also be two bands from Slovakia ready to make your blood run fast – VANDALI and ILÚZIA. The former mixes fast HC/punk with a load of humor and sarcasm and the latter builds mainly on the singer’s perfect voice and original compositions. The charismatic singer/songwriter DAŠA FON FLAŠA is also of a Slovak origin. He is an amazing player with words, as well as ARAN SATAN. The strictly underground punk scene will be represented by JONESTOWN and their crust/HC. So this year’s lineup is complete and all we can say is that we are very happy to see so many bands from such different genres and subcultures standing hand in hand on such a festival as MayDay.

There will also be a theatre performance called “Vandaska” (a name based on the surname of the infamous Workers Party leader Vandas) by the theatre company ZTRACENÁ EXISTENCE (Lost Existence), workshops and movie screenings. There will also be a lot of space for presentations of anti-authoritarian, ecological and other groups and collectives. Vegan catering and a coffee place offering fair trade treats are a sure thing.“

Solidarity with CSO Gramigna

The following is a statement from our friends and comrades from Padova regarding the raid, destruction of, and arrests at CSO Gramigna.

Demokratische Abrissbagger

Heute morgen führte die Stadtverwaltung Paduas eine militärische Aktion durch, mit etwa 100 Bullen, Carabinieri und Angestellten von Privatfirmen. Das Ziel dieser Aktion war es, das CPO Gramigna nach 5-monatiger Besetzung zu räumen und sich den Schulkomplex “Davila-Zanella” im Stadtviertel “Torre” wieder unter den Nagel zu reißen. Es endete mit dem Abriss von einem der beiden Gebäude, der Beschlagnahme des Anderen und 6 Anzeigen.

Die Genossen wurden zwar sofort von den Nachbarn benachrichtigt – mit denen sie mittlerweile eine gute Beziehung pflegen – jedoch blieb ihnen nichts anderes übrig als zuzusehen, wie die feigen Schergen des Bonzenstaates ihre schmutzige Arbeit verrichten. Dass gerade jetzt die Räumung beschlossen wurde, ist kein Zufall. Die Genossen vom Gramigna haben im Stadtviertel richtig Fuss gefasst und trieben verschiedene politische und soziale Aktivitäten voran (“Volksturnhalle”, Konzerte, antifaschistische und antiimperialistische Iniziativen, Gemüsegarten,…) und planten neue.

Für das Gramigna ist es nichts Neues Räumungen zu erleiden – wie seine Geschichte beweißt – besonders in den letzten Jahren, mit der immer repressiver werdenden Politik der Verwaltung , die die sozialen Probleme betreffen. Der Bürgermeister Zanonato vom PD (demokratische Partei) verhängt seit Jahren Ausgangssperren, Strafen und Verbote, um jede kollektive Erfahrung oder jedes Subjekt zu neutralisieren, das sich “schuldig” gemacht hat, das Gleichgewicht seiner perfekten und sauberen Stadt zu stören. Wie es für einen treuen Freund der vielen “Herren des Zements” gehört, hat Zanonato bewiesen, dass in seiner perfekten und sauberen Stadt die gültige Währung die Kubikmeter sind, betrachtet man den Bau von Hochhäusern, Brücken, Straßenüberführungen und Mega-Parkplätzen die er während seiner Amtszeit vorantrieb. Das fondamentale Problem besteht darin, dass diese rießigen, meist unnötigen Bauten durch die öffentliche Verschuldung finanziert wurden, und die Stadtverwaltung, um nicht bankrott zu gehen, seine öffentlichen Güter zu verkaufen.

Der Schulkomplex “Davila-Zanella” (seit Jahren verlassen!) ist eines dieser Güter das der korrupte Verwaltungapperat verkaufen will, und gerade dewegen wurde es vom Gramigna besetzt und von den Bonzen wieder geräumt. Das ist nicht der einzige Grund der Räumung: allein die Existenz einer politischen Realität wie das Gramigna – die die Fahne des Antikapitalismus und des Klassenkampfes stets aufrecht hält – bedeutet ein Problem für eine verfaulte Partei wie der PD, eine Partei die sich nur geeint sieht in einer chauvinistischen Rethorik, in der Privatisierung der öffentlichen Güter und im Unterstützen der Kriegsmissionen und der Ausbeutung der Arbeiterklasse. Gerade weil es wichtig und notwendig ist, ein Problem für diese Spekulanten darzustellen, setzen wir uns für eine Selbstbestimmung ein, ausgehend von den reelen Bedürfnissen. Deswegen ist es notwendig sofort nach Torre zurückzukehren und das gute Verhältnis mit den Anreinern zu stärken und vielleicht mit einer Unterschriftensammlung die Freigabe der Schule für soziale Aktivitäten im Viertel zu fordern. Wir sind auf eurer Seite!

Hannover: Solidarität mit Sven, Stefan, und Tim!

Am 13.Mai, dem sogenannten Vatertag, letzten Jahres kam es in Hannovers Nordstadt zu einer Auseinandersetzung zwischen AntifaschistInnen und Nazis die trinkend einen Pub belagerten und zuvor durch Pöbeleien sowie körperliche Bedrohungen gegen einen Migranten aufgefallen waren.

Dieser Vorfall zieht mittlerweile immer weitere Kreise: Gegen drei Personen, die nach dem Vorfall von den Bullen in der Nordstadt aufgegriffen wurden, wurden die Ermittlungen mittlerweile eingestellt, doch für Sven, Stefan und Tim, die die Nazis mittels einer Bildvorlage erkannt haben wollen, wird die Lage zusehends ernst: Die Anklage wegen gefährlicher Körperverletzung in gemeinschaftlicher Begehung ist raus, der erste Verhandlungstermin ist bereits angesetzt.
Politische, finanzielle und persönliche Unterstützung ist spätestens jetzt notwendig.

Da der Prozess von Sven, Stefan und Tim also immer näher rückt, ist es jetzt an der Zeit eine breite Öffentlichkeit herzustellen und auf das skandalöse Vorgehen der Repressionsbehörden aufmerksam zu machen!

Deshalb möchten wir alle politischen Gruppen, Subkulturprojekte, Bands, Fanzines, Zeitungen, Lokalitäten, Magazine etc. dazu aufrufen unsere Kampagne für die angeklagten Antifaschisten Sven, Stefan und Tim zu unterstützen und sich per E-Mail an uns in die UnterstützerInnenliste eintragen zu lassen! Wenn möglich, würden wir uns natürlich auch freuen, wenn ihr z.B. durch ein verlinktes Banner auf unsere Seite aufmerksam macht.

Zudem rufen wir euch dazu auf Solidaritätsaktionen in euren Städten zu machen und damit unsere Kampagne für die angeklagten Antifaschisten Sven, Stefan & Tim aus Hannover zu unterstützen und zu bewerben! Klebt Plakate, verteilt Flugblätter, macht Graffiti und Schablonen, hängt Transparente auf und sonstiges was euch so einfällt!
Schickt uns die Fotos eurer Aktion, oder wenn ihr auf eine unterstützende Aktion aufmerksam geworden seid und wir veröffentlichen euer Zeichen der praktischen Solidarität auf unserer Seite!
