Headcanons about friendships and relationships in the Realm: Cannibal edition

Claudette

  • The first friend that each of them made in the realm; they met one day when Claudette, feeling isolated from her group, wandered too far from the safety of the campfire. Understanding Bubba’s loneliness, she was able to pacify and de-escalate a potentially violent encounter simply by reacting with kindness.
  • Claudette is main object of Bubba’s affectionate nature. She can expect lots of the pats and kisses on the head that he sorely missed giving out. Despite any protests, he will try to clean her up post-trial, and scolds any killer that he thinks is too rough on his best friend.
  • Some of Bubba’s most peaceful moments at home were spent in his sunflower patch. When Claudette noticed his affinity for the flowers growing around the realm, she helped recreate his old garden, and even taught him to grow some food that the two could share.
  • Listening to her talk is one of the best parts of his say. Whether it’s about plants, Claudette’s experiences in trials, or stories from her former life, her familiar voice always soothes him.

Steve

  • Less of a friendship and more of an unwilling coworker interaction. When he learned that Steve formerly worked in food service, Bubba immediately “recruited” him to assist at his own new BBQ joint when he was in need of an extra pair of hands.
  • He does like Steve’s stylish hairdo, and the amount of attention he gets for his good looks has not gone unnoticed. Bubba will eventually get the hang of running things on his own, but Steve’s lack of skill and repulsion for butchering his friends does get frustrating for a hard working cannibal. If Steve wants to continue enjoying his own features, and not be replaced by a grisly look-alike in a sailor hat, he should keep up the good work and try to show some initiative in the workplace!

Huntress

  • The two enjoy each other’s quiet company, working at sharpening hatchets or repairing chainsaws while Anna hums lullabies. This reminds takes him back to happier times at home listening to his brother sing.
  • Bubba likes the bloodied animal remains that she sometimes dresses in. Admittedly, it does get his tummy rumbling and he can’t resist taking just a teeny sample whenever Anna isn’t looking. Any animal pelts she doesn’t keep will be offered to him first for use as decoration.
  • He is respectful of the handcrafted masks Anna’s mother made for her. Bubba will not touch them without being offered, even though he wishes to feel their textures, understanding that they are precious and believing them means of self-expression.

Trickster

  • He may not know anything of modern pop but music loving Bubba is always impressed by the various talented acts within the realm. And he admires Ji-Woon’s coat, which matches his own yellow garb. A proud moment for Bubba was bringing barbecue to serve at one of his shows, though it’s unclear if he was actually invited to do so.
  • Ji-Woon’s blades are too brittle for heavy duty butchering work, but Bubba still appreciates their neon design, as pretty, colourful things tend to be scarce in the realm as well as the home he left behind. Eventually he finds some pieces left over from one of the Trickster’s trials and makes an ornament for his little hideaway, much like the decorations he would build with his brothers.

Twins

  • He can’t help but feel pangs of jealousy considering he wasn’t so lucky to have a beloved sibling join him in the fog. And even though the Twin’s prefer the company of each other to anyone else, Bubba would still do anything to defend them. He eventually starts to treat Victor as something akin to a baby brother, which he never had before as the youngest in his former family.
