Alleged Mongrol Mub prospect unprovoked assault to gain patch by planespotterhvn in chch

[–]chopsuwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you provide a link that there was a death penalty for speaking Te Reo?

Corporal punishment means beating, not killing. Yeesh, schools weren't that bad!

Guilt has nothing to do with it. if we want to move on as a country and break the chain of resentment, disillusionment and generational poverty we need to address both the current problems and the cause.

Aren't we all fucking over it?

Probably not for those in the over 50 year old age bracket who had to live through the societal and government mandated racial discrimination, the land confiscation that continued in on for or another right up to the 1970s, corporal punishment for speaking their own language, etc. Even as recently as the late 1990s learning Maori in school was very much looked down on by the general population.

How would you feel about being told you were stupid for being Maori for the first 20 years of your life? It's not hard to see how you'd end up being bitter and twisted then going on to raise your kids that way too.

That's not to say there's no personal responsibility involved, because there absolutely is. It's just that saying "their ancestors" is really brushing it off when in reality it was them and their parents who went through it.

After 7 years, Arduino IDE will return to the Debian repositories by Crapcircles in arduino

[–]chopsuwe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ah right, so it's just that particular way of installing that was broken.

I've never really understood the point of the repository. Either way I'm going to have to search for the software so might as well use Google which does a better does a better job at correcting a badly spelled/remembered name as well as suggesting alternative programs when I don't know which one to use.

Windows didn't have to wait 7 years for it to work. I'd call that better support.
