Oso Blanco Page Updated with Incident Reports

South Brooklyn ABC

Download and view an incident report here on how Oso Blanco (Chubbuck) refused to state his register number in protest of his illegal captivity “On February 6, 2012, at approxamately 9:50am this writer [prison staff] ordered inmate Chubbuck #07909-051 to state his name and register number and only stated he was Chubbuck of the Chubbuck clan and he is sovereign.” Page two of the same file reports the altercation that USP Lewisburg arranged and encouraged to happen so that they would have a pretext to retaliate against Oso Blanco by transfering him to a more restrictive unit.

And listen to the rock song "Oso Blanco" if you haven't!

Stand up for Captive Cherokee Warrior Oso Blanco

sbrooklynabcf

NOTE- As of 2/5/2012 Oso Blanco's supporters are asking that calls me directed to
SMU Louisiana rather than Louisburg. Please note the updated contact info below.

In October, Cherokee political prisoner Byron Shane of Chubbuck (also known as Oso
Blanco and Yona Unega) was preparing for a federal transfer from USP Lewisburg to
FCI Oakdale, Louisiana, Special Management Unit (SMU). Lewisburg staff were well
aware of the vital tribal documents included in his property which were packed out
intact by Mr. Vey on October 4, 2011.

This transfer was canceled. There was a lot of delay and confusion in getting Oso
Blanco's property returned to him. Property came back from Oakdale, Louisiana and
was unpacked on January 13, 2012. Oso Blanco's address book was torn in two. Vital
documents that had been inserted inside and held with a rubber band were missing.
Other items were missing. Generally the property was ransacked in a manner well
beyond simple negligence or sloppiness but rather, showing clear signs deliberate
destruction.

*Missing documents include the following:

*Copy of old original blue card
(Cherokee citizenship enrollment official document)

*New original blue card

*Eagle permit
(us federal fish and wildlife recognition of a member of a federally recognized
tribe allowed to possess eagle feathers for traditional spiritual purposes)

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

This latest example of vindictive abuse from the Bureau of Prisons is part of a
long-term pattern of targeted harassment Oso Blanco his refusal to cooperate with
political incarceration by the United States as he does not recognize the us as
having any legitimate power over him as a sovereign Cherokee.

This latest round of harassment in the form of ransacked and stolen property comes
as retribution for his filing on the basis of the US having no plenary powers over
indigenous nations as articulated by Steven T Newcomb in his article, "No Plenary
Power Over Indian Nations".

Oso Blanco has asserted his sovereignty as a Cherokee not subject to bogus
criminalization so his captors have responded by trying to erase the documentation
that proves his Cherokee citizenship.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

On Monday, February 6th, starting at 9am Eastern time, call Oakdale
and demand that inmate Byron Shane Chubbuck (#07909-051)'s missing property be
recovered and returned to him intact.

Call FCI Oakdale at 318-335-4070 and ask for Warden Joseph P Young's office.

Alternately ask for the Receiving and Discharge (R&D) Department or the Security
Investigative Section (SIS) of the Special Management Unit (SMU).

Email sbrooklynabcf [at] riseup [dot] net to let us know how calls are going and/or
comment on posts.

After calling or making a commitment to call yourself, forward, repaste, repost,
facebook, tweet, text, talk, and/or make flyers to hand out.

Oso Blanco also asks that you take a moment to read Steve Newcomb's "No Plenary
Powers Over Indian Nations"

Monday, November 21st - Call-in for Oso Blanco

NYC ABC received this e-mail from one of Oso Blanco's supporters. Take the
time to call in and demand Oso Blanco be given his belongings.

CALL-IN on behalf of Byron "Oso Blanco" Chubbuck Monday, NOVEMBER 21st

Byron “Oso Blanco” Chubbuck is serving 80 years for unarmed bank robbery,
aggravated assault on the FBI, escape, and firearms charges. A
confidential informant reported that Oso Blanco was robbing banks in order
to acquire funds to support the Zapatistas and indigenous children in
Chiapas, Mexico, throughout 1998-99. Because of his political background,
Oso Blanco has been subjected to horrendous treatment by the guards at the
U.S. Penitentiary Lewisburg.

There will be a coordinated effort to call in, on behalf of Byron Shane
Chubbuck. The call-in will take place from 10 am to 12 pm est, on Monday,
November 21st. If you cannot call during this time, please try calling at
another time on the 21st.

The number for U.S. Penitentiary Lewisburg is 570.523.1251

Ask for the Warden Bledsoe's Office.

Byron Chubbuck was scheduled to be transferred to another facility, but
when that transfer was cancelled two boxes with Byron's belongings were
withheld and, for three weeks, have not been returned. He has not been
told if and when he will get his personal property back. On November 1st,
Mr. Chubbuck had number of items taken from his cell during a
“shake-down,” in which a guard came into Byron's cell and went through all
of his belongings. This particular guard has repeatedly assaulted and
harassed Byron over the past few years at Lewisburg.

The list of items taken from Byron's cell on November 1st:

***Contact addresses and phone numbers
***Medicine cream kill ring worm
***A letter written to his father, ready to be mailed out
***Mickey Mouse drawing for his friends daughter
***Hair oil, to take care of his long hair
***His cellie's food that his cellie had bought

This call-in also intended to bring a new, fresh reminder to the staff at
Lewisburg Penitentiary, that Byron “Oso Blanco” Chubbuck is not alone and
has wide, mass support. We have his back and will not let any injustices,
no matter how minor or severe the harassment may be, slip through the
cracks.

Sample of what to say:

"Hello, I'm calling in concern of inmate Byron Chubbuck (#07909051). I'm
requesting that two boxes from Mr Chubbuck's cancelled transfer be
returned to him and also property that was taken from his cell on November
1st from one of the guards, named Gee. (pronounced like you would be
saying 'geese'). (List the items stolen during the shake-down.) Mr.
Chubbuck will let us know if his property is not returned. Thank you for
you time."

You can write Oso Blanco and tell him you've supported him at:
