Jeep Car Leases

Jeep is a registered trademark of Chrysler and is the oldest off road vehicle ever created. The original prototype of the 4 wheel drive car was created by designer Karl Probst through the American Bantam Car Company and Willys-Overland. The two manufacturing firms had been contacted by the United States army to create a war-worthy vehicle in a challenging 49 day period.

The preliminary model, called the Bantam BRC, was taken for its first test drive in September 1940.

Why lease a Jeep

From that point onwards, the Jeep became associated with military operations and battle procedures due to its unique and robust features - reconnaissance and exploration assignments were easier to implement in the open air light vehicle. In 1950 Willys-Overland Inc renamed the car as a Jeep, which was already the well known slang term for untried or untested vehicles amongst military staff.

After the war, Jeeps became available for layman use in 1945 making them more famous amongst ordinary members of the public. Production of the first few Civilian Jeeps was under way and the Jeep Marque was eventually bought by Kaiser Motors in 1953 and then the American Motors Corporation (AMC) in 1970. Soon after this the Jeep CJ-7 was replaced with the Jeep Wrangler and the AMC was bought out by Chrysler in 1987.

Today Chrysler Group LLC own the Jeep name and there are six models in total including the Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Commander, Jeep Liberty, Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot. They boast a selection of off road abilities and features such as solid front and rear axles, electronically activated locking differentials and heavy duty expansion. The assembly of these models has taken place across a host of countries in Europe, Asia and America illustrating the world wide appeal of this outstanding vehicle, which has never lost its quirky edge despite the upsurge of modern manufacturers and designs.
