Report: West Ham agree to pay record €28 million fee for Simone Zaza

West Ham United could break their transfer record before the transfer window closes by signing Simone Zaza for €28 million from Juventus.

The 25-year-old striker will be familiar to many for his penalty miss as Italy exited Euro 2016 against Germany at the quarter-final stage during the summer.

Zaza, who only moved to the Serie A champions last year from Sassuolo, has been a long-term target of the Hammers.

He is now expected to complete a medical in London on Friday ahead of an official unveiling, with West Ham boss Slaven Bilic confirming that there is a deal in the works.

I’m not going to tell you the details but we have been linked with Zaza last year also, last summer.

He’s a top player and I like him. I was here last year so it tells you everything and we were in contact with him last year, it didn’t happen. We will see if it does this year in the next few days.

Zaza scored eight times in 24 games in all competitions for Juventus last season, and he has one international goal to his name from 14 appearances.
