Aston Villa sign Australian skipper Mile Jedinak from Crystal Palace

Aston Villa have continued their post-relegation rebuild with the acquisition of midfielder Mile Jedinak from Crystal Palace for an undisclosed fee.

The 32-year-old had been the club captain at Selhurst Park as recently as last season but fell out of favour with boss Alan Pardew, and he moves to Villa on a three-year deal.

However, the dead ball specialist will not be available for selection for his new club until his visa is sorted out with the English Football League (EFL) and the Football Association (FA).

Jedinak began his career with Sydney United in Australia before playing three seasons with the Central Coast Mariners in the A-League.

A spell in Turkey with Gençlerbirliği and Antalyaspor followed, and in 2011 he made the switch to England by joining Crystal Palace.

At international level, Jedinak captained the Socceroos to Asian Cup success in 2015, and he has scored 12 goals in 64 appearances to date.

New Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo has also added Ross McCormack, James Chester, Tommy Elphick, Aaron Tshibola and Pierluigi Gollini to the squad for this season.
