NYC Mayor de Blasio says the city will cancel all contracts with the Trump Organization

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Wednesday that the city will terminate business contracts with the Trump Organization following last week's Capitol insurrection. Mayor de Blasio said the city has “the right to terminate contracts...if a criminal act has been committed, and a criminal act has been committed.” In response to the announcement, President Trump’s son Eric said NYC “has no legal right to end our contracts and if they elect to proceed, they will owe The Trump Organization over $30 million dollars.”

The US carried out the execution of Lisa Montgomery in Indiana early on Wednesday morning, the 11th prisoner executed since July when President Donald Trump resumed federal executions after 17 years. Montgomery, whose legal team says she suffered from "sexual torture" and had mental health issues, strangled an expectant mother in Missouri and cut the baby from her womb in 2004.
