Lazer Guided Melodies is the debut studio album by English space rock band Spiritualized. The album was recorded by the inaugural line up of the band, consisting of Jason Pierce (vocals, guitars), Mark Refoy (guitars), Will Carruthers (bass), Jonny Mattock (drums) and Kate Radley (keyboards) from 1990 to 1991, and mixed by Pierce in London in January 1992. The album was first released on Dedicated Records in March 1992, on cassette, Compact Disc and Vinyl (2 x LP, with initial copies containing an additional free 7").

Initially released on two 45rpm vinyl LPs, the album's twelve songs are segued together into four colour-coded (red, green, blue, black), cross-faded suites. As such, the album was included in Pitchfork's 2010 list of "ten unusual CD-era gimmicks".

Pure Phase is the second album by Spiritualized, released on 28 March 1995. The album was recorded in the Moles Studio in Bath, and features contributions from The Balanescu Quartet. Initial CD copies were sold in a glow-in-the-dark, encapsulated CD case.

The lineup fluctuated during recording, with the band eventually reduced to a core trio of Jason Pierce, Kate Radley and Sean Cook. Previous members Mark Refoy and Jonny Mattock performed the main guitar and drums sections respectively, but by the time of album release, both men had been sacked from the band. At the time of release, Pierce had renamed the band as "Spiritualized Electric Mainline", the name that appears on the album cover, before reverting to the Spiritualized name shortly afterwards.

In 2014, NME included the album in its list of "30 Glorious Britpop Albums That Deserve a Reissue Pronto."

"Stay" is a song by UK-based pop act Shakespears Sister, released by London Records in January 1992 as the second single from their album Hormonally Yours. The single was a global hit, becoming the duo's first and only number-one single in numerous territories, including the UK, where it topped the UK Singles Chart for eight consecutive weeks and was the fourth-biggest-selling single of 1992. "Stay" also reached No. 1 in Sweden and in band member Siobhan Fahey's birthplace, Ireland, for six weeks, and it was a transatlantic hit, reaching No. 4 on both the US Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian RPM Top Singles chart.

At the 1993 Brit Awards "Stay" won the award for British Video of the Year. In November 2010, The X Factor contestant Cher Lloyd performed the song on series 7 of the show. Following this, the original version re-entered the UK, Ireland and the European Hot 100 Singles charts. The song originally sold 490,000 copies in the UK by the end of 1992 which was a year that saw low single sales, as of February 2012 it had sold over 600,000 copies[2] (the threshold for a Platinum certification in the UK. As well as being used on The X Factor, the song has also been featured on Britain's Got Talent, Dancing on Ice, Strictly Come Dancing, The Voice UK, etc.

Rising from social media to become a recording artist, Michigan native DDG traded comedy for rapping, releasing a series of singles and collaborations in the late 2010s. His self-released debut, Take Me Serious, arrived in 2018.

Born Darryl Granberry Jr. in Pontiac, DDG got his start in 2014, posting videos online as PontiacMadeDDG. As his following grew to over a million subscribers, he continued creating comedic content (parodies, pranks, skits, and challenges) until transitioning to rap. Early singles "Dope" and "Lettuce" with Famous Dex arrived around 2017. As his audience expanded, he attracted more high-profile collaborators, including YBN Nahmir, G Herbo, and Black Youngsta on "Run It Up" and Queen Naija on "Hold Up." He issued the mixtape Take Me Serious in 2018, following in 2019 with the EP Sorry 4 the Hold Up (Epic/Sony).

Birds of Tokyo are an alternative rock band from Australia who rose to domestic mainstream success with their second album, Universes (2008). Founded in 2004 in Perth, Western Australia, the band originally comprised Karnivool's Ian Kenny (vocals), Adam Spark (guitar), Anthony Jackson (bass), and Adam Weston (drums). Birds of Tokyo made their recording debut in 2005 with a pair of EPs (Birds of Tokyo, One Way/Stay) released in association with the independent label Egg Records. The song "Stay" earned the band its first of many WAMi Awards (West Australian Music Industry Awards), this one for Rock Song of the Year. Two years later, Birds of Tokyo released their full-length album debut, Day One (2007), and won a pair of WAMi Awards (Favorite Newcomer, Best Male Vocalist). Their second album, Universes (2008), marked their mainstream breakthrough, peaking at number three on the Australian albums chart and spawning a pair of singles ("Silhouettic," "Broken Bones").

The band's eponymously titled third album was released by EMI in July of 2010, included the hit singles “Plans” and “Wild at Heart,” and went on to receive double-platinum certifications. Following this success, the Australian music industry accolades continued to flood in. These included APRA awards for songwriting and a “Most Popular Australian Artist” award at the 2011 ARIA ceremony. Ahead of sessions in Los Angeles for a fourth album with David Cooley and Tony Hoffer, Birds of Tokyo brought two new players into the fold: Glenn Sarangapany on keyboards and Ian Berney who replaced Jackson on bass. Also prior to these sessions, Kenny, Spark, and Weston each left Perth behind, relocating to cities on the eastern coast of Australia. The resulting record, March Fires, was appropriately released in March 2013 and became the band's first album to hit the number one spot in the Australian charts, eventually going gold. The success of March Fires opened up new doors for the band internationally, and they spent much of 2014 in the U.S. with Los Angeles as their temporary home base. In between U.S. tours, they wrote and recorded four new songs which were released in April 2015 as the standalone EP Anchor. Brace, the band's dark and gritty fifth studio long-player, dropped the following year.

Enigmatic indie R&B singer Allan Rayman has managed to keep a shadowy profile during his brief music career. After casually dropping a strangely alluring self-released LP called Hotel Allan in 2015, the Lost Springs, Wyoming native racked up an impressive amount of plays, thanks largely to word of mouth and a series of mysterious videos that play like short films. Based out of Toronto, Rayman maintained his cryptic presence on-stage as well, singing soulfully to either pre-recorded tracks or minimal instrumentation, then sitting at a small on-stage table sipping a drink between songs while eerie pre-recorded messages play over the P.A. In spite of his low profile, Rayman built a loyal following who eagerly received his second missive, Roadhouse 01, a similarly strange mix of R&B, soul, hip-hop, and folk that chronicles an alter ego called "Mr. Roadhouse". It was released in early 2017 on Mumford & Sons member Ben Lovett's Communion Records. In 2018, he picked up a Juno Award nomination for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. A full-length, Harry Hard-On, appeared later that year, its titled taken from the 1990 Christian Slater-starring film Pump Up the Volume. Taking the reference even further, Rayman's 2020 album, Christian, was thematically centered around that same film.

Yet another power metal ensemble showcasing the widely acknowledged and always in-demand talents of Greek guitar hero Gus G. (whose real name is Kostas Karamitroudis, and whose other credits include Dream Evil and Mystic Prophecy, among countless guest spots), Firewind blurs the lines between serious band and casual side project with its fluid multinational membership and surprisingly busy musical output. The latter has been represented by dependably regular releases such as Between Heaven and Hell (2002), Burning Earth (2003), Forged by Fire (2004), Allegiance (2006), The Premonition (2008), Days of Defiance (2010), and Few Against Many (2012), while the former has seen musicians like American vocalist Stephen Fredrick (also involved with Finland's Kenziner), Greek keyboardist Bob Katsionis (Septic Flesh), and American drummer Mark Cross (Helloween, Nightfall, Winters Bane, etc.) come and go. Cousins Husky Gawenda and Gideon Preiss grew up in Australia and developed a love of music, writing songs and listening to records together throughout their teenage years. In 2008, the two started a band, enlisting Melbourne scenesters Evan Tweedie on bass and vocals and Luke Vollins on drums, augmenting Preiss' keyboard and vocal duties and Gawenda's vocals and guitars. Taking the name Husky, the band was born. The group drew on Preiss and Gawenda's shared love of literate classic rock staples when developing its sound, melding artful songwriting inspired by the likes of Leonard Cohen and the Doors with Gawenda's poetic lyrics. The bandmembers worked tirelessly on songwriting and live performance, eventually setting up a makeshift home studio to record the basic tracks for their debut album. After working for months on the basic tracks, Husky handed over their raw materials to producer Noah Georgeson (famed for his work with artists like the Strokes and Joanna Newsom) to handle the final mixing process. The end result was their hauntingly folky debut album, Forever So, released in late 2011 on Liberation Music.

In 2011 the group also won the Pushover talent competition hosted by Australian radio institution Triple J. This opened many doors for Husky, and the band quickly gained new fans as well as landing support slots for established artists such as Gotye, Devendra Banhart, and Noah and the Whale. Husky began negotiating a deal with U.S. indie mainstay Sub Pop, which planned a global re-release of Forever So for 2012. Husky was the first Australian band to be signed to Sub Pop. Their 2014 follow-up album, Rucker's Hill, was also released through Liberation Music down under and Sub Pop in the U.S. In June 2017 Husky dropped their third LP, Punchbuzz. The band set out on an Australian tour in support, though several dates had to be postponed when Gawenda was diagnosed with glandular fever.

Taking inspiration from Herman Melville's classic tale of a great white whale and the infatuated ship's captain who pursued it, Ahab first tested their creation in the shallow waters of a 2004 single entitled "The Stream" and 2005 demo named The Oath, before diving into the deep end with their 2006 album, the Napalm-issued The Call of the Wretched Sea. The Divinity of Oceans arrived in 2009, followed by The Giant in 2012. In 2015 the band released their fourth studio long player, The Boats of the Glen Carrig, a concept album built around the 1907 horror novel of the same name penned by William Hope Hodgson.

John Symon Asher Bruce (14 May 1943 – 25 October 2014), known professionally as Jack Bruce, was a Scottish singer-songwriter, musician and composer. He gained popularity as the lead vocalist and bass guitarist of British rock band Cream. After the group disbanded in 1968, he pursued a solo career and also played with several bands.

In the early 1960s, Bruce joined the Graham Bond Organisation, where he met his future bandmate Ginger Baker. After leaving the Graham Bond Organisation, he joined with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, where he met Eric Clapton, who also was his future bandmate. His time with the band was brief. In 1966, he joined Cream with lead guitarist Clapton and drummer Baker. He co-wrote hits like "Sunshine of Your Love", "White Room" and "I Feel Free", with songwriter Pete Brown. After the band disbanded, Bruce formed his own blues rock band West, Bruce and Laing in 1972, with guitarist Leslie West and drummer Corky Laing. In the late 1960s, he started recording solo albums. His first solo album, Songs for a Tailor, released in 1969, was a worldwide hit. His solo career spanned several decades. From the 1970s to 1990s, he played with several groups as a touring member. In 2005, he reunited with Cream, for concerts in Royal Albert Hall and Madison Square Garden in New York.

Bruce is considered to be one of the most important and influential bass guitarists of all time. Rolling Stone magazine readers ranked him number eight on their list of "10 Greatest Bass Guitarist Of All Time". He was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, and was awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006, both as a member of Cream.

His first marriage was with Janet Godfrey in 1964, with whom he had two sons, Jonas and Malcolm. Their marriage ended in a divorce in 1981. His second marriage was with Margret Seyfer in 1982, with whom he had two daughters Natascha, Kyla and a son named Corin. He died of liver disease on 25 October, 2014 in England, aged 71. At the time of his death, he had a net worth of 20 million dollars.

South London jazz and soul singer Poppy Ajudha is versatile enough to lend her vocals to disco and electronic cuts, but she shines brightest on her original jazz-infused solo tracks.

Keenly creative in her teen years, Ajudha began writing poetry at age 16. She joined a local youth club workshop, STEEZ, where she met fellow musicians and formed the band. From there she went on to collaborate with numerous other artists, including Tom Misch, Kojey Radical, and Gilles Peterson. Her debut EP, Femme, arrived in 2018.
