They're a very likable character, and as @nekrotikon says, "I feel like I could be friends with all of [Rick Riordan's] characters.

Riley is the genderfluid, teenage main character of this book, which follows their journey of coming out to the people around them. And, I own and have read this book! It's pretty good, and I can definately relate to Riley.
