Apeirongender: a gender that is both agender and pangender simultaneously; experiencing all accessible genders in one’s culture and experience while being genderless at the same time. May or may not be apathetic towards their gender identity.

Etymology

Apeirongender appears to have been coined by LGBTA Wikia user atwistedpotato, 2020. The etymology is given by the coiner as so:

Apeiron (pronounced appear-on) is a Greek word meaning “(that which is) unlimited,” “boundless”, “infinite”, or “indefinite” from ἀ- a-, “without” and πεῖραρ peirar, “end, limit”, “boundary”, the Ionic Greek form of πέρας peras, “end, limit, boundary”.

Flag

The flag was uploaded at the same time as the page was created by the presumed coiner. The image from the Wikia is pretty low quality, so I replicated it in a higher quality for this post. The coiner states that the flag has the following meanings:

  • The light green stripes represents genderlessness/agenderness
  • The pale yellow stripe represents the connection to being non-binary, and/or gender non-conforming.
  • The blue represents a connection to masculinity.
  • The purple represents feelings of gender apathy.
  • The soft pink stripe represents a connection to femininity.

Conflictgender Pride Flag- made in response to @ask-pride-color-schemes ‘s post and @arco-pluris ‘s reblog.

The colours can be changed depending on the individual, but I went with greens for this. I have conflict with the colour green since I like it sometimes, but mostly it’s the colour I like the least so I used connotations from that. The colours may be changed so the ripped pattern in the middle is the main part.

@ask-pride-color-schemes ‘s definition of Conflictgender is :

Conflictgender: A gender that involves the conflict between two or more genders that you can’t place a name to as the genders fluctuate constantly and you may not always feel a certain gender on some days but it’s definitely there.

What does “void” mean in neagender?

neagender

So, in the description for the gender I coined, I said “ A gender that feels like the void itself,“, but I don’t think I ever properly explained what that could mean for people, so I thought I’d give some examples.

Things neagender can mean:

  • You have a xenogender that’s tied to both the void and some kind of other gender, whether it be alignment, or vague connection, or anything else
  • You’re very similar to agender or gendervoid, but your experience is different or more specific
  • You’re very similar to agender or gendervoid, but you just want to use this label instead, or use this label alongside the other two
  • Anything else you’re able to think of

When I say “void” in neagender, it describes more than just nothingness. It can also describe a void feeling, or it can describe some sort of aesthetic or thing (like many other xenogenders), or, for you personally, it can in fact just mean a lack of gender, or a distortion of gender.

Void can mean:

  • An actual void, like one in space
  • Space itself, or the deep ocean

  • Liminal spaces, like the backrooms

  • Genderless

  • Feeling somewhat like another gender, but distorted

  • Anything else you want it to mean

This by no means is going to describe what neagender is like for everyone, I just wanted to provide some examples! Because I know “void” is a pretty nebulous word, so i wanted to share why I made this instead of just using agender.

Insensiligender: An experience where comprehension of one’s gender identity is perceived by oneself to be inaccessible, making the gender functionally undetectable and unable to be evaluated, resulting in feelings of genderlessness; an Agender identity rooted in gender imperceptibility and subsequent unquantifiability.

Etymology

From Latin, “Insensilis” modified to “insensili” meaning “Imperceptible” + “-gender”, an English neologistic suffix indicating genderedness. Coined by Gent (Gender-Resource), 2020.

Flag

This flag is inspired by the Uingender flag and the most common Agender flag, representing the fact that Insensiligender is both AGIN and UIN. The flag consists of six, horizontal, solid colored stripes of the same size. From top to bottom, they are dusty rose, light sage green, olive green, grey, slate blue, dark blue-grey and black. Flag by Gent (Gender-Resource), 2020. Each stripe has the following meanings:

  • The dust rose stripe represents inaccessibility.

  • Light sage green represents imperceptibility.

  • The olive green stripe represents having an unexaminable gender.

  • The grey stripe represents paradoxical gender(lessness).

  • The dark blue-grey stripe represents unquantifiability.

  • The black stripe represents genderless feelings and experiences.

Alysgender: A void, fluid and indifferent genderlessness.

Etymology

The etymology of Alysgender is unclear. “Alys” is not a word, but a name; an alternate spelling of the relatively common name, “Alice”. This name has an origin in Old German, meaning “Noble” or “Exalted”, but this does not have a readily apparent relationship with the definition. It is unclear if this term has a proper etymology.

The only mention of this term can be found on the Gender Wiki. The assumed coiner is Gender Wiki user thegayesttransboy, whose username is attached to the first mention of the term online in 2019.

Flag

This flag design also appears to be created by user thegayesttransboy and was uploaded at the same time as the term was coined. This flag has no officially associated color meanings, as the creator of the wiki entry did not state the meaning. The original flag was very uneven, so I went ahead and recreated it so the stripes were the same size. This flag consists of six horizontal solid colored stripes. From top to bottom, they are cyan, black, royal azure, grey, chartreuse and yellow.

Aginique: An autonomous genderlessness. A gender that is simultaneously autonomous and Agender-In-Nature (AGIN).

Etymology

From English, “Agin”, an acronym meaning “Agender-In-Nature” which indicates some degree of genderlessness + the English neologistic suffix “-ique”, indicating autonomous gender. Coined by Gent (Gender-Resource) and user Arco-Pluris. Arco-Pluris also offers Agenique, Ageninique, Agingenique as alternative terms for Aginique.

Flag

This flag, and other flags in this gender family, have four horizontal, solid-colored stripes. The color pallet was derived from both the Maverique flag and the Agender flag. From top to bottom, the stripes are black, white, yellow and mint green. The colors mean the following:

  • The black stripe represents the absence of gender.
  • The white stripe represents gender autonomy.
  • The yellow stripe represents detachment from the binary as well as conventional conceptions of gender.

  • The mint green stripe represents being non-gendered.

Lackgender: Describing one’s complete or partial genderlessness while having a connection to a particular gender or genders.

Can be combined with relevant terms. For example, someone who can be described as Lackfeminine is genderless, but has a connection to femininity.

Etymology

From Middle English, “Lack”, meaning “to be without” + “-gender”, an English neologistic suffix indicating genderedness. Coined by user Lackgender in 2019.

Flag

Prior to this post, this term did not have a flag. As a result, I created one. The flag consists of five solid-colored horizontal stripes. From top to bottom, they are black, white, medium green, light green and light red. The first four stripes are derived from the Agender flag, which represents genderlessness collectively. The bottom red stripe represents a connection to a genderedness, as the color is the complementary to the green stripe, which represents the negation of gender (Color meanings of the Agender flag). Flag by Gent (Gender-Resource), 2020.

Subgender: A gender experience that encompasses some, but not all elements, of a given gender; being “below the threshold” for having a particular gender.

Etymology

From Latin, “Sub”, meaning “Under” or “Below” + “-gender”, an English neologistic suffix indicating genderedness. Originally coined by baaphomett in 2014. This post has been deleted and was written under a cut, and as a result, the coining of Subgender can only be viewed using an internet archive tool.  Because the term is practically inaccessible, it was not widely archived.

In 2016, user arochrismcclean unwittingly recoined Subgender to describe being mostly (75%+) Agender and “a bit” of another gender. This is (also) called  Minumegender. The pride flag for Minumegender can be found here. User arochirsmicclean is cited as the coiner of Subgender Minumegender by user pridearchive (X) (X) (X).

This post refers to the original usage of Subgender.

Flag

Prior to the creation of this post, a flag did not exist for the term Subgender. So, I went ahead and created one. This flag consists of seven solid-colored horizontal stripes. From top to bottom, they are violet, light berry pink, yellow, medium grey, pastel yellow, lilac and orchid purple. The top three stripes represent Midbinary, Autonomous and Abinary genders, respectively. The middle stripe represents the metaphorical threshold. The bottom three stripes mirror those on top, but are pastel, representing being under the threshold by reducing color intensity. Flag by Gent (Gender-Resource), 2020.

Axigirl: A fluid gender that is both Female and Agender, which includes no overlapping and a very short transition time. Also called Axisgirl.

Metaphorically, this gender can be described by an axis, with Agender on one end and Female on the other. The space between the two extremes is never encompassed by Axigender; solely the ends of the axis. The fluid nature of Axigender never onsets gradually. Change from Agender to Female is always rapid.

Etymology

From English “Axis” (borrowed from Latin), meaning “a fixed reference line for the measurement of coordinates“ + “Girl”, an English word meaning ”young woman”. Coined by an unknown person in 2016. Reblog of the coining post has not been located. Axigirl is a type of Axigender.

Flag

The original Axigirl flag was create by user asherwhy in 2016, with the coiner’s account being hacked at some point after. The original flag is divided diagonally from the upper right corner to the lower left corner. At the divide is a thin, grey stripe representing the metaphorical axis. The top portion of the flag is black, whereas the bottom portion is pink. This was changed due to it’s close resemblance to the flag that represents Queer Anarchism, which is entirely unrelated. The alternate flag consists of three solid-colored horizontal stripes. The color pallet is the same as the original flag. From top to bottom, the stripes are pink, grey and black. The blue represents femininity, grey represents the metaphorical axis and black represents genderlesssness. Alternate flag by Gent (Gender-Resource).
