I’d love to learn more about the science behind taking E, do you have any anecdotes or links to info? ❤️Thanks

Yeah! I have some cool sources here!

My personal Experience:

I have been on estrogen’s for a little over a year. Main changes include soft skin (seriously almost immediately my skin became softer and held moisture better), differences in fat distribution (breast growth/thighs have formed cellulite), and thicker hair. My shoe size has also oddly shrunk but that’s not totally normal so don’t count on it! I started when I was 15 and no matter what age you are, you will see physical changes with hrt.

More:

If you want to find out more about hrt there are some great discord servers and sub-reddits specifically about transgender health! I personally used reddit a lot during my journey of  finding out if i really wanted hrt and remember no matter what they may under go for transitioning, a trans person is still trans!

anyway this is your periodic reminder that self-medicating hrt is epic and you should do it

https://hrt.cafe/

But can’t that be REALLY dangerous??????

no

all the weirdos in the notes on this post  look extremely stupid trying to school a trans woman on the topic of hrt and  self-medicating with hormones considering the fact that once someone takes hormones   home  with them from a conventional pharmacy, they are the ones administering  it to themself anyway… hormones are hormones regardless of whether we get them at at pharmacy with a prescription from an endocrinologist or ordered it online. in the united states and other countries where hospital and health insurance systems make the acquisition of proper trans healthcare almost impossible, it is more dangerous not to tell people that medications like estradiol are available online without a prescription.

also estrogen  is not a controlled substance like testosterone is, stop reporting the op for posting a resource that will, no doubt, end up saving the lives and mental health of transfeminine people.

i never see enough tips for trans women/transfem people so. here’s a video that came up about tucking :] (don’t worry she doesn’t use tape at all despite the thumbnail)

[Transcript:]

“How to tuck! For trans male-to-female… or if you’re just really curious. First off, take that fancy-dancy duct tape, that electrical tape, that athletic tape… THROW that shit in the trash! It kinda works but for the most part it FRICKIN’ HURTS, you gotta shave all the time, and it’s very bad for your skin. Instead:
  • Go to Walmart, get yourself a pair of high-waisted tights and a pair of Dr. Scholl’s Travel Compression socks
  • Cut the waistband out of your tights, like so.
  • You’re gonna take your socks and cut to right about… here. Then you get this cool little cuff.
  • Feed waistband into said cuff
  • Step into each loop of the band and pull up. Your thingy should lay nicely in the cuff.
  • Pull up, put on a pair of cute panties, and some shorts.
And it’s like you never even had a penis!”

Just a tip for my trans sisters trying to make their developing bodies passable!

Please signal boost this! I feel its a very useful tip for any trans woman (especially one early in her transition like me) to ease gender dysphoria!!

5 Things people won’t tell you about transitioning (MTF)

iampoiesis:

1. The migraines will stop!!

My doctor didn’t tell me that I’d have migraines—that they were related to electrolytes and that I should increase them, specifically salt, and stay super hydrated—so she obviously didn’t tell me these burning, hot headaches would go away after a month (ice packs on your head help along with wearing sunglasses). I’m pretty sure my body was rewiring itself to use estrogen instead of testosterone ?? … or to operate with less liquid since the Spiro/T blocker is a diuretic

2. You will have a monthly cycle  …

My doctor told me that, as much as dudes like to complain about how chicks have their period, everyone has a cycle. As a girl though, it has all felt stronger. While it’s mostly nice, since I feel a lot more in tune with my body, some days I realize that, for no particular reason, I just am pissed and everything and everyone lol

3. You will forget what you look like

I often do double takes when I see my reflection in a mirror, since my body and my face is changing so fast. Some days I’m pleasantly surprised by how feminine my face is; other times I’m just frustrated by how far I am from what I want to be ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

4. Electrolysis is better than laser, but it takes forever!!!

Apparently laser is just hair reduction/not permanent. Electrolysis is permanent, but, each time they zap your hairs, only a very small portion of them are super vulnerable/in the growth phase/won’t grow back. So you are basically playing roulette until they are all deads (✖╭╮✖)

5. You’ll be zippy xD

I don’t know whether it’s the drugs or if it’s just the fact that I’m FINALLY allowing my body to be the right way, but most of the time I will jump around the house and say silly nonsensical things to my girlfriend. I don’t remember feeling this happy before transitioning.

Girl (2018)

There are many resources online about the dangers of binding for FTM guys, but far fewer that address the dangers of tucking.

This film, based on the youth of trans dancer Nora Monsecour and made in collaboration with her, features a young trans girl character tucking with tape in order to pass as a young woman. It is good to see that a film is drawing attention to MTF struggles, and the daily practice of flattening your groin, which can sometimes be very painful.

As an alternative to tape or bandages, I would recommend LeoLines underwear, available through Etsy. There are many reviews by trans women who recommend LeoLines panties and padded bras, and the underwear is so cleverly designed that many women report not even needing to tuck beneath the panties. (Also, as the designer of these products is a trans woman, all the marketing is aimed at trans women, and not crossdressers.)

>

Please do not flag this post. It is an educational post, intended for transgender girls who may watch this film and be encouraged to tuck unsafely. It is not explicit.

From the perspective of a trans woman whose closet friend is a trans man, I found this post to be extremely valuable information to have.

Very glad you found this post helpful, friend! I’m a transgender man myself, and I have noticed that many online resources are directed at FTM guys like me, whereas information about tucking for trans women is pretty rare to see shared on trans blogs. I can’t speak from experience, but I do want to put in the effort to support my trans sisters :)

nonbinary-dysphoria:

Reminder to male-at-birth genderfluid people:

Don’t bind with breast implants!!

Don’t bind with breast implants!!

Don’t bind with breast implants!!

Binders are made to compress the fatty tissue of the breast. Implants are made of silicone and cannot be compressed the same way. While uncommon, they are even known to rupture and pop, which could result in you losing not only your breasts but possibly even your life.

If you are a male-at-birth genderfluid person who has fluctuating chest dysphoria, please instead of implants consider:

-using breastforms

-using a push-up bra (this will be particularly helpful if you choose to start HRT, as you will start to build up breast tissue)

-If you happen to have the money and happen to get liposuction, it’s also not unheard of for people to have the fat “transferred” to their breasts. If you do this you will be able to bind because it will be the fatty tissue that binders are intented for rather than silicone.

As nonbinary people, our dysphoria is uncommon, and hardly ever talked about. Safety issues like these hardly ever come up for binary trans people, so we need to make knowledge like this more widespread to keep our fellow nonbinary people safe. Share to spread the word save a gendefluid person considering binding their implants.

Fun facts for non trans women about tucking and why you shouldn’t demand it from us

This guide is for cis people and trans men and nonbinary people who don’t need to tuck

  • It will very easily cause us slight harm
  • It will very easily cause us great pain
  • It will very easily cause us permanent painful damage
  • It will probably make us infertile
  • It is extremely painful for many, for many it isn’t, but despite the pain we have to do it to be accepted
  • Around 40% of us can’t do it because our inguinal canals are tiny like they’re supposed to be, like medically if we do this we will 100% be permanently harmed
  • Why are you looking at our crotches
  • Just cause heppie tytoos or whatever your new fave drag queen is can do it, doesnt mean every amab can, the drag queen is also probably in pain
  • Fuck off, we don’t owe you anything

I haven’t done it so far, no one’s pointed it out, except Tumblr users who will “,just check in to see if I’m tuckin okay? I just wanna help you pass!”

You know what tucking (of the variant that involves shoving your balls back into your abdomen) can do?

Increase chances of an inguinal hernia.

Know what that is?

You lower intestine protrudes down into your scrotum. If they get tangled up, you could DIE.

I am not dying due to twisted entrails in my CROTCH because you can’t keep your eyes on my FACE.

I post a lot about binding and how it’s never completely 100% safe, but with all the tutorials I’ve reblogged on tucking, I’ve yet to see safety concerns like this, and while I fully support your decision if you are someone who needs to bind or tuck, I also believe you deserve to be aware of any possible health risks and make informed decisions.

ive been very vocal for years about hating that tucking is expected and often considered mandatory for trans women but likewise this is the first time ive ever seen anyone discuss the dangers beyind vague mentions of inguinal hernias with no elaboration to what they are. generally the most ive seen besides that about pain or health risks involved is ppl claiming that ‘if you do it right it wont hurt’. which is maybe true for some women but not true for most. even if it doesnt hurt its still dangerous. another problem that isnt addressed above is that since its often time consuming to tuck and elaborate methods are sometimes used to get a perfectly flat look (ive known girls who just flat out taped everything in place before they went out in the morning and left it taped up til that night, 8 to 10 hrs later), a lot of women will avoid going to the bathroom until they get home at night to avoid undoing the tuck. this leads to either holding it in and doing damage to their kidneys and such long term, or not drinking anything to avoid needing to pee, which is also obviously dangerous especially when done regularly long term.

all in all its incredibly risky and more often than not does damage, and it shouldn’t be necessary! we shouldnt have to compromise our health to survive and stay safe.

side note! as someone who cant tuck cuz its way too painful, ive found that wearing skirts and dresses is a good solution. generally i wear panties with a pair of stretchy briefs over the top, which smooth things out gently. then either a skirt or if i must wear pants tight stretchy jeans. if you have a bulge it wont be visible under the skirt even if you get a boner bc of the two pairs of underwear, and otherwise the tight stretchy jeans will squash things a bit so that your crotch looks flat. your mileage may vary of course but gentler solutions are always better and can work just as well!

also: hrt will stop you from getting unprovoked erections which makes things a lot easier. and bloodflow to your dick will decrease somewhat too, so that your size while flaccid after about 6 months to a year on hrt will be a fair bit smaller. so the methods above become even more effective!

if you still want or feel you need to tuck please be responsible and dont do it if it hurts, and make sure you do it in a way that you dont have to worry about using the bathroom. its not worth hurting yourself. please be safe.

Reblogging again for the addition of new information. Again, your mental health is a part of your health, and if you’re someone who needs to tuck, that is perfectly okay, but it’s still important that you keep informed about any possible health risks.
