A New Term: Bxyflux

(A few notes before I start: a lot of credit for this goes to @xeno-aligned for answering my anon ask and introducing me to the term bxy!! Also idk if this even counts as coining a new term bc I just added a suffix but I searched it up on tumblr and google and got absolutely 0 results. I don’t even know how to coin terms lmao. Lastly tell me if you think this term describes you!! I’d love to hear from people)

What does bxyflux mean?

This term combines the root word “bxy” and the suffix “-flux”

Bxy: A gender that is both boy and agender/no gender. You can be a boy and agender/no gender at the same time, go between them, or fluctuate between feeling male and not feeling gender

-flux: in terms of gender, it means fluctuating in intensity

Therefore bxyflux is a gender that is both male and agender and fluctuates in intensity. Pretty simple right?

There are a whole lot of ways this could be applied, so I’ll use myself as an example. I personally feel completely male and also partially agender, but the agender part varies in intensity (the male part may also vary in intensity but I’m not sure). Someone else who uses the term bxyflux could go between being male and agender (not either at the same time) while also having the intensity of both or one those genders fluctuate in intensity.

Is there a flag?

Yes! I made this one I think looks pretty cool but give me any criticism you can think of!!

image

(id: flag with 5 horizontal stripes, which from the top down are dark grey, blue, white, green, and dark grey)

The blue represents male, the green represents agender, and the black and white represent the varying intensities of the genders.

I think that’s it!! There can be gxrlflux too, but I don’t have a flag for that unfortunately. Thanks for reading 💕

ok I got rlly inspired by @momma-mogai-sphinx and @acro-pluris (can’t tag you for some reason :/) both of whom made voidfeminine versions of my voidmasculine flag/term (original on the right) so I wanted to make my own and as a bonus a voidnonbinary version!

voidmasc/fem/nb: Identifying with masculinity/femininity/the nonbinary label but being unsure what exactly your gender identity is, it is a great and dark mystery long forgotten in your eldrich mind. The only thing in this existence that understands your puzzling feelings is the Void.

and as a bonus bonus here’s some voidgender solidarity ones!

I’ve coined a new term: Noxvir. It means anyone who is male or male-aligned, partially or wholly, with a gender that can be compared to the darkness and overall feeling of nighttime.

This is a type of xenovir identity, which is any male or male-aligned xenogender.

Librafemale/Librawoman: a gender that is mostly agender, but has a connection to femaleness/womanhood.

[Image ID: A flag with seven horizontal stripes. Flag stripe colors from top to bottom: black, dark gray, white, blue, white, dark gray, black. End ID.]

Libramale/Libraman: a gender that is mostly agender, but has a connection to maleness/manhood.

So, the original definitions of librafeminine and libramasculine included both a connection to femininity/masculinity and womanhood/manhood. Since femininity is not synonymous with being female and masculinity with being male, I’m proposing the original definitions be split: librafeminine and libramasculine retain the connection to femininity/masculinity part, while these new terms take on the womanhood/manhood part.

This way, libragender folks who feel their genders are just fem/masc and not connected to being a woman/man won’t have to specify how they use the terms and it’ll be more clear for folks who do identify in some way with being a woman/man where their connection lies. It also won’t impose femininity/masculinity on librawomen/girls and libramen/boys who may not necessarily use those words to describe their gender.

The colors are inspired by the demiman and demiwoman flags. Apologies for using blue = male. Other colors I tried looked too close to existing libragender flags.

I was inspired by these posts by @positivelygenderqueerguy to make a little comic about why some people might identify as genderqueer guys! Done with markers on index cards so the color is a little off :o

Image description:

An image showing twelve figures speaking. First is a person with a greenish shirt with an ace pin and bi pin, brown hair, and tan skin. They are saying, “I’m a masc aligned nonbinary person!”

After them is a dark-skinned person with wide shoulders wearing a yellow tank top with a purple star. They have dark hair, a beard, and several piercings. They are saying, “I’m bigender, and my two genders are nb and male.”

The third person has purple hair in a bun, purple lipstick, and tan skin, and is wearing a purple tank top over a mesh shirt. They are saying, “I’m multigender, and being masculine is the most important part of me.”

Next is a person with brown skin and cropped black hair and a beard, wearing a turquoise shirt, saying, “I’m genderfluid, and my gender is often male or male-aligned.”

Below them is a young looking person with brown skin, dark brown spiky hair, glasses, and a pink shirt. They have a turqouise-colored cochlear implant. They are saying, “I’m boyflux—when my gender is at its strongest, I’m male or masculine!”

After them is a person with sunglasses, orange hair, and a pearl necklace, making finger guns and saying, “I’m agender, but if I had to pick a gender, I’d be a guy.”

Next is a person with blond hair and dark sin, wearing an earring and a green collared shirt, and saying, “Being perceived and raised as female affects my identity as a trans man.”

Below them is a person with a dark curly bob cut and pink cardigan and shirt. They are gesturing with their hand as they say, “I’m nb, but I feel connected to manhood because I was raised and seen as male.”

Under them is a person with dark skin, a green scarf, and hair in the style of “poodlepuffs”. They are saying, “I’m neurodivergent, and that makes my connection to masculinity more genderqueer than binary.”

Next is a person wearring a beige hoodie with a pan pin and mlm pin. They are saying, “I only feel like a man through my love of men—if I weren’t mlm I wouldn’t be male.”

Under them is a dark skinned person with black hair in a bun, wearing a blue t-shirt. They are saying, “I’m butch, and I prefer the word “guy” over “man” in reference to myself.”

The last person has curly green hair and a yellow shirt, and brown skin. They are saying, “I consider myself cis, but I don’t feel 100% boy all the time.

At the bottom is an drawing of all the people standing together, smiling, arms around each other. Several are using mobility aids or prosthetic limbs. The text above them reads in all caps, “We’re genderqueer guys!”

End image description.

Voidmasc | Voidmasculine (/openmasc, queermasc) ;

Identifying with masculinity but being unsure what exactly your gender identity is, it is a great and dark mystery long forgotten in your eldrich mind. The only thing in this existence that understands your puzzling feelings is the Void.

You thank them and the Void smiles back.

I’ve never been quite able to put my specific identity into words, it’s always just been something along the lines of a masculine gender but never feeling, like, fully male? Ya know? So I wanted to make a pride flag for my own little weird feeling.

It’s specifically for me but others are free to use it as well! But pls if you use my flag/term just credit me thanks!

The colours don’t have that much of a like explanable meaning? They just mean something to me, personally. I guess the blues and greys are like fading and intersecting into each other like my gender identity kinda dances along the lines of male and not quite.

((Pssst I updated my links and now you can see all my (original) flags in one place!))

pey: person+boy, a masculine nonbinary alternative to “boy”.

perl: person+girl, a feminine nonbinary alternative to “girl”.

PSA: I have created my own gender label.

I call it Amplexic, and I define it as: “A gender identity that embraces one’s feminine and masculine traits or qualities, but isn’t defined by them. A version of nonbinary identity.” I guess you could call it a branch off of genderqueer, but I feel that this label has more of a personal, accepting vibe rather than an apathy towards gender. You could say that it isn’t so much a definition of oneself, but an acceptance of one’s quirks and feelings.

The term comes from the latin word amplexum meaning “to embrace” for the accepting nature of this identity, and because I have been told I give good hugs.

The flag looks like this:

image

With the colors meaning: Light pink stripe for alignment to femininity, light yellow stripe for nonbinary identity, light blue stripe for alignment to masculinity, and the dexter beige chevron for unity and peace. The whole flag is pastel themed for the peaceful interaction between gender alignments and its acceptance of all gender feelings.

I don’t really associate any particular pronouns with this identity, though I use they/them.

Anyone is free to use this label and its flag! Let this be a sort of internet high those those who want to use it!

Love ~ ❤

GENDER COINING: Femqueer and Mascqueer

Femqueer: A feminine gender defined by inherent queerness. A femqueer’s gender is influenced by internal sense of gender, external gender presentation, and queer experience all rolled into one. They may or may not describe their gender as “woman,” as the label may feel too broad, or not exactly synonymous to their experience.

Mascqueer: A masculine gender defined by inherent queerness. A mascqueer’s gender is influenced by internal sense of gender, external gender presentation, and queer experience all rolled into one. They may or may not describe their gender as “man,” as the label may feel too broad, or not exactly synonymous to their experience.

USAGE: Femqueer and mascqueer are nouns, not adjectives. You would say “A mascqueer,” not, “A mascqueer person.”

FLAG MEANINGS:

Purple - representative of queerness

White - Expansive gender and gender expression

Pink - femininity / Blue - Masculinity

The stripes above are all vertical and of equal size, symbolizing the equal importance of all parts of the gender.

Yellow - nonbinary gender

The yellow stripe stretches across the other three colors, symbolizing the nonbinary nature of all the facets of a fem/mascqueer’s gender.
