one more person lumping headmates in with cringe/kin tumblr is all it will take for me to fucking snap

janemorris

headmates is a colloquial phrasing for the medical term alters, which is what the distinct/dissociated states of self present in DID/OSDD-1a/b are called. please for the love of god stop putting dissociative disorders in with kin tumblr and/or painting them as fake tumblr disorders. it makes it even harder for us ppl who have them to get acceptance

janemorris

hi reblog this

threefools-inatrenchcoat

Yes hello I have DID and I support this message, please do not mix up Fictives (alters who are introjects* from fictional sources) or Factives (alters who are introjects* from non fictional sources like for example celebrities) with otherkin stuff. They're completely different in many ways and I suggest you do research if you don't understand how.

*Introjects are basically alters based on and/or from an outside source

threefools-inatrenchcoat

!! Also!! Aside from introjects there are alters who can be Nonhuman! For example alters can be animals, fantasy creatures, and objects! This also does not in any way relate them to otherkin!

If you do not have DID, OSDD, or are a trained professional then you shouldn't speak on these issues! It causes misinformation to spread and less people take us seriously. Many people with DID and OSDD are victimized and discriminated against because people receive so much wrong information in the media (Like from movies, if you remember the shit show that is Split)

Try and educate yourself if you'd like to contribute your opinions to the conversation! Stigmatized disorders such as DID need to be spoken about so people with the disorder can be heard and understood.

hes trying to come back on youtube so i just want to say. everyone look out for nick robinson. hes an ex polygon employee who was fired for sexually harassing his coworkers. hes trying to blend in with the documentary style video trend.

i got him in my reccomendations just now. his handle on most websites is babylonian

valtharr

Slight correction: He wasn't sexually harassing his co-workers, he was sexually harassing fans. Underage fans.

wingdingle

youre absolutely right, i regret leaving that out, the exact situation slipped my mind because i haven't read up on it since it all went down

eternal-dannation

it was both underaged fans as well as women in his industry or trying to break in that had less clout than him. he’s a scumbag in a multitude of ways

myrebloggingblog

Nick Robinson(Babylonian) is a serial abuser who was fired for sexually harassing his coworkers and under age fans.

Before being fired Nick held a lot of influence in the video game community at the time through Polygon. Along with using that power of his platforms reach as an ‘in’ for finding his victims he also used that platform against victims in the industry as more than just a vague threat to stop them from rejecting his predatory advances- the reason this behavior was eventually outed was due to the fact that he had given a scathing public review against a video game in beta and the creator bravely came out to ask if he’d have given them a better review if they’d sent him the nudes like he’d asked. He’d been harassing them and their coworker friend. Because they rejected his gross advances he then took it out on their game- their livelihood.

Games live and die on their press. A bad review from a beloved popular personality reviewer can kill a project. Months upon years of hard work from a wide creative team can be rendered moot as sales tank because fans trust the reviewer. Nick sexually harassed these women in the gaming industry and then used his platform to try and sabotage their careers in the game industry. A particularly heinous example of quid pro quo sexual harassment given that women in the gaming industry famously experience a less than hospitable workplace environment already.

Polygon did a stand up job in their handling of the situation- immediately putting a freeze on everything to conduct a thorough investigation and deplatforming Nick. He was very quickly fired from his position there. The entire ordeal hurt Nick’s coworkers who had been betrayed, Nick’s fans who’d trusted him, the integrity of video game journalism, and of course all of the people that Nick had abused and harassed.

Don’t let Nick regain a platform again. Nick can not be trusted with it. Second chances aren’t for people who’ve repeatedly shown time and time again that they will abuse them. He’s a very charming man and has had a lot of enjoyable content. I don’t doubt that his new content will probably appeal to many new viewers but he can’t be given that sort of power as a popular content creator again.

It’s now a felony in Alabama to give trans kids under 20 hrt or affirmative surgery

Teachers and medical professionals will also be required to out trans kids to their parents

Trans kids on hrt and their parents should get out of Alabama as soon as they can, and if you’re a trans kid in that state and you’re not out to your parents, don’t let any teachers or doctors find out

mullroy

As of March 5th, the bill is not law yet. It has been passed by the Alabama Senate, but it has not been approved by the governor. The article isn’t super clear on how close the House bill is to the Senate bill, either, so the bill may also be delayed while they reach a compromise.

It probably will become law–I don’t particularly trust Kay Ivey, and it could pass with a revote even if she does veto it–but crucially, it isn’t law yet.

Anyone under 20 who is on puberty blockers or HRT and can’t leave Alabama should look into switching their care to an out-of-state facility as soon as possible. EDIT: Trans in the South (link) has a directory of different options for trans-affirming healthcare in southern states. From my understanding, the bill does not make it illegal to possess puberty blockers or HRT that was prescribed out-of-state.

update:

so i called a few places for help. so far no legal representation wants to help me and has basically told me that because my disability is invisible its pointless. they advised me to try and find a job again even though i am bedridden.

and have been for about two months.

anyways trump is a cunt and gutted the system for people like me. if i want any hope, i have to go to speak to a rheumatologist. if its not covered by insurance, its going to be expensive.

even if it isnt expensive, im not exactly doing great over here! i had to stop attending college so i dont get disbursements anymore, and i physically CANNOT work!

please please please consider helping me so i can make it through this and reapply when the rheumatologist confirms my diagnosis? im trying to move to a place thats more accessible right now, so money is tight.

thank you so much to everyone whose donated already so far, it means the world to me!!!! i love you, thank you.

boost if you can.

[id: the video is divided into 16 squares. in each one, an LGBT person is doing something such as reading, preparing food, playing with their pets, washing dishes. it is overlaid with an audio of the Turkish president's recent speech saying "LGBT? No such thing exists. This country is national, spiritual". when he says "no such thing exists", people disappear from the frame, leaving only the background]

video by the Istanbul pride committee, @/istanbulpride on instagram and twitter

dreaming-insomniac

!!! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

Right now students and teachers are being arrested left and right. These people are protesting how the President of Turkey nominated Melih Bulu (someone who previously served in the ruling party and has no ties to this university) as the rector for Bogazici University, a private university.

Bogazici University is known for having a left-leaning progressive student body and the government is trying to assert control over the students by putting his own men in there. Bulu as a rector has already taken steps such as banning the school's LGBT+ Studies Club.

They are now branding these protestor, these students as "terrorists". The government is especially now targeting LGBT+ people, saying that we don't exist. The police are very much openly targeting and assaulting people who are or support LGBT+ people.

MORE PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE RIGHT NOW!

miseksuel

thx for the addition omg i was upset ppl were rbing the komikli video and not the actual info posts bc i foolishly posted them separately...

In many cultures, ethnic groups, and nations around the world, hair is considered a source of power and prestige. African people brought these traditions and beliefs to the Americas and passed them down through the generations.

In my mother’s family (Black Americans from rural South Carolina) the women don’t cut their hair off unless absolutely necessary (i.e damage or routine trimming). Long hair is considered a symbol of beauty and power; my mother often told me that our hair holds our strength and power. Though my mother’s family has been American born for several generations, it is fascinating to see the beliefs and traditions of our African ancestors passed down. We are emotionally and spiritually attached to our hair, cutting it only with the knowledge that we are starting completely clean and removing stagnant energy.

Couple this with the forced removal and covering of our hair from the times of slavery and onward, and you can see why so many Black women and men alike take such pride and care in their natural hair and love to adorn our heads with wigs, weaves, braids, twists, accessories, and sharp designs.

Hair is not just hair in African diaspora cultures, and this is why the appropriation and stigma surrounding our hair is so harmful.
