gliffecterve: a gender related to unnerving special effects and glitches

for anon! the term itself is a combination of ‘glitch’, ‘effect’, and ‘unnerve’, and the flag uses colors that remind me of creepy glitches and effects!

flag id: a flag with 6 stripes. in order, they are dark red, orange, off-white, grey-purple, very dark teal, and black. about ¼ of the way away from the right side of the flag, a small section of the flag is ‘glitched’ downwards. the glitched section has 8 stripes, with the first and eighth being half the size of the others. in order, they are black, dark red, orange, off-white, grey-purple, very dark teal, and black. end id.

“Untitled Game” by JODI (1996)

(CW: Flashing / Eye Strain)

JODI made this piece by modding Quake I and removing all visual elements except for the moiré patterns. The game audio remains the same creating a visceral, surreal, and generally unpleasant experience.
