hetalia is violently antisemitic and racist

if you like hetalia in 2021 im going to assume that you are a white supremacist hands down

image

some of the people commenting on this don’t remember people cosplaying nazis in front of the holocaust museum and it shows

the anti-korean ideologies written into hetalia and aot also must be brought to western attention; i know the west is largely not educated about eastern history, but the writers of these franchises are outright japanese nationalists making light of or supporting japanese supremacy or japanese colonization of korea, which japan routinely ignores and refuses to pay reparations to korea for japan’s period of colonizing and enslavement. lack of education is no longer an excuse when korean and jewish people continually try to educate and hold you and the franchise responsible for antisemitism and nationalism, you’ve just surrounded yourself with a community that will not just make excuses for right wing propaganda, but build a fandom off it and sway impressionable teenagers

Politics is actually like…one of the top reasons to cut someone out of your life? Where the fuck did we get this idea it’s an invalid reason to abandon people? It’s literally your statement on how you think society should exist and what rights you think people should have and how. It ain’t fucking “My uncle Craig’s dead to me because he takes his sandwiches with the crust on” it’s “My uncle Craig has consistently stated a hatred of minorities and poor people for longer than I’ve been alive, of course I’m gonna call him a piece of shit”

Fash’s mad at this post. Angry that people might hate you if they know your thoughts on society, eh?

Others have said it better and more eloquently, but the LGBT community has a massive fear and disgust of masculinity it needs to reckon with in order to be whole. Bears, transmascs, masculine enbies, AMAB enbies, butch lesbians, masc intersex folk, drag kings, and those who find themselves in some fluid space between them or are masc in ways I’ve left out - they all need support from the LGBT community, they all have the same traumas from being queer, and all of them  that I’ve met have some horror story about hitting the ‘must be this femme to ride’ bar.

You can be gnc and masculine. This needs to be embraced.

Masculine people are not the enemy. The community needs to be as ready to embrace its brothers as it is its sisters. We are all queer.

As much as I would just like to talk about the MET Gala tonight, if you haven’t heard by now, it has been leaked that the Supreme Court has decided to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision protecting the right to get an abortion in the United States. Make no mistake about it: this decision is the direct result of not just the last presidency, of Republicans doing everything in their power to sow violence against women and minorities, but took decades of groundwork that is the direct result of the patriarchy and white Christian Nationalism. This decision will overwhelmingly hurt women, women of color, POC, LGBTQ+ people, Indigenous women, the impoverished, and countless others. It will hurt us. It will kill us.

I don’t know what to do tonight besides be angry, but I want to try to be productive here. What I can recommend is this:

  • Vote for Democrats in your primary and midterm elections this year. There is no other option. Republicans are literally trying to kill us. They are trying to send us back. We will not let them. Vote blue up and down the ballot this year and every year so we might have a chance at codifying abortion rights and other important issues pertaining to labor, climate, voting rights, etc. I am not asking kindly, and I am not going to make it complicated: vote blue, vote blue, vote blue. Do your research on the Democratic candidates for your primaries, but when November comes, VOTE BLUE. EVERY TIME. FOR EVERY OFFICE.
  • Bug the hell out of your representatives, no matter what their party. Annoy the living crap out of them and let them know that you are pissed about this and expect to see legislation. That the court needs to be expanded. That Thomas needs to be impeached for his and his wife’s involvement in the insurrection. Demand to know what they will do about this. At this point, it’s worth a shot.
  • Please, if you have the means to do so, consider donating to Planned Parenthood and their action fund, the ACLU, the National Abortion Federation, and NARAL, and any grassroots pro-choice fund you can find. Here is an article from The Cut with a list of abortion funds you can donate to right now state by state. Please feel free to add others to this post so others can see them and help out if they can.

This is scary and sad and infuriating. We saw it coming for years but it still feels like a shock. But we cannot let up. We cannot quit. That is exactly what they want, for us to roll over and give up. I get feeling helpless - I feel it right now, too - but there are a few things we can do. But I also get if right now we just need to feel scared and upset. I’m just hoping to turn this righteous anger into something productive.

all of this, but also

Roe v. Wade has not actually been overturned yet

a draft of a yet unvoted-on Supreme Court decision that would overturn it was leaked. it is horrifying, infuriating, and scary. but it is not yet a done deal. and apparently, the person who leaked it did so for exactly this purpose: so people would fight like hell to stop that from happening, in any way possible

I feel like that’s important to know

For uterus havers - now is a great time to get an IUD or other installed form of birth control (please PLEASE be cautious with the stick BC - Nexplanon, obviously consult your doctor about any change in BC).

You can also stock up on plan B - available for pretty cheap on Amazon.

And folks without uteri please remember this is your fight too - particularly if you are a sperm-producing person. Stock up on condoms and USE THEM.

When engaging in activities that could be reproductive, have frank conversations with your partners first. And do not engage with people who do not want to be safe and preventative.

And you know, if you want to engage in Lysistrata ‘22, I’m all for it.

the best thing that we can do right now to fight for abortion rights is donating to your local abortion fund, especially in states with “trigger laws” or laws that will immediately take harsh measures to shut down abortion rights as soon as roe is overturned. If you don’t know your local abortion fund or states with trigger laws, here’s one in Texas, one in Louisiana, one in Georgia, one in West Virginia and one in Mississippi (all states with such “trigger laws”). There’s so many more beyond the handful i just listed here but times like these are the time to donate and support the incredible work that these organizations do for their communities.

sorry, better version of this post: here is the national abortion fund archive where you can find your local abortion fund and here’s an article from the cut about abortion funds explaining which states are trigger law states and the specific regulations around abortion they have (also links abortion funds themselves at the bottom)

I know travel isn’t feasible for one reason or another for a lot of people but with what’s happening in the Supreme Court I want to make sure people know that access to abortion is a RIGHT in Colorado

Anyway pointing out how overturning roe will disproportionately affect people of color especially black people does not hurt the cause of feminism or class consciousness or whatever. It is fine & normal & necessary actually to point out how abortion access is often determined by your zip code or your income or your health insurance & how these issues intersect with systemic racism. Use your brains please

The next time they tell you Americans are “happy” with their employer provided health insurance remember that that “happiness” is fueled by willful ignorance of what the alternatives are really like and fear of losing what little crappy health care they currently have.

Honestly, nevermind the low price, if seeing doctors was this logistically easy I’d have way better health. With adhd/anxiety/depression, seeing doctors is usually just too complicated and takes too much energy to deal with.
