Did you know it’s still 100% legal to pay workers with disabilities less than minimum wage? 🙂

Did you know that disabled people fought for ages to get accessible accommodations for work, school, medical care? Did you know we were told it was IMPOSSIBLE to work from home, IMPOSSIBLE to attend school from home, IMPOSSIBLE to have telecom doctor appointments? ...

...Did you know these were all sorted and made available within a month of abled people needing them after the onset the pandemic? Did you know now that states are opening back up, these accessibility accommodations are being revoked for many? 🙂

Did you know the ADA was established in 1990, and most people don’t know what it says? Did you know building accessibility is key, and new public buildings are STILL being built inaccessible? Did you know it can take years to get an ADA hearing, and they’re often dismissed? 🙂

Did you know police officers receive minimal (if any) training on recognizing and interacting with disabled people? Did you know it’s been reported that almost HALF of the people who die at the hands of police have a disability? 🙂

Did you know disabled people with COVID are dying because they’re being denied care to save resources? A disabled man in Texas was denied care (and FOOD) in hospital for SIX. DAYS. Doc told his wife that, since he was disabled, he didn’t have a quality of life WORTH saving...

Happy Disability Pride Month.

This is kinda popping off, so here’s your AGGRESSIVE reminder that disabled activism NEEDS to be INTERSECTIONAL!

Racism, sexism, xenophobia, transphobia, homophobia are RAMPANT in healthcare, and we need to be aware of the LAYERS of oppression individual disabled people face!

Seeking medical care is already difficult and exhausting.

Nobody should have to worry that just EXISTING HOW THEY ARE AS A HUMAN BEING is going to affect their access to or quality of care!!

I (an atheist) once had a very disturbing conversation with a former friend who was a devout Christian, of a sect that believed strongly in personal revelation from God.

He said straight out that if God decided it was OK to commit murder, he would be fine with murdering anyone he wanted to.

I said, so, God could give you a revelation that it was OK to commit murder, then? And you'd just...go with that. That murder was now OK?

He said yes, and then inquired what stopped me from murdering people, since I didn't believe in God.

He did not understand why I wasn't a murderer. He accepted that I wasn't, but did not grasp why, and my explanation (that I think human life is valuable, and I try not to do things to other human beings that they do not like, and that I assume other humans generally do not enjoy being murdered) was unsatisfactory to him.

But I have to tell you, the realization that his attitude towards murder could and would radically change if he had a "revelation from God"? That was really disturbing and frightening. Like the man had no self-developed sense of morality at all, nothing that didn't rely on extrinsic motivation. That was so fucked up that it forever changed my relationship with him.

That's why genuinely afraid of people who think you need religion to be good. Like, why aren't you just inherently good? I don't want to lie, or manipulate, or hurt people, or steal, or, duh, murder anyone. It's very disturbing that most people need religion to keep them from doing bad things... Guess what? If you need to be threatened with eternal damnation to not act like an asshole, you're still an asshole.

Okay seriously... 🥺😭 this is amazing. Its hard to discribe what reading with severe dyslexia is like. But in a word, it sucks.

The appreciation I have for this skin is just...I can't. I wish I had found this sooner! No two people with dyslexia are exactly the same but if you have it, trying this skin is so worth while.

it’s funny because yes, you CAN disable right click save, but it takes like an extra two seconds to get around it because of how images are displayed on websites. (technically you could also just screenshot but this gets you a real jpg)

for example, instagram has disabled right click save. here I am trying to save a picture of this girl with a pumpkin sweater, but I am thwarted by the lack of right click save!

to get around it, right click and go to “inspect” or “inspect element” (it’s called different things depending on what computer you’re using)

shimmy around the webpage code until you find the “src” bit. It will helpfully tell you when you’ve found it because the image, and only the image, will light up as if you selected it.
