In December 2019, our member Kevan Thakrar was stabbed in prison by a known racist while prison officers watched. Racism is routinely used by prison staff to divide and discipline prisoners, often resulting in physical violence.

🎂🎂🎂 Support Taz as she spends another birthday behind bars after being given an indefinite sentence at age 15. All money will go towards the food, toiletries, phone credit, clothes (etc.) that she needs to make life more bearable:

The way that compassionate release from HMPs works is every bit as violent as a knee on the neck. Truly disgusting.

Today is 9 years since the Metropolitan Police shot and killed Mark Duggan. Since then 357 people have died either in custody or following contact with British police. 72 (21%) of those deaths have been at the hands of the Metropolitan Police.

Glad to see covering this issue. You can use our template letter to write to the Ministry of Justice ahead of this weekend's heatwave and let them know these conditions are unacceptable:

We're pleased to have supported this important litigation. Vital that prison visits are urgently resumed. It cannot be that children continue to be seperated from their parents for an indefinite period of time. Power to all of the families involved. 💥💥💥

Sometimes we get messages from people wondering what they can do to organise for prison abolition. The prison industrial complex is everywhere - you can challenge it in every institution you find it in.

Can you imagine 23 hr bang up in a cell in 30 degree heat? No air con, windows that barely open, maybe a pad mate, maybe 2, no fresh air....that’s what about 80,000 endured today...most still haven’t seen their families for 4 months...just so awful.

Those caring for younger children are concerned that they will not remember their imprisoned parent. Their ability to bond with their parent has been completely taken away.
