Oh my god you don’t understand, this is my favorite thing. Space Judaism? The best and worst thing to ever happen to our people.
What if Alien Jagthar wants to convert to Judaism after spending months aboard a spaceship working alongside his Jewish colleagues? Can aliens convert to Judaism if they wish? (here is an amazing short story by William Tenn (Aka Philip Klass) about aliens and Jews interacting in space)
It’s hard enough explaining Jewish customs to human goyim, can you imagine attempting to do so to alien goyim?
“Excuse me Human Yitzchak, are you quite certain this is meant for human consumption? You seem to be producing copious amounts of liquid and noise upon ingesting it.”
“It’s called maror, Jagthar.”
Also aliens have no idea how to handle two Jews getting into an intense argument over the minutiae of the spaceship rule book that nearly ends in a fistfight?? And slowly the rest of the Jewish crew gets involved and they’re all shouting over each other?? And then just abruptly going out to eat together and still being friends????
My favorite aspect of Jews in Space is Chabad arriving on foreign planets and setting up houses there and interacting with the local alien populations. And you know how sometimes multiple cultures will have similar customs, despite being in completely different areas? I want Space Rabbis arguing with Alien Leaders over the discovery that *GASP* both the inhabitants of the Planet Jupiter and Orthodox Jews from Earth have the tradition of wearing square garments with fringes on the ends, or discovering that HEY why do Martians have a hut-building holiday with rituals involving plants?
Just.
Space Judaism, y’all.

First of all, I LOVE this ask. Thank you for making me think about this.
I love the idea of all Jews being holy when they do mitzvot. It kind of implies that there is something innately about it that not only affects our spiritual status, but also our physical one as well, if it means that we would be protected from vampires because of it.
I also wonder if there are different levels of holiness here. Like if a vampire touches someone who isn’t a murderer but has stolen things, are they burned? Maybe only little bit? Maybe enough that it could be endured to bite them? Because obviously no one is perfect, we’ve all done things we weren’t supposed to. Does this lessen our immunity to vampires?
Also can we talk about what a vampire would think about this? A young unassuming vampire attempting to get close to a Jewish person and being totally thrown off? And going to another, older vampire and explaining what happened and they just shake their head and go “you have much to learn… those people are Jews… none of us can touch them…”
Are Jews impervious to vampires??
(and don’t even get me started on Jewish vampires)

(Sorry it took me so long to get to this!)
HAH I love it lol that would be hilarious. It’s like the Jewish people have a tiny drop of Felix Felicis, inherently in our blood or something. People keep trying to kill us, and they keep failing spectacularly. You’d think they’d have learned by now.
I can imagine alien races being terrified to mess with Jews, because stories have gone around about how hard we are to kill, which gets exaggerated into whispered tales of immortality.
jewish wlw : you are wonderful and you are beautiful and i love you so much , you are strong and no one can tell you otherwise.

wizarding holidays headcanons
-chanukah: presents that wrap themselves, dreidels that complain if you don’t spin them well enough, candles that never drip
-purim: polyjuice potions as costumes, floating fountains of giggle water, special siddurim for animagi who want to come to services in their animal guises. lightning and thunder drowning out haman’s name
-pesach: ACCIO HAMETZ, INSCENDIO. haggadot with moving pictures. instead of finding the matzah you have to catch the matzah. it’s slightly sentient and knows all the good hiding spots
-sukkah: wizarding sukkot that are made of living trees, which bear a different sort of fruit each night. a magical shield around the sukkah to keep rain from getting in when you want to do the mitzvah of sleeping outside but the weather is terrible
-shabbos: so many halachic discussions about which spells you’re allowed to use on the sabbath. so many.
Powerful Yom Kippur post from the JQY Facebook.
The JQY do a lot of amazing work bringing LGBTQ+ awareness into Jewish spaces, as well as provide great resources for Jewish Queer Youth (hence the name).
They really are an amazing organization. I’d suggest any Jewish people struggling with their sexuality or identity, or who feel unwelcome in Jewish spaces, check them out at their website. I’ve made many friends through events of theirs and I think everyone should have the opportunity to be out and proud with people who know what they’re going through, even if being totally out isn’t always an option for everyone yet, like me.
Got bored and decorated the back of my sneakers like the good jewish bisexual girl that I am
