Ty Segall. Yeah!

If you are a complete turd, I would understand if you didn't recognize this name. Fine. I get it... there are folks on Earth who are so out of the loop that they'd recognize some random blogosphere rapper before knowing about Rock N' Roll.

Disappointed? Hell yeah, but it don't stop the mission.

If I could sum up Ty Segall in ten words:

Remember what Jack White did for you a while back?

Sure, he ain't got the same swagger... White was blues and Segall is surf, but shit... the snarl is there in a big way and since nobody has even come close to floating the S.S. Dirty Carl in a bit, Ty does it masterfully.

Do yourself a favor... after hearing this, go out and PURCHASE everything he's made. Jack is listening undoubtedly.

WEIRD MISPLACED TIP: Listen to more Belle and Sebastian. It's good for the mind, body, and soul.

Jack White doing Jack White whether we approve or not.

"Blunderbuss"
I had my dream
I held your hand
On that broad avenue
We crossed the road
And never spoke
To another as we flew
We left your man
Alone in drag
Laughing there at us
A romantic bust
A blunder turned
Explosive blunderbuss

An ancient grand hotel of Persian thread and ivory
And when your man would turn his head I’d see you look at me
Pools of brown and sea of red
And demons in your pocket
That same romance
Performed a dance
Inside your silver locket

Da da da da
Da da da da

A corner exit not tall enough
To walk out standing straight
Designed by men so ladies
Would have to lean back in their gait
You grabbed my arm and left with me
But you were not allowed to
You took me to a public place
To quietly blend into
Such a trick pretending not to be
Doing what you want to do
But seems like everybody does this
Every waking moment

I laid you down and touched you
Like the two of us both needed
Safe to say that others might not
Approve of this and pleaded
“So selfish them” would be their cry
And who’d be brave to argue?
Doin' what you people need
Is never on the menu

White Stripes Breakup Video LOL

This shit is strictly for the fans, but it's kinda funny.

And as a pretty good bonus... Eric Burden and The Animals: I know this song has been played to death, but there is very good reason for it, don't you agree?

So fuckin' lame...

Really?

This sucks. This is what the old Jack White would've had nightmares about.

Shit, if you can make it through the whole video and leave a comment, man... I'd like to hear about it, because this sucks so bad that I couldn't imagine someone else listening to it the whole way through without having been promised something.

The White Stripes: Under Great White Northern Lights - Review.

Rating: 4 out of 5 peppermint candies.

So, tonight I watched the new White Stripes movie, Under Great White Northern Lights, and all I can say is that I was left feeling a little cold and unfulfilled. That isn't to say that it's a bad film by any means. In fact, it's just the opposite. In 92 minutes director Emmet Malloy manages to capture tons of beautiful scenery and dozens of candid moments between the supposed siblings that once shared a house as husband and wife. For the uninitiated this may be a bit too ramshackle and for the die hard fan it may make you feel as though you've waiting too long for too little. (I really did enjoy it... promise.)

White Stripes Universal Buzz Studios 9/21/2000

Click here if you think you can dance

I've seen these guys live a bunch of times and the feeling I got from all the shows was one of awesomeness. I wasn't in attendance for this one though. Aw shucks! Anyway, this show is pretty good except for some clicks and pops from the vinyl, but I'm sure you'll get past that pretty quickly.

Enjoy The White Stripes Live at Universal Buzz Studios in Rochester, NY

PS. I wish I could remember where I got this record because I'd seriously travel back in time and beat the piss out of whoever sold it to me and said it was "mint". Bitch.

The White Stripes and Conan O' Brien

The final Late Night with Conan O' Brien just ended about three seconds ago. I pretty much dislike all late night shows because I'm uncaring as to what celebrities are up to or what movie they're promoting, but Conan was different. Over the past sixteen or so years that crazy ass red haired man has brought a lot of laughter into our homes. I'm sad to see him go, but equally happy to see that he's just getting a new time slot.

Okay, now that I got the mushy parts out of the way...

What the hell was up with Jack and Meg? Is she pregnant? I can't believe I'm actually going to type this, but...

I was really underwhelmed.

With so much anticipation I waited to see the mighty White Stripes unleash some new material or at least perform a rollicking version of the world's greatest song Let's shake hands...

Sadly they did a less than spirited version of I can tell that we are going to be friends that, in all honesty, left me scratching my head. It was almost as painful as hearing Joss Stone's godawful version of Fell in Love with a girl or the acoustic version of said song that Jack played in Japan a few years back where it seemed he was covering the Joss Stone version himself. Aye...

It's been said that Conan asked them to play what they did and their performance was sad and chock full of emotion...I didn't see that while I lay on the floor like an excited child in front of the TV. I still want them to release another record.

Seeing them standing side by side was nice. More please.

The Go. Howl on the haunted beat you ride

http://sharebee.com/52dca2d5
Click here to bite Chis Brown.

I was never crazy about this band and although I got this record when it was released, it didn't get any real rotation at my pad. I guess it was because when this came out I was in that kind of mode where you only want to listen to loud, frantic rock and roll with a beer in one hand and a breast in the other. Tonight however, I'm feeling a little mellower and in my left hand I hold only a rum and coke. I failed to mention my right hand because it's empty. How sad is that? No breast?

Anyway, this record is actually really good for those times when you need a little of that AM radio type of rock. You know the kind...the kind that makes you want to be witty and play pool as opposed to the stuff that makes you want to smash bottles and fight some guy in the restroom because you thought he was trying to sneak a look at your pecker.

If I was even the remotest bit confusing here, it's a good, mellow rock and roll record for doing whatever it is you do when you're not fucking and fighting. To boil it down even further I'd like for you to picture The Monkees...with fuzz. To really peel the skin off, this record is 60's radio hour all the way. Sometimes you'll shake your head, but most of the time you'll feel the vibes like you were cruising down some ocean highway with a little sexy vixen in the passenger seat. This also works if you're a lesbian. I just want you to feel loved or at least get yours, you know?

Sure, Jack White isn't the mysterious rock and roll bad ass he once was, but you're a prick liar if you tell me you didn't think he was the cat's meow a few years back before he went and released Meg's sex tape...just kidding. I mean, before his new wife stabbed Meg...me kidding again. Hey, where's Meg? Megan? Hellooooooo? Megbot?

Anyway, this live show was rad and the vinyl version is next to impossible to get if you're not rolling in dough and coincidentally are registered with eBay.

It's a long show so I had to break it up into two separate files. Don't bitch about it. Just rock!

Thank you Detroit...

Here's a pretty cool record from the Hentchmen. It features a young Jack White lending his abilities to a few songs. It's not breaking any ground, but after this whole "Quantum of Solace" thing, I need my memories. Please enjoy Hentch forth Five.

Jack White and Alicia Keys...

...got together and made an overproduced song that will be fawned over by millions. To me however, this is the duet that made me swoon.

Separated at birth? Jack White & Gavin Degraw

Gavin De Graw & Jack White look a lot alike. While I'm not a fan of DeGraw's music, I won't take away from the fact that he is a talented musician who basically OWNS the piano when he plays it.

Jack White, who the Robot household is a huge fan of, pretty much OWNS whatever instrument he grabs.
I was watching the worst late night talk show ever the other night (Carson Daly) ans happened to catch DeGraw's performance. I know, I must live under a rock because this guy is Billboard top ten all the way...On second thought, Carson Daly isn't the worst show. It's actually getting better these days. It just feels rushed.

LIVE at Icky Thump Records!

This particular recording isn't the highest quality, but it's free and being a complainer might get you a fat lip.

My wife and I were the winners of a local radio contest which allowed us to attend this history making show from the White Stripes. I'm not a math guy, but I heard there were only about 250 people there. It was tight, sweaty, smelly, and really wet.

Anyway, this recording was ripped from the stream. Enjoy it.

Now here, take this...

Soledad Brothers

The Soledad Brothers are best known for their association with everyone's favorite red and white wearing guitar virtuoso, Jack White. I'm sure they don't mind.

This show is from Vera Groningen, Netherlands 11/14/2002.
The sound quality is cool.

An awesome show featuring an early version of "Now Mary"

*There's no Mr. Williams this time. Instead you get Dan John Miller of Blanche and a young, but immensely talented Jackie White. This show was recorded at the legendary "Gold Dollar" in Detroit Michigan. Sadly this place doesn't exist anymore...
Many thanks to the original recorder!

The White Stripes - REDD blood cells

http://sharebee.com/c8251e27
Click here to kick it old school.

The following comes from here:
In the summer of 2002, Steven came up with the idea to do an art experiment by adding bass tracks to 2 White Stripes songs and sharing them with Redd Kross fans via the internet. The overwhelmingly positive response inspired him to cover the entire "White Blood Cells" record. Word spread quickly over the internet and soon press such as Entertainment Weekly, Pitchfork Media, the NY Times, BB Gun to name but a few ran articles about "Redd Blood Cells."
Enjoy the goodness!

The White Stripes tribute to immigration

Today is "Icky Thump in my opinion" day.

I heard the album Icky Thump at 4:30 in the morning and here is my opinion...

Thank God for 30 second Youtube clips because by the time the cd got to the song "I'm slowly turning into you" I felt this wave of mystery and figured that I have just heard ear massaging music from the future.
Upon first listen I am feeling so many things...
My first impression is how noticeable it is that Jack has abandoned the dirty sound of their first three albums.
There are times where you can spot a trace of the rawness...

"Little Cream Soda" was running around the backyard of the "Handsprings" 7" and that was refreshing White Stripes territory.

I wonder if Jack is still smoking? His voice is sounding nice and high again.
I can't figure out why Meg lives in Los Angeles? I saw her at Target and she seemed happy. I also saw Marcy Von Bondie lookin' trashed, leaning up against a payphone, but that's a differrent post altogether.

"Catch Hell Blues" is good. Period.

"Effect and Cause" is terrific. It sounds like what will be referred to twenty years from now as part of the "White Stripes country phase" Meg's drumming is perfectly timed and compliments the lo-fi backyard feel.

I like the album, but the high point of the listen was "CONQUEST"
(I put that in caps because this song is epic.)

I wish they'd release a 7" on red vinyl with a reworked version of "Broken Boy Soldier" and this song...

The White Stripes meet the Yardbirds

This is a pretty rare show from way back in September of 2002.
Jack and Meg teaming with Jeff Beck to cover early Yardbirds tunes.

Enjoy!
