You can open and make basic edits to photos you've saved on your Pixelbook.
When you use the Google Photos app, your photos are safely backed up and accessible anywhere, on any device. You can edit your photos, share them with others, and quickly search your entire photo library.
See your photos and videos
View photos in the image editor
- Sign in to your device.
- In laptop mode: Select the Launcher Up Arrow Files
In tablet mode: Go to your Home screen. To get there, tap the Launcher in the bottom corner of the screen. Then select Files - Select Downloads.
- Find the photo you want. Double-click or tap the photo to open.
From the image editor, you can:
- See your photos as large thumbnails: Select Thumbnail view
- Scroll through your photos one at a time: Click or tap on the right or left side of the photo (you'll see arrows appear) to scroll forward or back.
- See your photos in a slideshow: Select Slideshow
- Print a photo: Open the photo and select Print
- Delete a photo: Open the photo and select Delete
Note: Any file in the "Downloads" folder could get deleted if your device runs out of space, so make sure to save the photos or videos you want to keep in a permanent folder. To learn how to keep your downloaded files from being deleted, see Related articles.
View photos in the Camera app
- Sign in to your device.
- In laptop mode: Select the Launcher Up Arrow Camera
In tablet mode: Go to your Home screen. To get there, tap the Launcher in the bottom corner of the screen. Then select Camera - In the bottom corner of the Camera app screen, select Gallery
View photos in Google Photos
If you use the Google Photos app, your photos and videos will also be available in the Google Photos app under "Device folders."
- Sign in to your device.
- In laptop mode: Select the Launcher Up Arrow Google Photos
In tablet mode: Go to your Home screen. To get there, tap the Launcher in the bottom corner of the screen. Then tap Google Photos - Select Menu Device Folders Download.
- Find the photo you want and select to open.

Edit your photos
You can make basic edits to your photos in the image editor on your device or in the Google Photos app.
Edit photos with the image editor
- Sign in to your device.
- In laptop mode: Select the Launcher Up Arrow Files
In tablet mode: Go to your Home screen. To get there, tap the Launcher in the bottom corner of the screen. Then select Files - Select Downloads.
- Find the photo you want. Double-click or tap the photo to open.
- Select Edit
Here are the edits you can make in image editor:
- Rename a photo: In the upper left corner, select the filename. Save the new name by pressing Enter on your keyboard or tapping anywhere outside the name field.
- Automatically adjust brightness and contrast: Select Auto-fix
- Adjust brightness and contrast yourself: Select Brightness
- Crop your photo to a different size: Select Crop
- Resize your photo: Select Resize
- Rotate your photo: Select either Rotate left or Rotate right
- Undo or redo changes you've made to your photo: Select Undo or Redo
Edit photos with Google Photos
With the Google Photos app, you can add filters, crop photos, and more.
You can go to Google Photos directly or when viewing a photo in the Camera app on your device:
- In laptop mode: Select the Launcher Up Arrow Camera
In tablet mode: Go to your Home screen. To get there, tap the Launcher in the bottom corner of the screen. Then select Camera - In the bottom corner of the Camera app screen, select Gallery
- Find and select the photo you want to edit.
- At the bottom of the photo, select Edit . (If you haven't already, you'll be asked to install the Google Photos app here). This will take you to Google Photos where you can edit the photo.
To do more advanced photo editing, you can use an app like Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, VSCO, or Pixlr.
