The women of Egypt are showing all of us we need bigger and bigger demonstrations against the inhumanity of our rulers and their armed thugs. We need a revolution to win the liberation of women and all humanity.

As the European crisis worsens, perhaps engulfing France next, the temptation for the ruling class to reach for solutions outside the democratic norm will become greater.

Whether they do or not depends on a range of factors, including the depth of the crisis and the strength of our side. We should be preparing now to defend democracy. Every union struggle, every demonstration against the problems capitalism creates, every occupation deserves our support and helps build our strength.

Next time, to beat the cops back, we need thousands upon thousands of protesters. Partly that will happen when the economic crisis arrives in Australia. But partly it is the task of socialists to point out the need to build an organisation of the working class to take on the one percent and free the rest of us from our economic slavery.

It is and will be a hard road. But we are in this for the long haul. Join us in the fight for a world where all are equal and we share democratically in the wealth we as workers create.

The reality is that police forces around the world help perpetuate the greatest crime possible: maintaining the murderous system of capitalism.

The movement has already had a transformative effect on those involved. If it can continue and grow, it will definitely have an impact far greater than any small square of land that we are able to hold.

The real reason we Occupy Melbourne protestors were attacked is for committing the crime of standing up for the voiceless, for demanding real change, and challenging the ruling 1% in this society.

Today over 1000 Melbournians bravely defended the right to protest when the police shut down ‘Occupy Melbourne’. Tomorrow we want the mother of all marches! 12pm at Fed Square. Let’s show the 1% that our support goes deeper than they can imagine! We are the 99%.
