President Donald Trump’s former National Security Advisor is urging him to launch a pre-emptive military attack on Iran.

Ambassador John Bolton called for a strike one day after Trump tweeted approvingly about the assassination of Iranian scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh near Tehran.

Bolton, a neoconservative who is known as a war hawk, accused Iran seeking nuclear weapons for terrorism. However, former CIA Director John Brennan says the assassination itself was “state-sponsored terrorism.”

“Iran’s terrorist regime is seeking nuclear weapons for terrorist purposes. Faced with such a threat, a pre-emptive strike is fully justified,” Bolton posted on Twitter.

Scientific drama continues over life on Venus

Published

In September, news about the possibility of floating, cloud-based life on Venus caused a storm in the science world as tumultuous as the sulfur clouds that rain acid down on the second planet from the Sun.

This article first appeared on Salon.

Researchers saw phosphine's signal in spectrograms from two radio telescopes they used to capture the data, and estimated there were 20 parts per billion of the compound in Venus' clouds.

McDaniel was appealing to voters to return to the polls on January 5 and cast their ballots for incumbent Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler. If Democrats defeat those candidates in Georgia, the party will control the House, Senate and White House at the onset of President-elect Joe Biden's presidency.

President Donald Trump has paid $3 million for a partial recount of Wisconsin that expanded President-elect Joe Biden's lead by 87 votes.

On Sunday, Dane County became the final Wisconsin county to complete its recount. According to The Washington Post, over 800,000 ballots were recounted at the request of the Trump campaign.

"As a result of the recount, Biden’s lead over Trump in Wisconsin grew by 87 votes," the report said. "Under Wisconsin law, Trump was required to foot the bill for the partial recount — meaning his campaign paid $3 million only to see Biden’s lead expand."
