To help users better understand specific types of content, add URLs and labels for the news sections of your site that contain opinion, satire, user generated, press release, or blog content. Learn more about what each label means. Content labels are used as suggestions to highlight and sometimes label specific types of content to users.
How to set up content labels
- Open the Publisher Center.
- Select your publication and click Edit.
- In the navigation menu, click Content.
- Navigate to the "Content labels" section.
- Click +Add.
Important: To add content labels, you need to verify your website property first. - Add the URL for the news sections of your site.
- Select the labels that best describe your content. For example, http://www.example.com/opinion would be labeled as "Opinion."
Important: Any new content label added in the Publisher Center must have an associated label. Some publishers may see content labels without any labels in their publication; these were ported over from the previous version of the Publisher Center. They can be edited or deleted as described below.
Edit a content label
- Open the Publisher Center.
- Select your publication and click Edit.
- In the navigation menu, click Content.
- Navigate to the "Content labels" section.
- To the right of the content label you want to edit, click Edit.
- Update the section labels or URL for your content label. For example, add an "Opinion" label to this section: http://www.example.com/opinion.
- Click Save.
Delete a content label
- Open the Publisher Center.
- Select your publication and click Edit.
- In the navigation menu, click Content.
- Navigate to the "Content labels" section.
- Select the content label you want to delete.
- Click X.
The content label will now be marked as "Deleted" in the content tab.
Restore a content label
If you accidentally delete a content label, you can restore it within one week. Follow the steps below:
- Open the Publisher Center.
- Select your web publication.
- In the navigation menu, click Content.
- Navigate to the "Content labels" section.
- Click the check box next to the content label you would like to restore.
- At the top, click Restore deleted content label.
After one week, you won't be able to restore the content label. To reinstate your content, add the content label again.
