CryptoParty is a decentralized movement with events happening all over the world. The goal is to pass on knowledge about protecting yourself in the digital space. This can include encrypted communication, preventing being tracked while browsing the web, and general security advice regarding computers and smartphones. This worldwide effort introduces the basis of cryptography both in theory and practice, such as encrypted communication, prevention of espionage when navigating on the internet, anonymity on Tor network, cryptography with the public key, storage encryption, Virtual Private Networks (VPN) etc. The project consists of a series of workshops free and open to everyone. 

Open Labs, as a community which for many years has been increasing awareness on the topic of Online Privacy in the local level, organizes CryptoParty Tirana for the third year in a row. This movement was brought in Albania thanks to the initiative, goodwill and support of a dear friend of our community, Arjen Kamphuis, author of the book Information Security for Journalists, who three years ago initiated CryptoParty Tirana and together we could accomplish a very successful edition and take ahead our mission on increasing awareness on the risks of online surveillance, and increasing skills on the tools which help us be more secure online. With a great sadness on the loss of a very dear friend, today we continue our mission guided from the values that Arjen left behind. 

With the support of our friends Ritger Teunissen and Jos Weyers, both members of Hack42, our partner community based on Arnhem, the Netherlands, Open Labs is bringing CryptoParty Tirana 2019. We continue to be part of this global movement with the sole goal of informing the general public on the risks of the digital world, the importance of online privacy and increasing their practical skills to protect their privacy online. 

Activists, (investigative) journalists and every citizen interested to gain infosec skills, are invited to join this event on 9th of November 2019. The training will start with an introduction of potential risks and why it is important to gain infosec skills, to continue after with the practical part with various sessions on which you can learn on different kind of tools, which will help you communicate on a more secure way in the digital world.
