Amazon, Ring, and the New Policing (USA)

Sunday, December 15th, 2019

From It’s Going Down:

Report from insurrectionary anarchist publication Anathema on the growth of networks of surveillance being developed by Amazon and local police departments.

In November, The Intercept reported that internal documents at Ring, the home security company owned by Amazon, reveal that the company is planning to create automated neighborhood “watch lists” by incorporating facial recognition technology into its increasingly vast network of “smart home” doorbell cameras. The feature would alert camera-owners via smartphone when someone deemed “suspicious” pops up on their cameras. Like the old-fashioned “neighborhood watch” that Ring wants to replace, the feature would extend the power of the police and as well as make certain areas of town more dangerous for anyone Ring camera owners deem “suspicious.”

Ring’s documents do not define what “suspicious” means. In practice, this will likely be defined by gentrifiers and cops, whose systemic racism is well documented. At its core, the watch list would identify people who “don’t belong” in certain areas; this means black and brown people, poor people, and anyone whose appearance deviates from social norms. Ring’s Neighbors program — an online discussion forum between camera owners — is already well known for its aggressive racism and for generally heightening distrust and paranoia within neighborhoods. For many people, Ring’s new feature would make it dangerous to be in certain neighborhoods at all — a victory for the forces of gentrification everywhere.

Ring doorbell cameras have already allowed police to significantly expand their operations, simply by appropriating private citizens’ technology for no additional expense. The technology therefore has immense “value,” not only for the company, but for the state. For decades it’s been steadily expanding policing in order to keep its increasingly immiserated people under control, while struggling to balance its own budgets. (more…)

EN/ES – International Call For New Year’s Eve Noise Demonstrations

Thursday, December 12th, 2019

From ABC NYC:

This is a call for a raucous night of strong solidarity with those imprisoned by the state on one of the noisiest nights of the year. On New Year’s Eve gather your crew, collective, community, organization, or just yourself and come together to raise a racket and remind those on the inside that they are not alone.

Internationally, noise demonstrations outside of prisons are a way to remember those who are held captive by the state and a way to show solidarity with imprisoned comrades and loved ones. We come together to break the loneliness and isolation. (more…)

Philadelphia, USA: Technophobic queers sabotage GoPuff company vehicles

Sunday, December 1st, 2019

In a nod of complicity to recent[1] attacks[2] by queers, we slashed all the tires of three GoPuff company vehicles using an awl.

GoPuff* solidifies an all encompassing reliance on technology by extending the digitalization of everyday life, isolating us from each other and our environment.

Another queer in the night

USA: A Message from Eric King – Imprisoned anarchist comrade

Tuesday, November 5th, 2019

ES | ESTADOS UNIDOS: UN MENSAJE DE ERIC KING – COMPAÑERO ANARQUISTA ENCARCELADO

October 8th, 2019

Here are the things I hear most:

What are you doing, we heard this, I don’t think so, we’ll see, maybe, Chow!, Count!, who’s mess is this, who’s shaking the bars, lights out, mail call, rec call, you want a shower, clean this mess, nope not today, not happening, I’ll check on it, put in a cop-out request, doubt it, quit trashing my tier, cuff up…

Sometimes I spend hours pondering revenge fantasies, most time I think of my wife and kiddos. Fourteen months in segregation minus 4 days at Grady County, plus 6 at McCreary. We haven’t been in the same room since August 11th, 2018. Now these bastards drag me back to Colorado to force more time, and have the audacity to block our family visits, due to a bad check from 15 years ago. Maybe people who read this will be disgusted by this news.

That said, I’m hurting friends. Being attacked sucks. Being charged with new federal charges for that attack is sickening. Never forget how horrible these people are. This system exists from the top to the bottom which is why reform is such a joke. You don’t reform cancer, you destroy it. We must destroy this system.

Until all are free,

RIP Tom Manning & Willem, never forgotten

Communique for Greek Embassy Attack in NYC (USA)

Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019

On September 2nd, we attacked the Greek embassy in New York City, smashing the front window and tagging the entrance with a circle-A.

This action was in solidarity with the anarchists and refugees in Exarcheia, where the fascist Greek state has begun evicting squats and sending immigrants to concentration camps. So far, at least four squats have been evicted and 143 people arrested by the pigs, brutally ripping people from their homes under orders from the extreme right-wing New Democracy party.

Let’s not forget it is the American imperialist pigs, along with the British and French colonizers, that have brutally exploited and occupied parts of the Middle East and Africa, carving away borders with blood and making way for puppet regimes and despots forcing millions to flee their homes. Letter from imprisoned anarchist comrade Keith ‘Malik’ Washington (USA)

Monday, September 2nd, 2019

Comrade Malik Speaks! This Also Means That I Am an AntiFascist! Expect Us!

Revolutionary Greetings Comrades!

By now the word has gotten out that I’ve left the New Afrikan Black Panther Party-prison chapter and embraced Anarchism. This is a tough time but as J. Cole raps in his song “Middle Child,” he says: “Everything Grows, its destined to change!” I have changed!

I am still holding on to my belief in Eco-Socialism. Plain and simple, climate change is real and not a hoax. Think many of ya’ll who have felt these unusually hot temps recently can attest that something is most certainly going on and I can guarantee you that these imperialist multi-national corporations that deal in fossil fuels have no interest in saving our beautiful planet or ensuring that the humyn species is able to survive– they just don’t care so we have to make them care! But that is not why I am communicating with you today! (more…)

Imprisoned anarchist comrade Eric King facing up to 20 more years in jail after beating by guard (USA)

Sunday, September 1st, 2019

For folks who are unaware Eric is an anarchist and anti-fascist prisoner who was sentenced to 10 years for an attempted arson, an action in solidarity with the Ferguson uprising in Kansas city. Throwing two Molotov cocktails into a state representatives office at night time. He has since remained outspoken against the prison system. Exposing abuses and standing tall in the face of constant attacks and oppression.

In august of last year Eric was dragged into a broom closet and attacked by Lt Wilcox at FCI Florence. Attacked because he is an anarchist and anti-fascist. It was timed to line up with the surgery for his wifes cancer. He was subsequently tortured and abused and never checked out medically despite being kicked in the head for 5 plus minutes. And tied to a 4 point restraint for 8 hours, having to urinate himself resulting in nerve damage to his wrists. (more…)

USA: Final Message from Anarchist Antifascist Fighter Will Van Spronsen, Killed in Combat on 13.07.19

Monday, July 15th, 2019

Here is the final message the anarchist fighter Will Van Spronsen left for his comrades before carrying out an armed attack against the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, Washington on July 13th, 2019.

there’s wrong and there’s right.
it’s time to take action against the forces of evil.

evil says one life is worth less than another.
evil says the flow of commerce is our purpose here.
evil says concentration camps for folks deemed lesser are necessary.
the handmaid of evil says the concentration camps should be more humane.
beware the centrist.

San Francisco: Anarchists attack Indonesian consulate with Paint-bombs against May Day repression (USA)

Monday, June 3rd, 2019

SAN FRANCISCO, EE.UU.: ANARQUISTAS ATACAN EL CONSULADO DE INDONESIA CON BOMBAS DE PINTURA CONTRA LA REPRESIÓN DEL PRIMERO DE MAYO

On June 1, a modest mob of 20+ anarchists in San Francisco carried out an attack in solidarity with our comrades in so-called Indonesia where 600+ anarchists were arrested this May Day. We threw 60 paintbombs and heavily tagged the Indonesian Consulate with circle-(A)s to send a message to the Indonesian government that despite the distance between us and our comrades, the State is not safe and will always be attacked.

The actions of the Indonesian comrades, simple gestures of paint on walls, resonated with us. In the afterimages of their act, and in their call for solidarity, we recognized friends across the dying ocean. Even more than expressing our contempt for the Indonesian State, we want to convey our love to the comrades struggling within and against its false borders. Ferocity and Strength to those facing repression and those on the run. (more…)
