i saw a few versions of this on tw*tter but it bears repeating. john mulaney is never going to see your shitty little takes and “jokes” about addiction and rehab. but your friends who are struggling with addiction and substance abuse and trying to overcome the stigma around going to rehab and seeking help will. especially now when the increase in addiction that occurs during the holidays is compounded with the pandemic. i wish john all the best. i’m so proud of him and everyone else struggling right now. it’s so hard to ask for help. don’t be an asshole.

john mulaney has checked into rehab. here’s what we are going to do:

• support him

• wish him well

• respect his privacy

here’s what we are NOT going to do

• make jokes because addiction is not funny

• speculate anything about his marriage or personal life

• attack those in his personal life (*ahem, leave anna alone. don’t go asking pete davidson for details. none of that)

addiction is a serious disease, and while this news may be troubling, i am so proud of him for seeking help. you can too.

this has been said before but I feel like it is very important to view being kind as something you do rather than something that you are because all people have the capacity for meanness and cruelty and often use it inadvertently but the point is to change your behavior and your attitude and practice paying attention and being selfless and sincere and vulnerable and putting kindness and warmth into your actions and words instead of being like oh I value kindness and thus I am such a good person. like it’s about the attempt

mcdonalds to their workers: remember we can replace you with robots and it would be just as efficient so do not to beg for more scraps.

mcdonalds three seconds later: ice cream machine broken, sorry.

zerocapitalism

the reason they’re always “broken” is mcdonalds ice cream machines take 4 hours to clean, mcdonalds has repeatedly said they would replace the machines with ones that are easier to clean, and yet they still haven’t years after the proclamation

basically what i’m saying is, how can they replace their employees with efficient machines when they can’t even replace their machines with efficient machines.

cronagorgonzola

Those old ice cream machines are nasty af btw, corporate’s refusal to replace their old busted-ass machinery is a danger to the workers and consumers. The one at the McDonald’s I worked at had an internal leak so the inside was just full of old rotten milk that smelled like death, but even after my manager opened it up and cleaned it out upper management wouldn’t even think about replacing it cause they didn’t seem to see a problem. Because apparently exposing your workers and customers to rotten food isn’t a problem as long as no one sees it.

Anyway even if the ice cream machine is working probably don’t get the ice cream.

Also, the McRib is shit, we have them sit in the tub of sauce after it’s cooked until it’s ordered, then we reheat them really quick, make the McRib and hand it to you.

Please don’t order it, every one of my coworkers fucking hates the McRibs; we hate making them, we hate even looking at the order of one on the screen, and yes, if you’ve ordered one, we will dis you the moment you take your bag and leave

UK Covid News

Hi folks, this only applies to people in the UK for those not super aware.

A new apparent strain of covid has been found in the south of England. The government was apparently aware as far back as September but they have only just went public with it.

By doing so, lots of countries are shutting all access to the UK. This will no doubt impact international travel of people but possibly also goods.

If you rely on certain medication it might be worth getting in touch with your doctor. It also might be an idea of getting a stock of preserved and tinned goods because we don’t have any sort of time frame.

I’m not meaning to incite any panic but it’s worth being sensibly prepared.
