You can record and play back audio, make calls, and video conference through your Android phone or tablet with a supported audio accessory and connector.
Note: USB host mode works on all Pixel and Nexus devices using Android 5.0 and up, except Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 (2012). It doesn't work with car docks.
What you'll need to use USB host mode
- OTG connector
Use a USB On the Go (OTG) connector to connect your audio accessory to your phone or tablet. - Supported audio accessory
Android host mode for audio works with most USB audio class-compliant (driverless) accessories. For example, headsets, microphones, and dongles. - Power
Make sure that your USB audio accessory has power. You could need a powered USB hub for your accessory, so that your battery doesn't lose charge as fast.
Use your audio accessory with USB host mode
- With your OTG connector, plug your USB audio accessory into your Pixel or Nexus device.
- Follow the accessory's instructions.
- Control the accessory through your Pixel or Nexus device.
