Ellie Malin is a print media artist based in Melbourne. Her colourful bold art works reflect a playful approach to image making where bright colours and form construct the landscape.
Her artworks and patterns are inspired by a love for travel, childhood memories, and also from the most meaningful to the insignificant moments in life, in all their beauty. Influenced by photography, architecture and popular culture, Ellie began to create her own works where she experiments with colour, texture and form. Travelling between continents enthused her appreciation for art and design being acutely aware of the differences between cities with their distinct cultural diversities, architecture (new versus the old) and natural geographic surroundings.
These themes have continued to influence Ellie’s art practice, where images are constructed through an exploration of shape, colour and form.
Modern Times respectfully acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which we gather, share and celebrate local creative practice. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, and acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as the first people of Australia. They have never ceded sovereignty, and remain strong in their enduring connection to land and culture.
