The length of time between seasons of Adult Swim’s “Rick and Morty” has been something of a running joke among fans. It was, for example, nearly two and a half years between Season 3 and Season 4, which finished its run in May this year. As we wait for a whole lot more to come from Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, whose beloved series has many episodes remaining as part of a package deal with Cartoon Network, they’re also here to reassure fans that it’s coming soon.

As reported by Syfy Wire out of a PaleyFest virtual conversation, Harmon said that despite Covid’s impact on the industry and digital workflow Season 5 is fully on schedule and has actually benefited from production setbacks.

An “Assassin’s Creed” live-action series is currently in development at Netflix, Variety has learned.

The series is part of a deal between Netflix and video game company Ubisoft to develop content based on the best-selling video game franchise. The deal will include live-action, animated, and anime series. The search is currently on for a showrunner for the first series, with Ubisoft Film & Television’s Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik set to serve as executive producers.

“For more than 10 years, millions of fans around the world have helped shape the ‘Assassin’s Creed’ brand into an iconic franchise,” said Altman, head of Ubisoft Film & Television – Los Angeles.

Sesame Workshop’s Board of Trustees elected Steve Youngwood to take over as CEO of the nonprofit educational organization starting on January 1, 2021. He will replace Jeffrey D. AMC Networks-backed streamer Acorn TV has snapped up North American rights to Mira Nair’s acclaimed period drama “A Suitable Boy.”

Alex Gibney is setting his sights on serial killers in “Crazy, Not Insane,” the latest documentary from the high-profile filmmaker.

Per HBO, the documentary profiles Dorothy Otnow Lewis, a veteran psychiatrist who has studied various infamous murderers. Her research includes videotaped death row interviews and examines the formative experiences and neurological dysfunction of such infamous murderers as Arthur Shawcross and Ted Bundy. Her work challenges the very notion of evil, proposing that murderers are made, not born.

The film also explores the death penalty itself, highlighting research that indicates states with the death penalty tend to have higher murder rates than those without, questioning the theory of the death penalty as a deterrent to violence. The film asks an important question: Once dangerous killers are locked away and the public is protected, why is society so determined to execute these human beings?

Wayne Kramer of the legendary 1960s band the MC5 has filed suit in a California court against a political action committee behind the No. on Prop 23 campaign, contending that a commercial widely broadcast in the weeks running up to the election used vintage footage and appropriated his likeness without permission.
