Invitation for a Critical Whiteness Weekend in Hambach Forest

We want to come together and learn about the History of racism/colonialism, daily racism but also our very own internalised racism. Therefore we invite you to live, learn and reflect on ourselves together in the Hambach Forest from 2.10. to 4.10.
The weekend will be for free but if you are able to donate something we would appreciate it. Arrival day is planned to be 1.10.

It is important for us to clarify that every person that was involved in the planning is white. We are not free from racism. We do not know what it means to be affected by racism. We understand ourselves as learning participants of the weekend. And we wish that every white attendee shares this awereness. We want to open a room so that we can reflect on our thinking and acting.

The plan is to camp the whole weekend together in one space in the forest. After having breakfast together we want to fill the days with some workshops and rounds for reflection. While doing so we want to make sure to have enough time for getting to know each other and building networks. Everyone can participate. If you have plans for a cool workshop you want to do please write us a mail.
In the evening we want to cook and eat together. If you have some food at home that would otherwise spoil you can bring it.
It is very important for us that we consume only vegan stuff at this weekend, because we want to be aware for all forms of oppression which means also the oppression between human and non-human animals.

We will spend the time in the forest so we would wish for the ecosystem to be respected. For that: stay on paths, camping only in the marked area, collect your and other’s trash.
This forest is occupied which means that police actions can possibly happen at any time.

Please bring a tent, sleeping mat and sleeping bag. We’ll find a solution if you don’t have these things.

Help Call from occupied forest in Uppsala Sweden

About a year ago, the forest-occupation project in Uppsala started after the municipality officially decided to clear a more than 200-year-old forest in order to build expensive high-rise buildings in its place.

The forest, Blodstensskogen, is located between two nature reserves and thus serves as a corridor for the many forest animals to move around. At the same time, Blodstensskogen has developed a strong and diverse ecosystem through its long existence. For example, there are deciduous trees and fir trees that are over a hundred years old, and it is home to many animals, including those that are protected (Red Listed Animals: different insects such as the longhorn beetle, musk longhorn beetle, scarlet fungus beetle, birds such as the black woodpecker and the crested tit, fungi such as the pine fire sponge, irpicodon pendulus, resupinate spurge and the beautiful earth stars, as well as three different species of bats that use the Blodstensskogen as hunting grounds and for reproduction).

We do not want to accept the unjustified clearing of the Blodstensskogen and therefore started to build tree houses and different platforms in the threatened forest. We were inspired by occupations like the one in the Hambach Forest and the many activists* who defend the forest with their dedication and steadfastness. We also want to thank them for their active help, on the one hand for the grant for materials, but especially for the help we received on site from some activists who came especially to share their knowledge with us!

The struggle for a more sustainable world with a fairer climate continues, even now, in these turbulent and uncertain times overshadowed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is still unclear whether the Blodstensskogen can persist. At the moment, there is still a legal process, but it has little chance of success and can be ended at any time by an eviction order. A few days ago, people from the municipality came into the forest and threatened us to leave the tree house and the existing structures, or they destroy it because it was an “illegal construction”, starting on Sunday 7 June – ridiculous when you consider that the whole forest is to be cleared to make way for high-rise buildings. That is what we call illegal!

It is important for us to stress: If there is an eviction, we need your support. In times of the corona pandemic we are learning many new forms of action. AntiFascist and ProMigrant Response to the Weekly “Hygiene” Demos

COVIDIOTS AND NAZIS UNITED FACING ANTIFA

The feeling of uncertainty and fear has been fed by the State aproach to this Corona Crisis like every other crisis that came before and that continues to grow by each day: Climate, Migration, Food Instability and Deforestation, all being exploited for profit, militarization and by the Right.  With Corona at first we were all told not to bother wearing masks in public spaces, remember with illogical justification that only sick people should do so, dirty secret of capitalism and austerity being that there was not enough masks not just for all but also even for hospital workers, then came the present regulations for manatory mask wearing together with world-wide subsidies and buyoouts for heavy industries and large corporations and not for the healthcare or in the form of social assistance for those most at risk, the elderly the poor, migrants and prisoners.  In this climate of practical breakdown it is the right that once again is trying to seize the opportunity to peddle their conspiracy theories to take advantage of the crisis: the narratives only on the surface apears to be critical of the state, assuming incredibly racist and antisemitic overtones: wearing masks is compared to sharia law or  to wearing star of David during the Holocaust.

 

 

 

 

 

In last saturday demo #K2305 in Cologne a person appeared in a concentration camp uniform with a sign “Maske Macht Frei”, seen here being interviewed by a extreme right youtuber Oliver Flesch.  This is only on the surface appearing to be  critical of the state and its corona regulations as the conservative and right wing nature of those protest cover up any critique of social and healhtcare inaction of the state, marginalize highly affected groups like refugees, prisoners and migrant workers even further and their demo participants clap frantically any time any of the counter protesters get hassled or arrested by the police.

It is however the couter demonstrators, coming from left, antifa, social causes perspectives that make those demos worthwile and put them in the right context.  After the initial surprise of the first demos on and around May 2nd, where Hygiene movement entered stores and harassed people wearing masks with some masks being pulled off people’s faces, with a very pronounced radical right element, the following demos on the 16th and 23 of May in Cologne and in Aachen, as in most other large cities, large antifascist counterdemonstrator presence was mobilized. In Cologne outnumbering the Hygiene Covidiots by 100, having 300-400 protesters to the Hyginist’s 200.  It is not only the narrative that sets this group and movement as being clearly instrumentalized and heavily influenced by the right, its very name strikes uneasy parallels to Hygiene being a particuarly high propaganda focus of the national socialist regime with Racial Hygiene laws and potrayal of all ethnic minorities and enemies of the state as unhygienic. During the demos many agresive provocations took place from the Hyginists who caughed from  a short disctance in the counter protester’s faces, sprayed them with desinfectant, and kept aggressively asking “Do you see any Natzis here?”. With each protest having its high profile extreme right wing social media personality as part of the protest on #K16o5 it was the Youtuber “Influenza”(with a rather intentionally disturbing self identification and fetishization of another deadly disease). Which is another more secretive, but seen in their group chats, element of this movement that not only does it deny that corona is a deadly to hundreds of thousands disease but at other times spreading the views that the pandemic is cleansing humanity of the old, sick and functions a needed population control instrument.

It is no wonder that like towards completly open natzis showing off in the streets, here too the response is that of disgust, actions and blockades. The counterdemos being organized with and without permits by alliance of the left and on the 26th of May in Cologne by the Sea Bridge, SeeBrucke People, offering a safe space and a garthering place for all that share a pro social, pro healthcare and anti natzi perspecive.  This legality and permits of those demos, like allways, is not being respected by the State with several people being detained in Cologne and in Aachen.  Once again solidarity is our weapon and we know that we can not expect anything more than inaction and brutality from the State, be it the Climate crisis or Corona, thats why again and again it is the self organized, autonomous and community groups that are filling the void that the State creates and enlarges creating an arena for the right wing extremists and neonazis.

The struggle for the streets and the minds has some parallels to the political situation fallowing the great depression in the 1920, with the unemployment in US and many economic indicators surpassing the great depression, especially in US and in the Global South, with the crisis expected to worsen with present unprecedented food insecurity in Africa and India and quite possibly this fall in Europe as well after a record breaking hot and dry winter.  Equating every crisis with an opportunity, AFD, initianlly experiencing large drop in support due to not having any pro healtcare or pro social perspecitve(suprise, suprise) during the pandemic is now trying to catch up and postition iteself  to take advantage of this economic/social/ecological crisis of Late Capitalism that is brewing out of,not just, corona, but also out of decades of ultra liberal austerity, climate crisis and now a global pandemic.  The closures of many small establishments and loss of employment has to be adressed from a critique of capitalism perspective and the void filled with actions, mutual support and demands for not more cops but for free and open healthcare, not more guns but living wages and more open living and social spaces and closed borders responded with aid and open doors and admission to those impacted by wars and instability for which our privelaged Global North livestyles are responsible.

 

All the above demands, needs and social and climate emergencies that corona, cliamate and refugee crisis symbolize continue to be responded to by thousands who are not willing to sit at home and await the government to deliver any solutions knowing very well that unless those demands are not won in the streets and through actions and occupations they will never become a reality.

A movement of Social and Ecological Justice continues against the “philosophy” of disinformation, fear, militarism and collapse!!

CALL FOR ACTION: Lets Re-Wild the old A4 Autobahn!!

Call for Action: Let’s give back the former A4 to nature!

We successfully fought against RWE and NRW‘s state government to not clearcut the forest. They declared that the Hambach Forest will not be used for brown coal mining any more.

This is a success of our common fight that has been going on for several years.

However, this forest has not been „saved“: The wounds that have been caused to the forest are deep.

One of these many wounds that is very visible is the former highway A4 that goes from the Secu-Point to the East of the forest like a scar. It is an ecological desert, a broad stripe without any plants, with many negative impacts on the forest and its animals.

Also, a research paper published by the Potsdam Institut für Klimafolgenforschung (PIK) and the Hochschule Eberswalde demands for rescuing the Hambach Forest: „The former highway A4 is to be recultivated and re-planted with forest as soon as possible.“ (see https://www.greenpeace.de/sites/www.greenpeace.de/files/publications/hambacher_forst.pdf, see also: https://taz.de/Studie-zu-Tagebau-und-Waldsterben/!5618305/).

If the forest is really not to be cut down any more, this road must be removed from the forest by RWE.

It is an „object that does not belong to the forest“ (as RWE says), and therefore should be removed from the forest.

However, we do not want to wait for RWE to do something maybe at some point in the future (if at all), but to become active ourselves and to begin to give back the former A4 to nature.

We want to start to replant this empty desert road with our hands‘ work, to fill it again with plants and animals that can use it. Let us work together with basic tools to change this ecological crime and to replant the former A4 with pioneer plants. We have already started- just join us (keeping Corona safety distance, of course).

Maybe we can also motivate gardening centers and tree schools to help us bringing soil and water with trucks in order to step by step help nature to heal this wound in the forest.

Hunger Strike For the Climate?! now in 31th day.

For past 31 days actions have taken place as part of Hunger Strike for the Climate?! and against Corona Marginalization, Profiteering and Repression through out the state of North Rhine Westphalia. We have taken our demands of:

1. No sidelining of Climate Crisis in itself connected to habitat loss and migration that is causing and magnifying of the latest capitalist structural crisis of Covid 19 pandemic.

2. Release of prisoners from NRW jails, the last land in Bundes Republic territory not to do so to decrease the risk of outbreak of corona in its overcrowded prisons.

3. Solidarity with refugees and call for release and closure of refugee camps on the greek island and of US ICE Immigration detention where conditions are dire and outbreaks occur on every day basis.

4. Call for supermarkets to stop throwing food in the trash, exposing activists, the poor, the elderly and the homeless to all the pathogens that are in the store by having to go through the supermarkets garbage.

5. Call for anonymous testing and amnesty for forest activists during the pandemic. Both are preventing not just activists but all without valid id from being tested and stress on using police to address the crisis is making numerous populations reluctant and not able to seek treatment.

6. Connecting and full responsibility for RWE of its epicenter of respiratory deseases caused by coal based emission and fine particles from mining amplifying the scope of the pandemic by leaving the local population sicker and more vulnerable to this disease on top of causing more that 60000 deaths in German territory alone. Same with RWEs effect on the global climate disaster unfolding before our eyes.

7. Opening Up of villages, buildings and to be destroyed homes laying in the path of RWEs toxic mines for social, ecological and living spaces.

Last but not least:

 

 

8. No instrumentalization of Corona for new waves of repression against forest and climate activists and ever increasing groups of marginalized segments of society: the homeless and the poor, elderly, ethnic minorities and refugees, and prisoners.

With the Climate Crisis continuing to unfold as RWE continues to mine around Hambacher Forst destroying surrounding, also happening in two other coal mining regions, villages and habitats and as the corona epidemic is exploited to bail out and to give billions to large polluters and heavy industries, all this as the epidemic rages in prisons, refugee camps, in the global south and in socially enclosed and collective spaces with no resources and little attention directed for those that needed it the most. For those reasons and especially to raise awareness of solidarity mutual assistance and anticapitalist critique and perspective of this and this and that in an ever list of crises perpetuated by the system for those reasons the Hunger Strike for the Climate will continue for another week taking this message to the empty of compassion, empathy and foresight edifices of power:

“No Fear” May Day 2020 in Hambach Forest

May First! In the pre-Corona days many in the forest were in cities across Europe taking part in global actions and demonstration. This year the comrades who found themselves in the forest, if not building barricades treehouses or communal spaces, followed updates of MayDay actions and demonstrations: The Anarchists and syndycalists of Wupertall walking through

the street in a mob of joy and celebration shortly after midnight singing chanting and projecting rays of fireworks and light through out the street. We watched from a distance as the legalist “demos” were either cancelled or severely limited and split up into permits of smaller demos and as larger ones were being harassed and kettled by the cops in cities from Istanbul to Frankfurt. Then the call came out through voices echoing through the forest “Cops in the Forest at Crowsnest, wanting to evict!” The tradition of staging police actions in the forest during May Day, New Years, Global Climate Marches and Strikes as well as Ende Geleande and Climate Camp action continued, might as well for the next occasions like this set up lawn chairs and together with the media wait for the next wave of NRWE CO2ps running to Hambi to make sure that are spirits are not too high and we are not thinking too much about revolution but instead about their nice and clean uniforms oh yeah lets not forget the guns and the tanks too. Logistically its much harder and 2-3 more expensive for police to show up in the forest on those dates it does however show their determination to split up, isolate and distract movements, occupations and front-lines involved in the Climate Justice, Animal Liberation, QUEER, Anti Deforestation and Anti Fascist struggles. By definition also revealing their political sentiment and connections. It should also be a part of larger socio economic anti capitalist critique of how easy it is to in time of numerous crisis: austerity, climate , corona to channel so much resources away from ecology, education and healthcare towards protecting corporate criminals against humanity and the Planet. In the end being more than responsible for worsening situation.

So this time being smaller in number but still symbolically present they compensating with extra fire power showing up with an MP5 Heckler and Koch and a larger caliber weapon being carried by a cop assuming the role, like allways, of not just the “Bad” but also arrogant cop, with the caliber having a direct effect on macho behavior.

When the forest activists exited the forest, while being 30 meters away from a group of activists,the police pointed two machine guns at the activists ordering one in the group to put down their stick while at the same time approaching closer to the activists, indicating not just lack of concern but also intent to escalate, the person pointed the stick at the police and asked them to put down their weapons first, with cops responding that they will put them down if the person puts down the stick first, another person asked the police if they are aiming for a head shot to which the female associated cop responded with “No but it makes a loud boom.”(Hmmm its very unlikely that they were carrying blanks).


The situation was then deescalated by a person that walked straight towards the cops with their hands up to talk. The same person afterwards ended up breaking down and crying, relating how traumatic it was that the situation with their van, their home could have costed their comrades their lives.

There were several reasons  given for this politically charged and symbolic “visit”. At first it was to help the RWE workers clean up the place: there was nothing to clean and the RWE secus who came with them just ended up sniffing around places they don’t ussually have easy access to, then some pallets were noticed behind parked cars and activists were informed that they would have to be removed. Parked next to the forest vans were than looked at, license plates written down and told to move by Saturday when the cops were claiming that they would return(never trust a cop). The psychological warfare: “We’ll be back.” especially resonated with newer and outside supporters exploiting the fear of police actions, attack and eviction. Instead of course the cops on Saturday were grilling, and when not at football games going after hoolies, then still quarantining from corona and this time also recovering from a small sh*t storm that pointing guns at people has caused.

All this stress and life threatening situations also has to do with exposure of the public to more and more violent forms of force being carried, deployed and used by the police. Today the machine guns are pointed at a crowd tomorrow perhaps now legal taser will be tried in the forest on psychologically affected persons(one of the most common targets for those weapons with many induced heart attack deaths annually) Also how long before somebody might be shot for holding one of the favorite to show in the media by police “weapons”/tools used in the forest an ax or a large knife?! Filling the pages of BILDS and Zeits with appreciation for the brave police doing their work while latest scientific discovery on how desperate the state of the planet and its climate might not even be found on the last page these pro RWE rags and neither will be actually what might have taken place.

What we see from the cops and don’t see from the media shows what they are concerned and afraid the most: of activists, people and communities to have a sense of autonomy and tradition and to be able to celebrate it in peace, to have undisturbed by disinformation and divisionism lines of communication and solidarity among multisectional lines, and to also have an autonomous and unsilenced voices that offers an antifascist, left, ecological, antisexist, antihomophobe and antispecist perspective. If you resonate with even one of these principles and are open to supporting and expanding to the others, JOIN US! The Struggle has only just begun!!

Salute of Solidarity to Anarchists in the Italian territory

From occupied Hambacher Forest, from its treehouses, barrios and villages and camps we send you openhearted and warm expressions of love and rage.  Of Love and Rage in the face of State after State creating and deepening and then exploiting crisis after crisis, be it post-colonialist ultra liberalism with its austerity & social and climate/ecological  collapsing or be it the waves of opportunistic militarization of repression that follow, one crisis blending and fusing with the next.  As each part of the remaining social and community fabrics is collapsed and destroyed it is subjected to this dynamic like You who rose and continued to rise to the occasion and become an inspiration for us all.

So from the largest “ZAD” autonomous enclave on the edge of the largest coal mine in the EU territory we send an acknowledgment honoring the tradition, history and the present of those fighting the anticapitalist liberation struggles in the italian region. With great debt felt be anarchist communities worldwide to which you and your predecessors contributed so much.  In the face of the breakdown of last remaining illusions of social and ecological safety nets, being replaced by quarantines, infectious hospitals and prisons we reflect and communicate that it does not matter either if we are here for a week, month or years more, what matters is that this and many other struggles have stood in the face of overwhelming forces persevered, from the villages, cities, barrios and treehouses and from behinds bars and communicated the message of resistance around the planet.  It was those messages and actions from you that inspired so many here and countless other places, it is that same message from us to you that we can only hope will reverberate as a slow ‘back to normal’, becomes the new norm against which all resistant people fought and warned across the historical spectrum.

History never exactly repeats itself but it does rhyme, with all too many always ready to hum and sing the tune of blind obedience, of destruction of all that is beautiful, communitarian, solidaric and free, and as that tune is reinforced through the paranoia and profiteering of the corporate media with state following with its authoritarian anti social anti health state of emergency,with its too little to late, “solutions”. And as drones fly above cities worldwide keeping people from getting too close to each other,as this distopian scifi bullsh*t becomes the new normal as this happens it is also the notes and voices of “Bella Ciao” that continue to reverberate, after more than 80 years ago echoing through apenine mountains and forest on both sides of the Adriatic, reverberating still from countless instruments, mouths and hearts at camps, collectives actions and demos.  The historical strength of resistance. perseverance and inspiration reminding that even in the darkest times not only has hope and the eternal spirit of liberation and universal equality not dissapeared but has sustained itself and exploded time after time in a celebration of liberation.  This is one of those times again when your message of standing shoulder to shoulder with those that not just have the least, but have also been singled out as targets of exclusion and persecution, like the prisoners, refugees and all that dare to look at the new face of authoritarian state and say No and Basta, like the Zapatistas, Zadists, NoTav, Anticapitalists from Chile, Spain, Bielorus and in every place where there is injustice and repression.  Thank you for your actions manifestos/updates on the refugee, prisoner, medical sector and gig economy exploitation and profiteering!

It is becoming once gain crucial to reach out, to communicate and inspire.  As one state after another does away with any pretensions of “liberties” and “rights” and replaces them with more privilege and power for fewer and fewer power hungry idiots self isolated from the effects of their actions on the masses, the spirit of rebellion and hope germinates in the least expected and most forgotten locales. Lets keep that message strong, feed it maintain it together and spread it and share it with all those whom even we might have forgotten.

Occupying and squatting on top of the European pyramid of exploitation, privilege and force, it is all of those remaining privileges that have to be questioned, and uprooted as the message is taken to those in the global south in the back alleys and the havelas with the understanding that it is not us but them who are our mentors and our teachers:  The homeless person who left a reality of exploitation based employment behind 4 lifetimes ago, a refugee traumatized by war who might not have even picked a side, a prisoner of a war on the poor, they are us and we are them.

Rapid social and ecological degradation path taken by The State actors worldwide means that LockDowns, Red Zones and Stay at Homes of Corona are just a rehearsal towards a state of permanent emergency and ever progressing break down, break down that is not just removing the primacy of the west on the international scene(to which nationalists elements respond as a rallying cry) but also destroying the life bearing capacity of the planet itself by destabilizing the stable climate itself, while groundwork is laid for future pandemics by destroying healtcare, social sectors and feeding tons of antibiotic to factory farms captives breeding an ever increasing number of antibiotics resistant bacterial strains, while farma and military continues to stockpile and experiment on an ever increasing list of biowarfare agents for “defensive purposes”.

IT is crucial for so many among us to expand and maintain the concepts of equality and liberation to all other species. What is done to them is done to all of us.  In case of corona quite literary with the habitat destruction and animal trade leading to one of the deadliest outbreaks of last 50 years, presently with a death toll of 1/200 of HIV and 1/2 swine flue. Yet these last two pandemics the System was capable of normalizing and weathering when just 10 years later the break down is advancing to the point where that is no longer possible.  That is why no matter how isolated, overwhealmed and depressed this might make many of us feel lets not forget that it is in moments like this that a new opportunity for utopian and anarchist conceps presents itself.

Those drunk with new/old powers seldom realize how unstable their creations become when their piramid of hirarchical destruction and opression rests on the shoulders of so many whose communities and habitats have been cratered, bombed, evicted and wiped out time after time. Covid 19 pandemic errupted during the warmest winter on record, with not just subsaharan Africa and Ethiopia experiencing unprecedented crop failure but the global norths food supplies and their own food production becoming more and more affected & unstable.  This is not just a beggining of ever increasing State Power but also its end and true exposure of its weakness and limitations.  We will all join each other in the streets and occupied villages and cities be it under the spectre of State opression or be it in the voids that the State leaves that so many collectives, groups and networks have sprung up to fill.

Hambacher Forst struggle and occupation has for last 8 years filled such a void, an ancient forest being destroyed by largest movable machines on the face of the earth: RWE diggers and as 10s, 100s and then 1000s faced and blocked the police forces of climate and social chaos we created a community based on utopian principles of antisexism, antispecism, antiracism, antifashism, antihomophobia and anticapitalism.  It has been the autonomy and seemingly temporary nature of the occupation that have made it so special. Now the forest, its last 10% is “saved” as the diggers continue to dig all around and continue to destroy any hope of stable future with their gigatons of extracted carbon and until that stops the fight continues.  With this being just one of the many global & interconnected front-lines of the planetary struggle joing us! As we reach out and join you in projects, actions and occupations.  Stay in touch, keep spreading your message and see you in the streets in the forests and in the mountains!

Hunger Strike Against Intrumentalising Corona for Marginalization and Repression

A hunger strike will take place in front of NRW parliament in duseldorf beggining tomorrow, monday April 6th to bring attention to the marginalization of the poor, refugees and political and climate activists during the corona crisis. Denying access to healthcare and resources while unprecedented trillions are spend for the large industries. We are calling for the following.

5. Establishing of contact between Hambi Corona Awelness Team and local healthcare and pandemic response structures in maintaining free and anonymous access to healhcare and testing.

Decriminalization of containering, and appeal to supermarkets to redistribute to be thrown away food at agreed times to the: poor, foodsharing initiatives and corona volunteer groups.Destruction of food by mixing it with the trash is exposing the poor and often elderly to all the pathogens including corona from a supermarket frequented by thousand.

7.Stop of police infiltration and destabilization of protest sites and strugles collaborating with private security firms representing RWE, often employing individuals with anti-left extremist right wing ideology resulting in rising level of intimidation and threats during political events and increasing the risk of injury and provocations to activists in the forest and visitors alike.

8. Living Wage for all in the time of crisis and investment in the futureof communities and in renewable energy not trillions in subsidies for heavy toxic industries.xerce

Exercise physical not social distancing and while there in front of the NRW parliament from 9 to 3pm on Monday we will be accepting donations of bio ethanol and food and on the doorsteps of power putting together small containers of sanitizer and cooking a meal to be distributed among the homeless to symbolize that it is those that have the least, and who are often hungry, underpriveliged and underfunded(as in the case of medical workers with whom we express our solidarity) that are doing the most and have the most to lose during this crisis.

May 25, 2020 Hambacher Forest: Only 1 day after the first protest site in the world: Shaheen Bagh  (taking a stand against nationalist Modi CAA Citizenship Law in New Delphi) was surrounded by riot cops and bulldozed citing the Corona outbreak, only one day after, the wheels seem to be in motion to go in the same direction in NRW as Hambi was visited by a pro-RWE-Climate-Killing-Coal Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger journalist working on an article titled “Hambach Forest and Corona”. At the time there are no cases of Corona in the Forest and there were only 400 recorded cases in India when Shaheen Bagh was evicted.

The long disgusting populist and totalitarian tradition of equating with disease and vermin that needs to be sanitized and cleansed all those who dare to differ, resist and often just happen to be the “others” continues: while Orange Mussolini Trump calls Covid-19 a “A Chinese Virus” as acts of racist physical violence against those of Asian descent multiply world-wide. The ugly history of fear mongering continues as in the time of bubonic plague when  Europe was swept by antisemitic pogroms resulting from rumors that the Jews have been poisoning the public wells, while Italian sailors, not the fleas, were also seen as spreaders of the Black Death and attacked.

Now in 2020, the channels of hate and manipulation have been digitized and are reaching more than ever before, the methods however have stayed the same. Instead of the angry mob we now have Reul and Laschet, RWE lapdogs, with their AFD allies for years having in unison been calling for cleansing of the forest (which at they so  wanted to destroy and did destroy 90% of it), from the leftist radical scum. They already showed themselves not being very interested in global health and environmental crisis by responding

to global climate emergency instead with  40 billion for RWE and friends in the fiasco of the german coal exit and on top responding to catastrophe killing and affecting millions with largest police action in history of NRW; a 70+ million euro plus eviction of Hambacher Forest in 2018.

For those corporate disaster fetishists and profiteers Corona is just an opportunity that can not be ignored, it is a bargain not having to spend 60,000 euro on a bogus legal  opinion for another eviction of this time Treehouses, Meadow(Most likely – RWE needs that CO2al underneath), Mahnwahe, or Hambi Camp(take your pick) and having the Danger Zone that included just Hambach Forest during last eviction now expended to whole of Germany is very convenient to keep number of supporters away and attention turned towards the shelves with toilet paper.  And this time instead of billions its trillions for the heavy industries. What a deal!

Press conglomerates partially owned by  RWE interests again playing their part in the “art” of PR, damage control and redirection and public opinion manipulation at the call of their corporate masters.  Neo-liberal, media hacks not asking any important question, like climate and environmental instability amplifying all disasters and hotspots of corona in both italy and germany being the most industrialized and polluted regions in the country, etc, etc. Instead the Press the 5th column of Disaster Capitalism is staying busy distracting the populace from how decades of austerity and run-away capitalism have left the European “welfare states” and most of the global north with more focus on giving large corporations like RWE  free hand-outs of billions and now using this emergency to give away trillions, to pollute, destroy and gentrify with full governmental protection of tanks, helicopters and police batons while concern for healthcare,culture, and welfare of the populace and that of ecosystems and other species is nothing more than an empty election-year promise. Now we are in the middle of a new crisis while the “last one” continues to only get worse while receding from public attention and once  again the routine operation to solve the “problem” is by inaction for as long as possible and then by going after a list of usual suspects, scape-goats, anarchists, minorities and activists to blame for the disaster. Lets see if the tons of pages and gigabytes of data filled with lies and disinformation can put out this global trash fire of idiocy, incompetence and power-grabbing or whether like always it will just end up feeding the blaze.

The capitalist for profit press is also not likely to point out that the 40+ billion from the Coal Commission to RWE and others as a reward for and incentive to continue to destroy the climate have now become the standard profiteering Keynesian response to any crisis: ignore  and suppressing the underlying issues for as long as possible, enlarging the power of the state and enriching the industrial interests, and in ignoring the social and ecological issues the States continue creeping closer and closer to a dystopian Fascist state model. That is why initiatives offering alternatives, front-line struggles and endangered communities and ecosystems are such a risk to this agenda and either have to be co-opted and or destroyed.

Profit and control above everything: this time instead of Climate Crisis its the Covid 19 and the agenda continues of having environment destroying industries: airlines, banking, car manufacturing, and a long list of other not so Eco and socially friendly sectors of the economy  receiving largest emergency subsidies in global history. Using the time of emergency to postpone any possibility of transition and decarbonization in the next 10 years that is left before reaching the 2 degrees centigrade run away point pushes the planet in viscous feedback loops with the ensuing habitat destruction leading to unprecedented global instability and most likely to even more deadly pandemics and wide instability. Each emergency and crisis instead of solutions becomes instead another get-rich-quick scheme opportunity on a dying planet. Once it is the largest conglomerates and the economy that are becoming “The Patient 0” and receiving most assistance and treatment.  This is happening as hospitals lack protective gear equipment and in many countries including Germany authorities are responding by hiring more security guards not medical personnel and the homeless are rounded up from open spaces and detained instead in confined group accommodations optimal for viral spread.

As new laws not for climate justice and healthcare but instead for new emergency police powers are passed it is once again capitalism that reveals itself more and more to be the virus destroying its only host, the planet we all call home: Earth.

So Reuls, Laschets and AFDs of this Planet enjoy your Spreading-the-Virus-of-Capitalism-Corona-Party as you are about to send in your shock troops and goons once again to make sure gigatones of RWE coal can go up in smoke destroying all hope for the stable future. Your “Its the end of the world, and I feel fine” celebration is bound to be the shortest one ever, with record breaking hurricanes, floods, global fires, pandemics, and droughts coming as your invited guests whose record breaking sizes and duration could only be compared to the growth of yours and your corporate master’s bank accounts. Just remember it will never be forgotten nor forgiven that it is you not us(the people and The Planet) who is responsible. This responsibility is also shared by Kölner Stadt-Anzeigers of this world laying the ground work for this disaster profiteering and corona capitalism, spreading fear and disinformation and justifying constant waves of state violence not just against activists in Hambi but agains a long list of social, ethnic and political actors. This is something that can never be forgotten even if the everyday reminder for future generation will be nothing more than a daily reality of ever deepening instability, hunger, disaster and disease. Instead of “Business As Usual” it becoming a Constant State of Disaster As Usual.
