The Turnbull Government’s latest band-aid measures will do little to address housing affordability and nothing at all for Australia’s homeless, says John Passant in Independent Australia.

‘Turnbull “humbly” served lunch to the very people he victimises. He then instructed the rest of us to “hug” them.

‘At the same time, he refused to acknowledge that his government’s policies have murdered yet another refugee, who came to us seeking sanctuary from murderers in his homeland.’

The Vinnies CEO sleepout won’t address homelessness. What it will do is reinforce the system and the people who sit at the very top of the tree of the rich. CEOs are part of the problem; they are not a solution to homelessness. Only in a world without CEOs will there be a world without the homelessness that they and their system create.

There are 1500 homeless every night in Canberra. At the same time there are about 1500 vacant hotel and motel rooms. Why not mandate those empty rooms for the homeless?
