The pall of self-defence descends

Two days ago I wrote in an article called Abbott unleashes terror against Muslims in Australia:
Now the government has announced major changes to arrest laws to enable police to arrest and detain people without charge on suspicion of planning to commit a terrorist offence. According to 9 News the law changes will give ASIO a licence to kill suspects if their life or that of others is ‘threatened’.
I think this may be a misreading. The law gives criminal and civil immunity to ASIO and police in terrorism cases except for murder, assault or sexual assault. However where there is a threat to their life or that of others the immunity applies. My guess is there will be a lot of self-defence cases arising.
It has begun. Police killed an 18 year old Muslim in self-defence last night. The hysteria in the weeks before this was rampant. Now that hysteria has become more contagious than Spanish flu.
No Muslim in Australia is safe from the State or its outsourced violent arms like the fascist Australian Defence League or the emboldened racists who attack Muslim women in the streets.
Abbott and the capitalist media are unleashing a pogrom against Muslims.

Reminds me a bit of the shooting of Tyler Cassidy….

It’s exactly like the Tyler Cassidy shooting. Except Tyler Cassidy didn’t stab two police officers. And Tyler Cassidy has a blood alcohol content over .09.

Well, at least we have some facts in relation to Tyler Cassidy. Facts seem to be almost the last thing we have in relation to the assassinated Muslim.

Fred, I just commented on some of the similarities between the cases (both had affiliation with right wing political causes etc., were both Melbourne based teens who were shot by police) I did not say they we’re the same.

I’ll also say that you are right Fred and that the shooting of haider appears to be more defensible from a police perspective. I haven’t heard anything but media speculation yet, so I’m not going to criticize police actions.

If you don’t have any facts, then how do you know he was assassinated?

I don’t. Just making as informed a guess as the capitalist media Fred.

“No Muslim in Australia is safe from the State….” Really? And you base this statement on a case of a young Muslim attacking and seriously injuring two police officers? I would think that anyone who attacks and injures police officers is setting himself for some defensive action by those police officers or their colleagues nearby. The many peaceful Muslims living in Australia have nothing to fear from police!
I am glad to see that at long last the Muslim community is coming forward condemning ISIS, and making moves to dissociate themselves from the extreme elements within their community. The Muslim community itself must eliminate those extreme elements, not the Abbott government. This country should continue to be a bastion for religious tolerance – as it always has been. It is up to the Muslims to ensure that this situation continues by their outspoken rejection of extreme Islamist views. The non-Muslim community is watching.

‘The many peaceful Muslims living in Australia have nothing to fear from police!’ Really? Just ask them. Add in the racists abusing and attacking them and you have got an unsafe environment for all Muslims.

The actions of the Muslim community in condemning and rejecting extreme Islam is what will protect them. It is interesting that no other religious group (except maybe the Jews who are somewhat under attack from the Left) feels under threat. Is it because no other religious group is involved in murderous atrocities and terrorism around the world?
BTW while on holiday I read that book about Israel by the leftist journalist, Ari Shavit. Interesting. And the first ones to set up kibbutzim in Israel were dedicated socialist Zionists.

Kay, I have a friend who belongs to a recreational bikers’ club. Ever since Premier Campbell Newman brought in his grossly undemocratic bikie laws, he has not been able to go anywhere without being constantly pulled over and questioned by the police.
People of all religious affiliations should consider themselves under threat, since they are constantly being blamed for all of society’s ills. I also refer to the long standing witch hunt of the Catholic Church over paedophilia, even though the general community is largely atheist and crawling with paedophiles.
Once sufficient racial and religious hatreds are induced in the general public, the government (in conjunction with the UN) will outlaw all religion except the highly lucrative Carbon faith. This will allow the people to be completely ripped off by capitalists across every possible service, while their movements across the world are curtailed.

I might also add that there are plenty of Australians who behave like anti-Muslim extremists. I consider these people highly dangerous to ordinary law abiding Muslims and democracy in action.
If we already have 42 anti-terrorist laws, why do we need more? Answer: To control the masses and make them submit to global capitalist abuses.

Well, after 6 weeks in the wilds of Alaska and Canada, I return to find that nothing has changed with you Socialists – you are still fighting for those who would happily behead you, given half a chance! Overseas news reports are full of ISIS, the atrocities being committed, and the realisation that its violence is unlikely to be confined to the Middle East. I mean, how many fellow Muslims can this mob slaughter before it becomes boring for them and they itch to move on to real infidels? Only fellow Muslims can really deal with these fanatics long term by withdrawing their support. Eventually everyday moderate Muslims will twig that these fanatics are their real enemy – not the generally tolerant western liberal societies in which they very comfortably live. Such processes take time, and in the meantime, we expect our governments to protect us from would-be fanatical killers. At least governments around the world, including Arab nations, are united in their opposition to these murderous thugs.
