Send Barnaby to Indonesia
It is a pity that Barnaby Joyce, a man of tact, diplomacy, nuance and subtlety, isn’t going to Indonesia to fix things up. I know I am disappointed that Barnaby is missing out on this great opportunity, and I am sure the Indonesians feel the same way. [Sarcasm alert.] (0)

Washington celebrates Qaddafi’s death

Qaddafi was a tyrant whose corrupt rule served to enrich the tiny circle around him, while the mass of Libyans endured poverty and repression. No one should shed a tear that he is gone.

But the U.S. government has advanced its imperial interests with its role in Qaddafi’s death and the overthrow of his regime. All those opposed to war and oppression need to speak out against U.S. attempts to determine Libya’s future–and to curb the Arab revolution.

Former Gaddafi apparatchiks dominate Libya’s National Transition Council

Former Gaddafi apparatchiks dominate the Libyan National Transition Council. The co-opted revolution is in safe pro-imperialist hands, for now.

Gaddafi out; another Western puppet to take over?

No to Gaddafi. No to NATO. Yes to the masses in Libya and across the region.

Free speech, army racism, Libya, the carbon tax – have your say in Saturday’s socialist speak out

I am thinking about banning Zionist trolls on my website who offer nothing but name calling and nonsense. Should I? I see the hired killers of the Australian capitalist state in Afghanistan are racists. Surprise surprise. And the response of the Government and army? Just a few bad apples. Seriously? What do you expect when you train young men […]

Suffer the little children

At the same time these barbarians of empire were crying their crocodile tears for Libyan civilians Israeli bombs were killing Palestinian kids and Obama’s drones were murdering innocent people in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Libya: the invasion has begun

The victory of the Libyan revolution now, I believe, depends on the deepening of the revolutions in the region, in Egypt and Tunisia in particular, to defeat the dictatorships still in power there and the American imperialism which supports and profits from them.

‘No-fly zone’ is no way to free Libya

The only route to justice for people across the Middle East, North Africa and the world is to throw off the shackles of imperialism and fight as a class—as ordinary people—against the rulers of all countries who seek to oppress and exploit the masses.

UK STOP THE WAR STATEMENT: UN DECLARATION OF WAR ON LIBYA

The decision to attack Libya and impose regime change – for that is what the
UN resolution means – may have been authorised by the Security Council. But
it was instigated by the despots of the Arab League, desperate to secure deeper
western involvement in the region to save them from their own peoples. And it
will be implemented by the same powers which have wreaked such mayhem
throughout the Arab and Muslim worlds over the last ten years and longer.

Libya, Japan and reformers – have your say in Saturday’s socialist speak out

So there you have it. A simple formula really. The US backed dictators in the Arab League sacrifice one of their own to save themselves. All they had to do was call for a no-fly zone against Gaddafi in Libya and they got the green light from the US to kill those demonstrating for freedom and justice elsewhere and so keep themselves in power.

Libya, Bahrain and imperialism

Not all the Libyan revolutionaries want a no-fly zone. A no-fly zone is an invasion. It is war. Imperialism will invade,  if it does, to destroy the revolution. The excuse imperialism uses to justify its brutality is always ‘humanitarian’ in some form. The reality is always death. Vietnam, Cambodia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Haiti all come to mind. The US, […]
