Raise the pension by $200 a week; make it universal

I am for a universal pension. This would be a pension for everyone over the age of 65. It would be a pension that is well above the poverty line.

Turnbull talks tax rubbish

Turnbull’s claim that rehashed “trickle down reforms” will not be “keenly felt” in the community during the lowest wage growth on record are farcical, says John Passant in Independent Australia. Click here to read the article. Turnbull talks tax trash

Why not tax the rich instead of screwing the poor?

I wrote this back in May for Independent Australia. It contains some of those pesky things called facts that rebut the Morrison lies about the taxed and the not taxed. Why not tax the rich instead of screwing the less well off?

Instead of screwing the less well off, why not tax the rich instead?

In Independent Australia I examine Labor’s social welfare policies and find they are edging closer to those of the Coalition rather than a progressive workers’ party. I start off by saying: I HAD BEEN wondering if Labor (ALP) were going to be Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders in our election. As the ALP has begun announcing policies to cut […]

Untouched billions in tax rorts for the rich

This is the link to my article in socialist magazine Solidarity on the untouched billions in tax rorts for the rich.

The tax concessions Turnbull won’t abolish all overwhelmingly favour the top ten percent

No doubt you will be shocked to learn, as I was, that it is the rich who overwhelmingly benefit from negative gearing losses, and the superannuation and capital gains discount tax concessions. Here are some facts.

Here are some pesky facts.

My article in Solidarity magazine on the Panama Papers

Panama Papers scandal shows how capitalism works – and why we need to get rid of it

Politicians who insist there’s no money for wages, pensions, benefits or public services had their secret hoards exposed this week writes Socialist Worker UK. As they argue we need to go on the offensive against the Tories and other pro-tax dodging governments—and to link that into a fight to get rid of the whole rotten system.
