I think we are being unfair to this Abbott ‘no surprises’ Government. I am not surprised. (0)

Send Barnaby to Indonesia
It is a pity that Barnaby Joyce, a man of tact, diplomacy, nuance and subtlety, isn’t going to Indonesia to fix things up. I know I am disappointed that Barnaby is missing out on this great opportunity, and I am sure the Indonesians feel the same way. [Sarcasm alert.] (0)

Just who is the real threat to Australian workers?

Ben Hillier in Red Flag asks a few pertinent questions (and answers them.)

Who is the threat to workers?

Who is the threat to the 800,000 unemployed, and the 1 million “underemployed” who can’t get enough work?

Who is the threat to the more than 100,000 homeless people around the country?

Who is the threat to pensioners?

Who is the threat to working class kids?

Who is the threat to Aboriginal people?

Who is the threat to democracy?

Who is the threat to privacy?

Not surprisingly, the answer isn’t terrorists.

Ben finishes off with:

This government, and the opposition that so often backs it, preaches freedom, democracy and fairness. This pledge is hollow, cover for a future of fear, poverty, desperation and insecurity, all in aid of giving a worthless government a mirage of strength and the rich a more pliant workforce.

The only defence from this Liberal future is a renewed pledge to stand truly by each other – in our unions, on the campuses and on the streets. That’s the other reason my mind was cast, away from the very real and grotesque voice of the PM, to the distant image of Eureka. Because our history shows that in solidarity we have strength.

To read the whole article and the answers to the questions above hit the link, Terrorists aren’t the real threat.

The workers at Cafe Lindt may disagree.

Mike, a friend of mine says 2 police marksmen could have taken out the sole “terrorist” at Cafe Lindt very quickly, by taking aim simultaneously at each of his shoulders. This would have caused the man to fall over backwards and also drop the gun. Hostages within the cafe were clearly sending messages to those outside. No doubt these would have included:

“Only one terrorist. He is armed with a gun.”

This would have been sufficient information for the police to end the siege very quickly with no loss of life occurring (except perhaps the gunman’s).

Instead we got continuous television coverage and a huge amount of hype to make Australians fearful. This was followed up by the loss of 2 innocent lives, and a memorial “service” which went on for days, complete with a sea of flowers which must have wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars, which could have been donated to the homeless.

Since then, there have been a series of carbon copy events at various locations throughout the world. I’m sure these events have had the following main aims:

. to make the people fearful.
. to facilitate the passage of undemocratic laws.
. to further create a homogeneous society.
. to provide capitalists with more cheap foreign labour.
. to create a glut of workers.
. to drive wages and working conditions down.

….along with all of the other things John has already mentioned.

I’m sure the current idea of lifting the GST to 15% and widening its base will end up going indirectly into the capitalists’ child care industry, while more mothers of very young babies are forced out to work, compounding problems of unemployment and underemployment, while lifting the welfare bill. How is that a plus?

The idea that lifting the GST will benefit all income groups is so laughable that I’m surprised the entire Coalition is not run out of the parliament.

Methinks we household economists could do a much better job of balancing the budget and paying down foreign debt than Labor or Liberals, who are both working to a global capitalist agenda AKA Corporate Neo-Communism.

Unfortunately the idea of Solidarity has been undermined over several decades by social engineers teaching Me Syndrome (look after No. 1). While a glut of workers remains the largest workplace employment problem after a lack of Australian manufacturing, there is little chance that Solidarity alone will succeed.

A better idea would be to find a way to convince the people to vote for Pro-Australian minor parties and Independents. This is hard to do when they are largely blocked from the media, and those sitting on the cross benches are being openly labelled “obstructionist”.

I think people need to be reminded that in the days of yore, politicians were either Independents or members of small parties. They crossed the floor and formed new alliances according to the issue at hand and voted in the best interests of their constituents. If they didn’t, they were quickly voted back out again. This is a far cry from the modern undemocratic duopoly we are forced to endure because 80% of the people still vote for them, since almost no one else gets any air time. Crossing the floor has become a concept with which most people are unfamiliar.

Heaven forbid that anyone should “obstruct” the government from sending our nation and its citizens to the economic outhouse. No doubt a law will soon be passed to end “obstructionist” politics!

Dr Paul Craig Roberts posted this George Carlin classic rendition of how unfair our system is.

“The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don’t. You have no choice! You have OWNERS! They OWN YOU.”

But there’s a reason. There’s a reason. There’s a reason for this, there’s a reason education SUCKS, and it’s the same reason it will never, ever, EVER be fixed.

It’s never going to get any better, don’t look for it, be happy with what you’ve got.

Because the owners, the owners of this country don’t want that. I’m talking about the real owners now, the BIG owners! The Wealthy… the REAL owners! The big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions.

Forget the politicians. They are irrelevant. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don’t. You have no choice! You have OWNERS! They OWN YOU. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought, and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies, so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear. They got you by the balls.

They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying, lobbying, to get what they want. Well, we know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I’ll tell you what they don’t want:

They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. That’s against their interests.

That’s right. They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table and think about how badly they’re getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard 30 fucking years ago. They don’t want that!

You know what they want? They want obedient workers. Obedient workers, people who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork. And just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shitty jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it, and now they’re coming for your Social Security money. They want your retirement money. They want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street, and you know something? They’ll get it. They’ll get it all from you sooner or later cause they own this fucking place! It’s a big club, and you ain’t in it! You, and I, are not in the big club.

By the way, it’s the same big club they use to beat you over the head with all day long when they tell you what to believe. All day long beating you over the head with their media telling you what to believe, what to think and what to buy. The table has tilted folks. The game is rigged and nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care! Good honest hard-working people; white collar, blue collar it doesn’t matter what color shirt you have on. Good honest hard-working people continue, these are people of modest means, continue to elect these rich cock suckers who don’t give a fuck about you….they don’t give a fuck about you… they don’t give a FUCK about you.

They don’t care about you at all… at all… AT ALL. And nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care. That’s what the owners count on. The fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue dick that’s being jammed up their assholes everyday, because the owners of this country know the truth.

It’s called the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it.

One little correction, Ross. It has been far longer than 30 years.

The people know what is happening. They are just a gutless bunch who feel powerless to do anything.

Lorikeet, I don’t think most people know or understand how they are being screwed. If they really understood, there would be a revolution by tomorrow. Henry Ford attested to this reality before the Great Depression.

The elites have achieved this via a dumbed down education system.
