The role

Our client are looking for passionate and qualified Science teachers who can make a real difference to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. They deliver a structured programme of weekly tuition to small groups of carefully selected students.

As a tutor you will use your extensive experience, teaching Science to help students from a disadvantaged backgrounds to grow and realise their full potential.

What we do

By the time disadvantaged students leave school, they are typically more than 18 months behind their non-disadvantaged peers, and this gap is only widening. Given that 34% of students from wealthier homes now receive private tuition, this is not surprising.

Our client is a charity working to combat this inequality. Their structured programmes of weekly after-school tuition are designed to improve the confidence, skills and aspirations of students who deserve better. They carefully select the students who will most benefit from their support, and then match them in small groups with one of the fantastic tutors.

As a tutor, we expect you to:

  • Stimulate, inspire and challenge your group of four disadvantaged students every session
  • Deliver weekly hour-long sessions for either 12 or 15 weeks in person
  • Create and use your own subject specific resources
  • Provide feedback on the progress of the programme
  • Take part in training, observations and appraisals
  • Adhere to Safeguarding and other policies

What we look for in a tutor:

  • Passion for supporting young people to realise their full potential
  • Inspirational and engaging teaching style
  • Qualified teacher with extensive teaching experience (in schools or other settings)
  • Experience teaching Science up to at least Key Stage 4
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles
  • Ability to commit to after-school sessions at the same time each week for the programme duration (either 12 or 15 weeks)

We are an equal opportunities employment business and agency working on behalf of our clients and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
